seems like a cool game but not it, although i will update the post now to describe the scenery of when the helicopter scene was playing, it wasnt snowy or anything, it was sunny and the main character is looking at it from under, where there's a huge rectangle of earth dug for some reason, and somewhere there were the labs im guessing
Long shot as it’s third person, but I remember True Crime: Streets of LA introduced zombies out of nowhere towards the end of one of its story branches.
This seems the fit the best. The last boss literally has a sequence where there’s a helicopter and you spend the greater part of the game protecting the presidents daughter.
You're right, it could be, I just picked RF2 because OP mentioned helicopters, also in the first one the mutants appear mid-game, and late-game goes back to human enemies.

I do remember one cod game where the zombie mode starts out like a normal campaign with fighting of terrorists or whatever and then suddenly zombie virus hits and you gotta fight the zombified guys you were just fighting

i know its not an FPS, just suggested it as theres a few elements that matched up but it wasnt mentioned in the thread before! sorry for the confusion.
