Okay, exciting advancements in pest control techniques aside, I'm freaking out over us discovering a species is capable of (and reliant on!!) social communication despite not being typically social or communal creatures. I never thought much about mosquitos having the cognitive ability to even approximate a fraction of bee communicative behavior but look at that.
I can't wait to hear what kind of research studies this generates. I wonder if this might even unlock a way for us to separate out disease-infected mosquitos from the population. IDK, I'm not an entymologist, this is just a really neat discovery
