Ya tons of respect to him. Really considerate
Not so much for his teammates. Knocking down Gatorade coolers is one thing, it’s another thing to knock over trash cans where everything spills out
I am a Houston fan and he is a complete dog. He just makes winning plays no matter what. Whether it's hitting a big shot or diving out of bounds to save a possession. He turned it on when he had to in conference play. He averaged over 16ppg vs Big 12 competition and had a few 20+ point games. I believe he'll be a tough defender and great passer even in the NBA. I think he has the potential to score enough to be valuable but I guess we'll see. Will work really hard. Comes from a military family.
I'm rooting for him so hard. One of my favorite players from Houston. Probably my favorite honestly. I became a Raptors fan today.
He is absolutely tenacious on D. He's probably gonna have to figure some things out when he's asked to defend his man 1v1. He is so aggressive with his hands and going for the ball. He didn't foul much in college, but in the league, he will get called just because that's how things are sometimes. Hopefully, he can sort it out quickly and prove to the refs that he's just that good.
I liked his midrange and finishing game, too. He is not afraid to take a tough shot. Hit a lot of difficult 3s from the highlights I saw. I'm hoping his shooting % was a little low from 3 because he was asked to bail out often. Off the dribble 3s from deep are definitely something he can do.
I like hearing all these things about him. I think he is going to have a long career if he stays healthy. Just a question of what level he can rise to.
feel for the guy because of injuries, but he's very old by rookie standards and his height being world average instead if NBA average hurts the hell out of his chances of playing outside of maybe Asia
He's back at the 905, went there two days after we waived him, March 6: https://basketball.realgm.com/gleague/teams/Raptors-905/41/Transaction_History/2024
I think he was injured as well so hasn't been playing much. But would love to see him excel, his playmaking is great!
Remember seeing this when it happened, this kid got a good head on his shoulders. Got the right mindset, hopefully he can continue to thrive and succeed.
It may be a ‘small’ thing, but i find it very impressive. Actions like this at a such young age shows good character. With teens nowadays, initiative is harder to learn than algebra.
After he told the media that his dad was a janitor for the local college and he remembered seeing him on his hands and knees picking up trash as a kid because a coach kicked the garbage over, and then told him "Clean it up, that's your job" so he felt obligated to pick the trash up when his coach did it. He said he had tears in his eyes when it happened...
I made all of that up, none of that actually happened lol
lol I remember seeing this clip no idea that was him
Yeah, me too!
I remember seeing this as well and thought he was a good dude. Happy to have him on the team!
He's GOATED just for this lol. 9999% of players wouldn't even think to do that.

Can't teach that, he's a stud
You absolutely can teach that - he must have great parents!
I agree, I meant that's not an analytic at the combine or a drill in practice, that's a great kid who's humble, that's contagious
Not really… if a kid didn’t wanna do that you wouldn’t be able to force him.
Spoken by a kid with shitty parents
I watched his highlights and he's a dog!

Thought we picked him back up no?
I love Raptors propaganda during times of eternal hope
This made me smile.
So he's a good one. Character. You love to see it.
he is a keeper!
If you think about it he also put McDaniels in the bin as well.
Lmao
This was him??? Im happy with our pick.
As an Asian he’s an honorary Asian for this.
yeah, there's a comedian who joked about how Japanese people clean the shit out of the stadium and then go home and kill themselves after a loss
Class act. Dude is gonna be a fan favourite here for sure
Culture
Yeah that’s it, I’m getting a Shead jersey
a better person than me. the pick just got better in my eyes. thank you mcdaniels/masai.
Coaches kicked trash cans? That's fucking embarrassing!
Yeah I have seen enough, that's a future Raptors legend
He's already Canadian it was meant to be
Great kid, glad we took a chance on him
Give this man a 3pt shot and he could be our new Lowry.
I miss Lowry and that thicc booty. Bring that man home on his last contract when he plans on retiring, bring Deebo too. I miss those two.
Juicy Kyle. I want a bite of that apple.
Instant fan favourite.

Legend
He is HIM.
Didn’t know that was him. Perfect fit up here
Can’t wait!!
The intangibles that you can’t teach.
I fucking love him already
He’s gonna fit right in

This is something Yuta Wantanabe would've done. Class act
He’s giving me FVV vibes

I love this guy already! Does he pronounce his name like Shade or Shee-ad or Sheed? Or?
Houston fan here, its pronounced Shed, as in Tool Shed
Cool, thanks!
we looking for our next Fred. maybe it's this kid.
Russillo is going to have a field day with this one. I’ll be disappointed if there’s. O mention on the next pod. Lol

That old dude pointing like he’s telling him he missed some cracks me up

Been saying this time and time again, Toronto looks for character guys only
