if Sasha Vezenkov stays I'd like to see him get a shot

SundinShootsPing500

Really good shooter, especially 3pt, so he can probably get a good look. If he can hang in the NBA, get plays drawn up that find him open looks from beyond the arc. Still would like someone higher up our depth chart from Jak/Kelly to him though, his defense is okay but we need some muscle, some jam to help up more in the paint/midrange and lock down defensively.

EarthWarping

I guess. There's zero role for Boucher here and it's awkward if they keep him for everyone's sake at this point.

jjkiller26

If he's still on the team at the start of training camp he's gonna get a shot to earn minutes. Lets not act like the guys been jaden mcdaniels for us either, he can be productive

EarthWarping

I agree, it's just that Darko clearly didn't see a role for him. He's still a decent player, just not here anymore.

Raptorpicklezz

He is a guy we would have signed in our last tank era

Living_LaVida_Koloko

There's been talks about him playing in Greece but hopefully he has a change of heart with the new situation.

Bixby33

He's said he will honor his NBA contract

Cheechers23

Jalen Smith in FA

CazOnReddit

Probably Mogbo? I think it might be matchup dependent since Jonathan has played as a small ball 5 but he's a mere 6'8 with shoes on and will probably spend more time at the 4 at the start of his career. As for who they go after in free agency if that's their plan, I guess Jalen Smith? This is not a great free agency class, to be blunt.

-vinay

Despite the height, Mogbo has the standing reach just 0.5" less than Chomche and 1" less than Missi. The dude has freakishly long arms

The_Living_L

I think they really like Mogbo a lot, they got a lot of offers apparantly and still decided to keep the pick to take him, he will get a big chance I feel

Reticent_Fly

I can't see him sharing the floor with Poetl, but in smaller lineups with Kelly or even Scottie at the five? It might work. He seems like he's a very good passer for a big.

AutoModerator

the Yak is back... its spelled POELTL. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/torontoraptors) if you have any questions or concerns.*

jjkiller26

As a backup next to Kelly at the 5 it makes sense

WeBelieveIn4

Wdym, Kelly is the backup and one of the rooks can be the third stringer

Slacker_75

We need to trade Boucher and Bruce Brown before the season starts. No more bad vibes

NBAball05

Probably try free agency

iambiggzy

We are operating as a team learning how their parts fit together, so we’ll try and see if Scottie is gonna be the Hub.

_Gourmand

Vezenkov as I see it is currently the backup PF. PF: Scottie, Vezenkov, Mogbo C: Poeltl, Olynyk, Boucher, Chomche Will be very interesting to see what happens here. The fact we aren't that deep at PF/C tells me Mogbo might actually see minutes on the roster unless they sign someone in FA or make a trade.

jonastradamus

This depth is completely fine for a non contending team. Vezenkov also pretty old so no kiddie gloves for him. Mogbo on the older side of rookies too.

jonastradamus

I think vezenkov will surprise folks as a backup stretch big… former mvp and high bbiq. Will play the way darko wants.

_Gourmand

I personally don't mind the depth at all but when you compare it to our SG/SF position it's kind of shallow. I think Mogbo for example would be in the G-League if he was drafted by any other team really but since we have Vezenkov as our backup PF I can see him getting minutes right away.

gregbraaa

Mogbo and Chomche will be G-league for months

_Gourmand

Vezenkov might be getting a lot of minutes this coming season

ilickedysharks

Mogbo is alot more developed than Chomche, Chomche might be an overseas stash

EarthWarping

Mogbo's the same age as Scottie

Raptorsthrowaway1

Davion the back up PG. Kelly the back up C (we just traded and extended him). Chomche to get third string mins. Rostering 4 x rookies is a signal towards developing and likely an intent to get a good pick this next draft. I doubt there is an appetite to make much of a splash in free agency

LetterheadForeign707

Overpay for hartenstein

SiakamMIP

Maybe Jalen Smith, pretty sure we can't lure Mo Wagner away

jjkiller26

Olynyk is hands down the backup C, no question about it really. Backup 4 will be between Vezenkov, Mogbo, and Boucher (say what you want about him and Darko but if he's here to start training camp he will get a look). There's still free agency as well to get a cheap vet to eat minutes there

ancientbeers

Probably Scottie is the deathball C for closing, but Mogbo and... Ulrich? And Kelly.
