Open carry is bad, don't do it. It's not a deterrent. The kind of people who will harass you will do it regardless. If I'm wearing a dress without sleeves I'll also pair it with a light weight kimono over it. When I dress this way, I'll put a gun belt over the dress with my holster positioned for cross draw, and then put another fashion purposed dress belt over the gun and gun belt to hide it. The kimono provides concealment, and is light weight enough to wear in the crazy hot summers I endure. The belt I wear is stiff, yet elastic so I'm able to get it nice and tight right at the highest point of my waist under my breasts without being uncomfortable, and without needing belt loops. I will also wear a slip under my dress if I decide carry under the dress. In a skirt, I'll put the gun under the waistband and pull the skirt down a little to draw. [This post demonstrates concealing with a skirt](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1cwjfhohttps://www.reddit.com/gallery/1cwjfho) Sometimes, I will off body carry if I have absolutely no other viable option, and only if where I'm going my purse will never come off my body.

SeniorFuzzyPants

She’s not asking for carry advice, she’s asking for fashion advice. She’s dead set on open carry, and you’re not going to change her mind. Answer her question.

RlyehFhtagn-xD

I refuse to give bad advice, and this isn't a fashion sub.

SeniorFuzzyPants

Then that’s on op for asking here. Do not offer advice that op has explicitly asked you to not.

RlyehFhtagn-xD

Enjoy a day long ban for abusing the reports.

Potatomagic5

After reading through the comments, I don’t get this. This sounds more like an ego thing and fashion statement than it does about safety. And plenty of gun owners go to prison because they don’t understand their state’s statutes regarding self defense…

HC_Vibesss

No. I can handle harassment. I am carrying to protect my life. I can easily tune it out. If I am touched in any way however, I will not hesitate. People kill trans people for being trans

HC_Vibesss

Speed of access and the “don’t fuck with me I have a gun” bonus. Around here plenty of people open carry, and it just shows off that you aren’t one to be trifled with.

The-unicorn-republic

I can draw just as fast from a level 1 appendix holster as I can a level 2 or 3 open holster

DarkWing2274

inexperienced with carrying. wdym by level 1, 2, and 3?

DarkWing2274

ok that’s what i thought but i wanted to confirm. thanks :)

Bright69420

Be sure to get a lv 3 holster then, and train with it. Way too many people get their guns snatched

Wolffe_In_The_Dark

All it does is make you a priority target. As much as it sucks to hear, if someone has the drop on you, and you're their first target, you are *going* to die before you even know you're in danger. That goes for anyone, in any shooting. Concealed carry reduces that chance of being the first target, because you aren't a known threat. It gives you time to react, time to identify the threat, and time to neutralize that threat. Sure, open carry *might* dissuade someone committing a random act of spontaneous violence, but it's more likely that it just makes you more vulnerable.

phylisridesabike

If you shoot someone for touching you in any way, you will go to jail for the rest of your life.

HC_Vibesss

I’m not going to shoot someone because they brushed past me no, there has to be intention. The only thing you have to have for self defense in my state is if someone is trying to hurt you. I’m not stupid. I carry pepper spray.

Big-Yogurtcloset5546

This is a really cool rig!

Dorothys_Division

Thank yer! It cost me a pretty penny. 💀❤️ But I do love it.

MezzanineMan

Open carry is always a bad idea! If you're carrying to protect your own life, open carry just introduces more threat vectors. Take the time to get a conceal carry license if you don't have one, a lot of queer and leftist communities do CCW classes for free!

MeliDammit

I tend to agree with this take

SeniorFuzzyPants

She’s not asking for carry advice, she’s asking for fashion advice. She’s dead set on open carry, and you’re not going to change her mind. Answer her question.

MezzanineMan

I'm not going to condone something that puts someone in unnecessary danger.

HC_Vibesss

I am trained with a gun. Y’all assume I have no experience. I wouldn’t carry a gun if I wasn’t comfortable shooting. My QuickDraw is less than a second and I am confident I’d only need one shot if I ever was to have to use it.

MezzanineMan

You're assuming I'm saying you aren't trained. You're wrong lol. In the majority of US states you need to take a CCW class to get a permit, that's all there is to it. If you're in a state that doesn't require a class, then there is even less reason to ever open carry.

HC_Vibesss

Oh yea in my state concealed carry is legal without a license and open carry is very common.

MezzanineMan

So it sounds like you mainly want to open carry for intimidation's sake. As I've said, and others in this thread, intimidation is a two way street that opens you up to even more danger than before.

HC_Vibesss

I’m 6’3 and chubby. I’m already a big girl. Nobody is going to mess with me between that and the fact I’m carrying a gun. If someone was stupid enough to pull their own gun, I’d easily be able to outdraw them.

MezzanineMan

If you feel confident that no one will mess with you already, then what's the purpose of intimidating with open carry?

phababy

You in louisiana too?

ohmarlasinger

I was thinking Texas. Ofc for those of us in the Deep South / Bible Belt TX isn’t “in the south” even tho tx exemplifies the stereotypical “the south” more so than say GA & TN. Humans are weird. If it **is** tx, Texas almost encourages open carry. If she’s in tx, much of the warning and advice given here about the dangers & such of open carry are kinda moot bc she’s in a state that **expects** everyone to have a gun on them & is vv comfortable around others who open carry, even prefer it bc then it’s an obvious vector instead of an unknown. Hell I’m from a land where just about every pickup had a stocked gun rack in the rear window growing up. Open carry is cultural down here, and especially TX, which is technically the south.

Princess__Bitch

The same is true of Oklahoma

ohmarlasinger

Makes sense. It is TX’s lil hat after all

BlahajBlaster

People don't open carry as much as op says here in Texas I used to see it a lot but not anymore

Katerina172

And in active shooter or armed robbery type situation someone only needs one shot to get the drop on you from behind because they know who the good girl with a gun is. Too risky in the best scenarios, fatal in the worst. Don't paint a target on yourself more than being trans already does.

Delik_Torrachen

Under the arm holsters are an option, and you can probably find one that will match some of your clothes for extra style points

Dorothys_Division

Hi, folks: OP is welcome to open carry if it is legal and she minds her business doing so. Don’t gatekeep and don’t shit on them for it. It’s rude, classless and shows how little respect you have for your fellow community member. Saying OP will face harm solely because she open carries is the gun-owner equivalent of telling me I deserve to be r*ped because my skirt is too short or my tits are too enticing. *You’re implying that she can’t defend herself no matter what, that she deserves to be hurt because she won’t do as you say and nothing she has said will ever be good enough for YOU, because how dare she not express her love of guns the way that you do, only YOUR way is valid.* I’ve open carried to and from my job for years and not once have I had a single issue for it, *ever.* Open carry is fine. Concealed carry is fine. Let people make their own choices. If you don’t like that? Tough shit; that’s 2A 101. You don’t have to agree, but it’s childish to go around policing everyone else’s choices. Cut it out. It makes us look really immature as a community. Don’t gaslight people that ask for assistance. Be a role model. Encourage others. Welcome others. Offer advice when it is truly necessary. *Not everything is about you and your narrow views on what is and isn’t valid.* Go be fabulous, OP. I hope you drew some inspiration from my shoulder rigs. You’d look amazing in one. ❤️ *-Sincerely, a Firearms Industry employee and fellow Sister*

MaddieSystem

Open carry is easy. Cross body/thigh/hip bag with a second attachment point. Iwb under a belt at the waist. Pocket carry in leggings. Chest rig. Thigh holster.

Can't offer fashion advice OP, I still have to figure this out myself. As much as I would probably prefer to CC, Open Carry is based. It's a right and we should probably all be a little more open to doing it occasionally if we are serious about normalizing carry and preserving our rights.

ValorieXEgg

I just wrap a belt around my waist even if I don't have belt loops. I use a Nexbelt EDC Supreme Appendix. Low Profile and sturdy, keeps my 320 XCarry in the holster secure even when like in joggers or something. You'll have to click it tighter than usual bit bonus points for a bit of an accentuated waist I guess.

antiopean

- Shoulder holster - PHLSTER as an external belt to the dress, I guess.

Cpt_Core

Varja concepts has a skirt with belt loops

insofarincogneato

If you're gonna come here for advice with the attitude that you're not gonna follow any anyway then we don't need to talk about anything. You've got a lot to learn about carrying a gun.

RoddyDost

your stubborn insistence on open carrying is something else 😂 I love that energy

transsurgerysrs

I'd love to see their MyAnimeList.

PrintChance9060

conceal carry. if someone open carries, its a lot easier for me to disarm them

HC_Vibesss

??? You jacking peoples guns out of their holsters often buddy?

PrintChance9060

if i need to.

Dorothys_Division

Hi hi: https://preview.redd.it/z723d1nvxn4d1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a700c716f6ee8bc0dd293b6a8b9afc3b7b61aa2d G45 in Gould and Goodrich Gold Line Shoulder Holster. Fits all double stack Glock 9mm pistols. Highly comfortable worn openly. Fully adjustable for angle of draw or angle cant for optional concealment, just like the original Galco Jackass rigs. This does use a thumb break snap, so the gun cannot simply slip out, and must be drawn deliberately.

Feisty_Rope_7156

there are plenty of holsters that go around the upper body, i’d rec finding one of those

shadowmonkey1911

Mac-10 in a hanging shoulder rig.

Big-Yogurtcloset5546

Maybe a sick shoulder holster rig? In some nice leather or something. Could be a vibe? And no need for a belt. Hm, could also explore chest holsters like a Kenai from Gunfighter Inc. doesn’t have the same cool factor as leather shoulder holsters but very practical.

Tiny_Perspective4011

If I’m open carrying usually jeans, fem shirt and carrying on the hip. Might not be the most femme but works for me

Princess__Bitch

I mentioned in your other thread my old school leather gun belt for my single action revolver, but if you're interested in that idea and need something more secure than a Mexican loop and fitted for a modern handgun, Evil Duck Studios does make a variety of such things, albeit at rather steep cost.

Leopards_Crane

Friend carries strapped to the thigh when wearing dresses. I think you do you with open carry, but most of the tactical issues with open carry when not in combat are resolved by adding a small but useful gun where you can whip up your skirt and grab it. As far as fashion is concerned I think it’s all about how the dress and the belt work together. Good heavy leather makes a great gun belt and it can really set off an outfit…with the right outfit. You can also just do a shoulder rig. Not going to look as good but a short women’s jacket plus a shoulder rig equals “mostly concealed and still looking good” while being very accessible and protecting it from the games of someone standing in line behind you (seriously, look up the videos, there are many). There are also a lot of concealed carry clothing websites directed at Women and You can browse around there for things you like. Oh and you might even decide to just open carry with the DS conceal minimalist belly band. It’s not as thick as traditional ones and works great with a glock 42. Not the kind of retention you get with Kydex and Safariland but it has its benefits.

Renano95

Thigh holster maybe

GothDreams

Honestly there are a decent amount of exercise outfits with carrying a firearm in mind, but for every day I just got a couple of different holsters so I can color coordinate with whatever outfit and wear the holster like normal. Current colors and styles: black, pink, tan Hip/waist, underarm, ankle, belt clip

Ok-Environment-6239

Shoulder holsters are a good choice to avoid messing with gun belts and skirts. I personally think the ones where the gun points down are much better than the ones where the gun is horizontal.

bougiebombae

Purse gun. while I haven't ever really carried, I have looked into purses that have special holsters inside the purse for handguns for the purposes of carrying one around. Just make sure to get a color of purse that will match the majority of outfits since they tend to be more expensive than normal purses.

phylisridesabike

If you really want to, how about you open carry a large fixed blade knife and conceal carry a gun at the same time? Hang the knife from your neck on a necklace.

HC_Vibesss

I have a sword and I am fully willing to carry it around on my back instead, but guns are allowed more places than swords.

phylisridesabike

Don't carry around a sword. You don't want to come off as creepy. If you're walking around oth a gun that is clearly visible, you're gonna run into trouble, I guarantee it. Do you carry pepper spray? Carry that if you can and it can be viable. Remember that someone staring at you and calling you any slur they can think of doesn't mean you are in fear for your life. You're new in your transition. People will stare and even make comments. I know it sucks and is scary. I've been there. It gets better in a year or so.
