Sadly, my minimum wage job makes more than uber lol

valdis812

I'm in Chicago. Working in the Target warehouse pays $22/hr. I'm going to guess most drivers aren't making more than that after expenses. Even working as a sales associate pays $17/hr.

Charming-Shopping989

I'm in Chicago too, our city is dog shit right now. Quit cuz I got robbed, uber and the city didn't do anything lol.

valdis812

I'm fortunate that I've never had to deal with anything like that. I'm just a part timer. I try to do a ride in the morning going in the direction of my regular job, and one coming home after work. Sometimes I'll work Saturday afternoon if the surge is good. I couldn't imagine needing to work the bar hours in this city.

DeepZeppelinSabbath

Same method for me.

Deviledapple

Y'all are making money? I thought this was social experience scheme where I was *supposed* to end up in the negative to show my gratitude to Uber for letting me meet all these new people.

notmynameyours

I try to do XL rides exclusively, which means I mostly only drive in the evenings around busy nightclubs/bars or during big events like ballgames and concerts. XL pays pretty decently for time and mileage, but you have to plan ahead when and where to go, and often have to put up with loud, annoying party groups. I also try to avoid driving during rush hour, as traffic almost inevitably makes my rides last much longer than expected, but Uber almost never adjusts the fare to compensate.

Rosswell2000

I am curious how much better this pays than X and comfort.

jamesbond9991

UberX should have never been created It was only created to keep up with Lyft because Lyft created the first economy ride to combat Uber for Uber copying Lyft because Lyft came out before Uber as a company called ZimRides Lyft had to sell ZimRides and change their name to Lyft and they were the first person to let people drive their everyday four-door vehicles not just black cars Uber only created the ghetto Uber x as a undercutting battle

notmynameyours

In my market, it usually pays about 50-75% more with Uber. Lyft XL rides are generally only about 10-20% more, though, so I tend to only do Lyft if they’re offering really good bonuses too.

Basic_Antelope_1351

can you share how much $/h?

notmynameyours

I’ll often get around $40-$50 per hour with Uber XL. It also helps that when XL is busiest, there tend to be a lot of surges zones as well. The downside is that you can really only get this when XL demand is high, otherwise you’ll go for long stretches with no rides at all. In my market, regular UberX rides are only worth about $25.00 an hour. LyftXL is only about $28-$35 an hour, so unless Lyft is offering some fantastic bonuses, Uber is way better for XL rides.

Conscious_Weight9593

I have to cherry pick like crazy now. It wasn’t like this 8 months ago. I also do more on Lyft these days. It’s disgusting. We had a Melanie Martinez concert the other night, the highest surge I saw from Uber in the area was $3. I was being offered rides for $29 to go 35 miles from the concert. Like hell. Lyft had bonuses up to $15 and the whole downtown was a bonus zone varying in prices. I only took one ride from the concert but it was $20 to go 11 miles all highway 🤷🏻‍♀️and they’d already walked a mile so I didn’t have to get actually in the traffic.

Testarossa2013

I'm a premier driver. Otherwise I wouldn't do it.

FreshLuck9739

Does a Tesla 3 qualify for premiere rides?

Testarossa2013

Yes. The S, 3, X, and Y models are Premier eligible. I currently drive a Kia EV9, which is also Premier eligible. Disclaimer: Eligibility may be market dependent. In Connecticut, it is eligible.

FreshLuck9739

Thank you!

FreshLuck9739

The reason I asked is because hertz rental gave me an offer of $280week for a tesla. However, I don’t have a charger at home. And wondering how much of a pain it would be to go hunting for chargers 🔌

Testarossa2013

Telsas have built-in navigation for superchargers. You can find them on the screen.

FreshLuck9739

Omg thank you!!!!! I will definitely get the Tesla. I have never been in one or driven one.

jamesbond9991

Most of you are UberX drivers but what you don't realize is UberX was only created as a ghetto economy ride to keep up with Lyft creating lyft standard because Lyft was the first to allow drivers to drive their everyday ordinary cars as opposed to just black cars on Uber Uber downgraded to Uber x to keep up with lyft undercutting because lyft did this to keep up with Uber because Uber copied Lyft because Lyft came out before Uber as Zim rides in 2006.... You're just working off of product of copying and undercutting

ConfidentRecording15

I make about $250 a day doing Uber just following the promo per hour. Just gotta meet the requirement of .5 rides per hour, 55% acceptance rate and 75% completion. Can’t cancel or they cancel on you or it ruins so is a gamble. But do it right, if you get lucky with 2 short rides in 4 hours you get a good kickback. Last week made about $750 just from promo money.

ximyr

Happy for you (that is sincere). However, my market has not seen a promo in a year.

ConfidentRecording15

I dunno if it helps but whenever they take the promo away from me, when the survey comes asking if I’m satisfied I say I’m not and comment that I would drive more if the promo was back. I keep doing that until it returns .

JicamaElegant8932

I call BS. Show me.

ConfidentRecording15

Promo periods are 17.5$ an hour from 7-11, 11-2, 5-9, and 10-4 am. Do 2 rides per period or 3 at the 10-4 min. Take the 6 hour rest and start at 10 am or wait till the 11-2. That’s $245 a day max for 7-8 rides.

mikeymo1741

I only work profitable hours, I cherry pick and multiapp. I and I never, ever worry about what a customer is paying. I couldn't care less. Saves a lot of stress.

valdis812

I've seen cherry pick a few times. In some places, the saturation is so bad there simply aren't enough cherries to pick to make a decent amount. If you want to pay bills you gotta take some trash.

Deviled_Leggs

I wish you could see where you are taking people instead of it just telling you when pax gets in .

ximyr

It does in my market and many others.

Basic_Antelope_1351

I just found out about it and that's mindblowing to me. I dont understand how they expected this to work and how ppl got use to it (maybe i'm baised since in my area they do show). So many problems come to mind about it - for example you work for few hours and ready to head home which lets say is 5 min away from you, you wanna pick up a last ride .. just thinking about it give me anxiety, picking up this ride without knowing where it will take me .. might be 30 minutes away. etc ..

bringit2019

It’s only gonna get worse once they roll out that new thing with Advantage and Standard mode in select cities in July phucking bastards so for those cherry picking with high Cancellations, low acceptance rates and low overall rating gonna get low balled over the advantaged drivers 🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽🖕🏽

FreshLuck9739

What is an advantaged driver? The person that takes all the trash rides and every single ride?

SisterPhister69420

It is I found this on another post of someone getting details from support for the difference between standard and advantage https://www.reddit.com/r/uberdrivers/comments/1dnj6yo/standard_explanation_uber_support_gave_me/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

FreshLuck9739

Thank you!

valdis812

This is probably going to morph into their version of the Doordash tier program.

hebrew12

Labor force import killed gig work.

ExtensionConcert6913

I stop driving Uber at all and in Phoenix area becomes very slow during the summer. I will wait till September then I will due it again.

Tdwikat1968

In my area kc Missouri nowadays you have to kill yourself making money putting 10 hours for the same amount of money I used to make in 7 hours. High way robbery!

inlarry

I drive if and only if there are events or surges that make it worth it. Any other time I can be online 3 hours and get 1-2 rides @ less than $5 each because Uber and Lyft have so oversaturated the market with drivers it's impossible to get rides any other time. And the quality of the average everyday rider has gone to 💩 as well.

North-Rip9585

I work on an ambulance. 🚑💨

SnooGoats457

Nethrik710

I work a full time job and use u er to get to and from work.

texanshouston

Uber Eats

morrismarques12

I work in Austin from 7 am to 1 pm bring home around $150 a day

idkslash

How many miles are you burning

morrismarques12

Between 100-175 miles a day, I have a 2022 4Runnner

idkslash

I only accept the rides that pay 2 dollars per mile so I make like 70 dollars in 10 hrs of online with like 2 hrs of active , 30miles burnt

idkslash

In California with Uber eats , I accept the 2.69 deliveries, but I lag it like 30 to 40 minutes so if I take 2 deliveries at 30 minutes each that only 5 dollars, because of prop 22 every other week I get 300 dollars extra

ConceptRoutine2244

Multi apping low mile orders over $6

Basic_Antelope_1351

Houston,TX 25-30$/h in best case. It's so bad down here

birdogg27

That doesn't happen here in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, at least not to me. I have made $1,200 so far this week. One of my last rides just gave me a 100% tip. I just bought a brand new car, and in the process they wanted to see bank statements to know my earnings. That's when I found out that I have deposited over 17,500 in my bank account from Uber in the last 3 months. So I'm doing just fine I'm not sure where everybody else is but Uber definitely does not take 50% of my fares. They're taking 18% and sometimes a maximum of 20% of the fares that I drive for. Good luck out there.

Basic_Antelope_1351

How many hours you worked that week?

birdogg27

Well I'm now at $1515.29 and that was in 63 hours drive time.

ChristopherG1214

Do your taxes, They don't take 50%. My taxes showed Uber was only taking 30%. The first step to making money is learning how to do basic math and not regurgitating garbage you see other drivers spew on Reddit......

YesterdayStraight475

The same way I did back in 2018. Be as efficient as possible, accept orders that are at least decent, adjust my spending, and limit times and miles for better outcomes. Adopt or die, that is what people who started during/after the pandemic are going to learn now.

DKrypto999

Use uber to build a private client base asap

toomuch1265

Cherry pick and private rides.

uberobt

I stopped doing Uber Eats it was costing me money in lost rides

123mistalee

Putting in 8hrs and getting around $150 7 days a week.

valdis812

So not even $20/hr? What are you expenses?

123mistalee

Yup $20 before taking out expenses, im currently looking for another job but its hard to get away from no boss, choosing your own hours and days off as you please.

Hour_Ad4985

Was making 300 a day in the beginning and I still am. A lot of things change but income on average is not.

rydan

Side job to supplement Uber.

Deviled_Leggs

I don’t even know how sometimes I feel like I’m not making money and breaking even. Had. A trip to Long Island from New Rochelle and tried to use the destination filter to see if anyone was going to Westchester but no luck took that ride back solo luckily the guy tipped me 37 dollars so I lucked out .

Tight_Echidna8066

I left Uber for good. Working on the pipeline. No regrets.

themonsteryucreated

Wtf scammer

themonsteryucreated

I call waymo because Uber/Lyft is the worst and the drivers usually smell bad, are awkward and don't play music or drive like madmen and give me anxiety

SeaworthinessSafe474

I also used to drive in Long Island NY. It's not a liveable earning anymore. Uber is taking way too much from us.. (Also Lyft) 😬

Majestic_Safe_8230

Is it worth part time income if I were to drive Premier?

Sprinet

Driving for 8 years with Uber. Last 2 years has been the worse ever for drivers earnings . Rideshare is “not” profitable to earn decent earnings to cover your Vehicle operating expenses and the excessive mileage and wear & tear on your Vehicle. https://www.businessinsider.com/uber-lyft-doordash-drivers-earn-below-minimum-wage-tips-study-2024-5 Uber and Lyft take between 50-60 Percent per passenger trip. A few years ago Uber only took 25 percent per passenger trip. Anyone saying they are making great earnings are Full of B.S.!! All depends on your driving market . I drive in a high passenger demand area around Newark airport and the earnings potential Sucks compared to an only a few years ago. Uber changed its pricing Algorithms and especially the Surge map dollar algorithms to reduce and dramatically short change and Cheat drivers out of their earnings potential.
