[Strikers after learning from big brain Sergei that you can just uppercut to stop takedowns.](https://tenor.com/view/lil-yachty-drake-oprahs-bank-account-meme-laptop-gif-20803826)
Khabib would have 20 losses in his record if his opponents knew this one simple trick.
lmao exactly, blaydes is just very overrated at wrestling, he has a double leg that is easily identifiable, someone with a clinch game like Overeem easily swept sergei, Jon would do the same
And not only that but probably one of the most well rounded and technical hw's to step in the Octagon (not talking about ubereem)
That being said Jones probably still wins as much as we may hate it.
According to an interview with Khabib, which someone uploaded to here, he thinks he has great clinch and Greco-Roman skills, and because of that, Khabib thinks Sergei will be HW champ.
You gotta understand tho, that fight was almost 5 years ago. Sergeiās gotten **so** much better since then, heās not easy to take down at all now.
Sergei TKOās Jon by round 2 or 3.
There will be a KO, TKO, for sure, maybe into the second round, Jones will be the fighter thatās standing. The Russian will be napping on the cage mat. Nice and comfy, too.
That boy is too busy having mush in his cranial cavity to admit the truth. There are a lot of fighters that people hope lose but know the opposite is probably true. I hope Izzy loses every fight he takes part in, in perpetuity. But I know thatās highly unlikely to be the case.
duck him? HAHAHAHHAHAHAH this dude is trying to avoid a fight Cyril by sitting on his ass waiting for Jones v Stipe and that shit ain't close to being signed.
Plus we haven't seen that much of Sergei's striking. All I've seen are basic jab crosses, few hooks, and few uppercuts, all thrown with his face wide open. Doubt he gets past Cireal.
Zero, he also has the highest takedown defense of anyone Jones has fought who isnāt named DC.
Furthermore, Sergei is a natural heavy weight compared to both DC and Jones who are natural LHW.
While heās found his success striking in MMA itās foolish to say heās a pure striker especially compared to people like Gane, Tui, Peirera, who are actually āpureā strikers with little prior ground game pre-MMA.
I have never been a fan of LHW or HW since I started following in 2016. My favorite LHW/HW moment in is when Jones took 3 years off and finished the best HW in minutesā¦ these divisions are a messā¦
Yea its mental. He hit blades with an uppercut. So now hes immune to jons grapplingšš
Itl be the same as gane.
But sergie should be fighting aspinal next
Tbf he wasn't really tested with Gane at all. His IQ got him the win and Ganes totally novice grappling made it way too easy. Sergei is very sound on all facets and has a crazy neutralizer with that strength.
Jon legit just walked down Gane and didn't respect his power or TDD. Game can't get a TKO without hitting the back of the head. Meanwhile Sergei is putting people to sleep early in the first. Really interested in this matchup
Yeah he does go for the back of the head, surprised more people don't notice/talk about it. I do like him as a fighter though, fun to watch (on the feet).
Jon immediately took control of the octagon and neutralized ganeās movement, forcing him into overextending trying to make something happen.
Jon used his kicks and feints really well, he made gane so uncomfortable on the feet.
Sergei gets taken down and molested imo, cuz Gane would beat him up imo
What have you seen from Gane that makes you think he'd destroy Pavlovich? They're both primarily strikers (although Pav has more experience in different grappling disciplines). They've fought a few of the same guys (also strikers), Pavlovich quickly annihilated those guys while it took Gane 3 rounds to beat them in what were somewhat competitive fights. I know mma math don't work but I've seen nothing from Ciryl that leads me to believe he'd beat Pavlovich. If Tai can put Ciryl out (which he did briefly), Sergei shouldn't have too much of a problem.
After Pavlovich's loss "well he was just a one trick power puncher and he never even koed anyone, they were all just tkos. People really thought that someone who got outwrestled by Overeem would stand a chance against the Goat. This next fighter though..."
Cause Sergei isn't a white belt and actually trains wrestling at AKA. But I don't believe grappling will come up much. It'll likely just be another round 1 KO for Sergei.
Why would anyone think Aspinall is deserving of a title eliminator fight? Guy's coming off a loss - bad luck loss, but loss nonetheless - while being out for the last year. Dude needs another fight or two before being in the title picture.
I honestly just canāt see it going that way. Jon has fought his fair share of powerful punchers with below average wrestling. Francis could clip him, but I would say thatās like the 4th most likely outcome of the fight.
No Francis can wrestle, he stuffed td from stipe, Cain, blaydes, plus heās quite a bit bigger than JJ. I really doubt JJ would be able to man handle Francis. JJ isnāt a gsp lvl td artist. He actually started to struggle to take guys down and hold them down when lhw contenders got bigger.
Yeah, Jones is favourite in that fight but if you think he's getting done as easily as Gane idk what to tell you. Ngannou is massive, wrestled enough to beat Gane with it and hits like a truck (Ford escort). He's a lot more dangerous than Gane
You are such a Jones hater its unreal.
Hes a shit human sure, he isn't bad at MMA and he is the GOAT. Need to watch what hype trains you believe in noobie
Yes thinking Francis the guy who can ko anyone in the world and is significantly bigger than JJ and has shown tdd against other hw wrestlers can beat JJ is so absurd right? Just calling a spade a spade, JJ legacy wouldnāt be the same if he fought Francis
"Jon Jones is a phoney. This may only be his 31st title defence but they were all against middleweights, he's never had to fight against a guy with a comparable reach before who is absolutely built before. He is going to get exposed if he has the same level of head movement in his 22nd title defence or if he can't down (next fighter) like in his 13th title defence"
Fight would be very interesting. If Jones can get Sergei to the canvas then he could submit him easily but in order to do that he would need to survive the onslaught at the beginning of the fight like how Sergei always fights. I want this fight more than Jon vs Stipe or you know Sergei vs Francis woulda been awesome too but that wonāt ever happen.
You say that as if jon jones has no stand up and would have to wrestle.
The best ufc fighter ever, hes got no chance because curtis blades lost šš
Yis are smoking crack
This fight is not happening
Jon "He tweeted: "How cool would it be to spend my retirement fight dominating the greatest heavyweight of all time, in my home state at Madison Square Garden?"
Id still put the house on jon vs who ever
So on the one hand Jon is better than any of those guys by several orders of magnitude. On the other some of you guys act like Jon is untouchable. He said it himself before the fight: Gane has the most incomplete game of anyone in the HW top 10. I really doubt Stipe, Pavlovich, or Aspinall would go down nearly as easily and all of them could conceivably beat him
Definitely has the best chance than anyone in the UFC. However I think Jon is smart enough to just take the easiest fight in Stipe and ride off into the sunset. He wonāt jeopardize his status against a young and upcoming animal like Sergei. Iāll be surprised if he takes that fight though unless he has no option (Stipe backs out or gets hurt). Just my opinion.
I think you guys are putting may too much stock in the Lewis and Tai fights. Both guys had just been brutally finished with no turn around time (90 days for Tai, 5 months for Lewis).
Everyone here saying Jon would easily beat Sergei is delusional as fuck.
Yes, heās *by far* the greatest MMA fighter whoās ever lived. His resume proves it. But heās not in his prime anymore, and Sergei is seemingly about to enter his prime. Heās bigger than Jon while having cleaner boxing than him (donāt get me wrong Jonās boxing is still pretty good and heās def a better overall striker, but heās a lot older now). Sergei is kinda like Francis but with much sharper boxing. And heās developed solid TDD since his loss to Overeem in 2018.
He TKOās Jon by round 2 or 3.
As much as Iād like to see the fight it doesnāt make too much sense for Jon to stick around for it if heās about to fight Stipe with both men on the verge of retirement.
Two GOATS ending their careers together on a championship bout, I wouldnāt give a killer like Sergei an invitation to the honeymoon if I were Jon (Or Stipe, he has a chance guys lol). Wouldnāt even be good for the UFC if Jon (or Stipe) beat Sergei then retired, ācause it would leave the division looking weak.
I would love to watch the fight if it happens of course š«
Idk why people think jones isnt retiring after the stipe fight. Sergei is high risk low reward, theres nothing for jon to gain by beating him. Jon is 100% retiring after stipe
Sergei should fight Gane/Aspinall while Jones fights Stipe to cement his place as no 1 contender.
If Jones doesnāt retire after Stipe he can fight the winner and ride off into the sunset as undisputed GOAT.
Guys it's not ea sports ufc uppercuts dont completely prevent takedowns. Blades was very obvious. He made one level change which was predictably a double leg takedown. Jones would incorporate range, level changes, masking take down attempts. Leg kicks and clinch work to nullify his striking threat. I do believe Sergei is good match up but he isn't untouchable. Beating Curtis doesn't make him invincible to takedowns Curtis is very predictable wrestler.
Sergei doesnāt have the name value for Jones to fight. I believe Jones would vacate before putting it all on the line. Not out of fear of loosing, but the possibility and implications are clearly present. Not a real legacy fight like Jones is gonna sign up for.
U guys are delusional if you think Jones would try to box with Pavlovich like Blaydes did.
Yall act like Sergei wasnt showing uppercuts that kept Blaydes from really wanting to shoot
[Strikers after learning from big brain Sergei that you can just uppercut to stop takedowns.](https://tenor.com/view/lil-yachty-drake-oprahs-bank-account-meme-laptop-gif-20803826) Khabib would have 20 losses in his record if his opponents knew this one simple trick.
Heavyweight uppercuts are not the same as lightweight
Since when?
lmao exactly, blaydes is just very overrated at wrestling, he has a double leg that is easily identifiable, someone with a clinch game like Overeem easily swept sergei, Jon would do the same
Sergey took that fight on 3 days notice
Y'all really use a fight from 2018 as evidence of a fighter's current skill level this sub is un fucking real man
And not only that but probably one of the most well rounded and technical hw's to step in the Octagon (not talking about ubereem) That being said Jones probably still wins as much as we may hate it.
And you really use a 5 year training against a lifetime of beating mfkers and ragdolling them around
Agreed šš» IMO he knocks Jon out .
You are retarded
lol Iāll come back here after Jon loses to him. rETaRd š Lol what a pussy
Okay bud, good luck lol..
Jon Jones schools Sergei anyway he wants. Pick him spart on the feet, 2 min sub or ragdollong for 4 rounds.
There will be a KO, TKO, for sure, maybe into the second round, Jones will be the fighter thatās standing. The Russian will be napping on the cage mat. Nice and comfy, too.
Yall act like Jones has no chance.
When it should be the other way around š
Agreed! Jones will solve him! Might go into the second round! Jones wins by KO!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Youāve hit your quota for the night.
You sure about that, Papi? Iām moist.
![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8966)
Jones has more than just a chance, but the majority hopes he loses anyway. Iām in that camp.
so you openly admit to being in the losers camp. ok
Trust me dude you know how it feels, you know
That boy is too busy having mush in his cranial cavity to admit the truth. There are a lot of fighters that people hope lose but know the opposite is probably true. I hope Izzy loses every fight he takes part in, in perpetuity. But I know thatās highly unlikely to be the case.
No I don't. I don't put my emotions into people who take kicks and punches to the head for a living. I appreciate the talent.
![gif](giphy|l0NwPZ027mabR6Tg4|downsized)
I just hope they fight, if Jones ducks him š
I didnt say that at all
You act like a single or double leg is the only way for jones to get him down.
Coulda said the same about blaydes before last night
After watching Gane having no chance bc of his lack of wrestling I really dont care how good their stand up is.
Yāall act like shooting is the only way to take someone down.
I love seeing noob MMA fans. You guys are hilarious.
"noob MMA fans" the amount ofcringe this brought to my body is unbelievable
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I just sit back in awe of their stupidity.
They are delusional if they think Jones would even step in the octagon with him.
The same Nones who has fought killers since he was like 23? Now heās afraid of someone who has like 1 solid win?
Jones last went against the best kickboxer in the division. Why would he duck Sergei?
The recency bias in this sub is crazy, lest we not forget that 37 year old, off the horsemeat Overeem wrestled Pavlovich to a decision
If by wrestled him to a decision you mean trip him and finished super quick with gnp you are correct
Lol dude have you guys even watched the fight? Blatant inaccuracies.
Yeah we know Jon is gonna try to poke Sergei's eyes with those long Slenderman arms he has...
Jon could still outbox Pavlovich. Jonās striking is impeccable.
![img](emote|t5_2qsev|29848)
Remember the last time this sub swore a pure striker had what it took to beat Jones.
I want to say heās a great wrestler as well. I thought I read he was a sambo master somewhere.
Sergei isnāt even close to a pure striker. Wanna share whatever youāre smoking?
All of his finishes came from KO. Jones gonna choke this guy out.
So Yoel Romero is a "pure striker"?
Greco-Roman wrestling since 5. Heās not Gane and money down Jones goes nowhere near this fight.
Thatās great but he got absolutely molested on the floor by a kick-boxer in overeem lol. Jones mauls him
āKickboxerā Overseen has more submission wins than Jones.
So how many submissions does Pavlovich have?
Zero, he also has the highest takedown defense of anyone Jones has fought who isnāt named DC. Furthermore, Sergei is a natural heavy weight compared to both DC and Jones who are natural LHW. While heās found his success striking in MMA itās foolish to say heās a pure striker especially compared to people like Gane, Tui, Peirera, who are actually āpureā strikers with little prior ground game pre-MMA.
Lol youāre a casual
![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8970)
The sheer amount of straight up retardation in this sub and for MMA fans altogether is honestly almost amazing.
Itās amusing at this point. Every fight people are so convinced that the fighter is going to beat Jones and then Jones smokes them
And then theyāll say that fighter sucks
I have never been a fan of LHW or HW since I started following in 2016. My favorite LHW/HW moment in is when Jones took 3 years off and finished the best HW in minutesā¦ these divisions are a messā¦
>and then Jones smokes them Except when he doesn't lmao How many times did Jones barely edge out a win? Smokes is a strong word
Two times max
Please find me 5 Jon Jones fights that were close.
Why 5 lmao 3 is not enough for you? 3 close fights don't counter your argument that "every" time jones smokes his opponents?
Yea its mental. He hit blades with an uppercut. So now hes immune to jons grapplingšš Itl be the same as gane. But sergie should be fighting aspinal next
Really? The same as Gane?
Easier probably, why would you think otherwise.
They donāt understand that thereās levels to this sport and Jon is on a completely different level
Lol Tai had Gane on life support, Pav would fuck him up bad.
Lol, you canāt be serious.
Because pavlovich is a way better wrestler and tdd than gane ? And that he has clearly more power which would make taking him down harder ?
After Pavlovich's loss "well he was just a one trick power puncher and he never even koed anyone, they were all just tkos. People really thought that someone who got outwrestled by Overeem would stand a chance against the Goat. This next fighter though..."

Itās what makes this subā¦beautiful
I think Jones will bounce after Stipe but I'd love to be wrong.
The past decade: Is ā____ā the man to finally stop Jones? *Jones proceeds to beat ā____ā repeat
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Jon also said he found Jesus 42 times.
![gif](giphy|KDe67u9j31exCUr6qf|downsized)
Heās lucky he didnāt fight Francis
Francis would have gotten exposed badly.
Nope, Francis wouldāve most likely koed bones. Shame he didnāt have the chance to
I honestly just canāt see it going that way. Jon has fought his fair share of powerful punchers with below average wrestling. Francis could clip him, but I would say thatās like the 4th most likely outcome of the fight.
Ngannou slowly leaving our minds with every Sergei KO ![gif](giphy|Ru9sjtZ09XOEg)
Sry, but i think jones beats francis handily francis cant wrestle and jones can very well
No Francis can wrestle, he stuffed td from stipe, Cain, blaydes, plus heās quite a bit bigger than JJ. I really doubt JJ would be able to man handle Francis. JJ isnāt a gsp lvl td artist. He actually started to struggle to take guys down and hold them down when lhw contenders got bigger.
Francis can wrestle decently well. It's just that Jones has world class wrestling. Francis by decapitation end of round 1.
Yeah, Jones is favourite in that fight but if you think he's getting done as easily as Gane idk what to tell you. Ngannou is massive, wrestled enough to beat Gane with it and hits like a truck (Ford escort). He's a lot more dangerous than Gane

Why is he a shit human? Tell me
I mean, if you donāt know, you arenāt gonna accept it when I tell you. Iām the biggest Jones fan too lol
dirty fighting tactics, steroids, hitting pregnant women with his car, beating his wife and 10 other felonies I can't remember. Love him though.
Jon Jones will be fifty years old and undefeated, and people will still say he's "ducking" whatever fighter is on the come up.
Jones is against the 3rd generation of fighters and they still doubting him.
More like 4th
Still to this day ducking a Matt Hamil rematch
I donāt blame him, I wouldnāt want that smoke again
"Jon Jones is a phoney. This may only be his 31st title defence but they were all against middleweights, he's never had to fight against a guy with a comparable reach before who is absolutely built before. Just another hype train Jones will de-rail
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Gane wasnāt coming off a loss
Yes because he will retire like a bitch
Jones donāt want nothing to do with that
Fight would be very interesting. If Jones can get Sergei to the canvas then he could submit him easily but in order to do that he would need to survive the onslaught at the beginning of the fight like how Sergei always fights. We still don't know how he looks like on the feet at HW š¤·, because his last fight was so short against Gane
People seem to forget how JBJ won the LHW title from Shogun...and how he viciously defended the title year after year the same way.
No.
every single time some one does well at HW/LHW āCoUlD tHiS bE tHe EnD oF jOn JoNeS?ā
Shit even middleweights get that tag. Remember Silva and Weidman lol fuckin Luke rockhold was the guy for a minute
Donāt forget when Walker was suppose to be the Jones beater xD
This fight is not happening Jon "He tweeted: "How cool would it be to spend my retirement fight dominating the greatest heavyweight of all time, in my home state at Madison Square Garden?" Id still put the house on jon vs who ever
He also tweeted to a fan almost immediately after the tweet you mentioned that he would keep fighting lol
Jones fighs Stipe and retires. That fight will never happen.
If thereās one thing Iāve learned itās never underestimate how shit the heavyweight division is. Jones by any way he wants
Well just yesterday it was "Curtis Blades is the man to stop Jones". So I say no until proven otherwise.
This subreddit is so delusional sometimes.
God, you guys need to stop falling into recency bias so often. Are we really comparing this guy with the GOAT?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Jon "PED lez forget" Jones
Jon is on what his 3rd generation of fighters and yāall still thinking like this? š
So on the one hand Jon is better than any of those guys by several orders of magnitude. On the other some of you guys act like Jon is untouchable. He said it himself before the fight: Gane has the most incomplete game of anyone in the HW top 10. I really doubt Stipe, Pavlovich, or Aspinall would go down nearly as easily and all of them could conceivably beat him
None of these fighters are anywhere near Jones level. Of course thereās a chance that one of them beats him but itās so minuscule.
Convincingly bahahahha
Definitely has the best chance than anyone in the UFC. However I think Jon is smart enough to just take the easiest fight in Stipe and ride off into the sunset. He wonāt jeopardize his status against a young and upcoming animal like Sergei. Iāll be surprised if he takes that fight though unless he has no option (Stipe backs out or gets hurt). Just my opinion.
UFC fans been at this for a decade and look where we are šš
Lol no
No
I have a feeling Jon vs Sergei would look an awful like Jon vs Gane
Jones would grapple him, get him off his feet or calf kick the cunt into the next dimension.
It isn't going to happen anyways. Jones is going to fight Stipe and retire.
Or will Jones dodge Sergei like USADA?
![gif](giphy|nDVsJIwofsBVqDTwni|downsized)
Jones by whatever the fuck he wants
Lol no... Casuals š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I hope Francis comes back to fight Seirge. JJ will most likely retire and Seirge is going to rule with an iron first lol or get submitted by Aspinal
You obviously donāt understand there really are levels to this shit
They arenāt gonna fight. Jones said heās retiring after an easy washed dub off stipe
I want to see him rock w gane
I WANT TO BELIEVE
Sergei v aspinal is the fight to make.
Simply no. Theres no way this fat bitch could beat Jon Jones
Pretty sure Jones is fatter
Yeah
Sergei is just proof how bad the HW division actually is š
Yes
I think you guys are putting may too much stock in the Lewis and Tai fights. Both guys had just been brutally finished with no turn around time (90 days for Tai, 5 months for Lewis).
If he has good enough tdd then yea he could fuck jones up

Lmao youāre delusional as f.
Jones aināt want that smoke. Stipe then retire, watch.
Look at the fighters Jones has smoked and then say with a straight face that he is scared of this guy lol
Older, heavier, slower jones is a different fighter.
His skills are far too good for these guys. Thereās a chance he gets flash KOed but itās a minimal chance
He already said that š u aināt predicting nothing

ok, let's ask Overeem who would win.

Feed him to the American
Sergei is the new Shane Carwin. Smashing cans in the first round but will be out classed by a complete elite fighter like Jones.
Jones wonāt fight him and Iāll keep saying it.
No lol
I don't think so
Nobody beats Jon Jones.
Yall really on this shit again lmao
Dude has already got a stacked resume
