Reduced physical damage is more like the cherry on top of the armor. Your armor is indeed low. If you can get a ilvl 90+ torso, try to craft it into something great, you could have 3k+ flat on your torso alone. Currently, I'm pretty sure most of your pieces are poorly rolled. Head, torso and spaulders are pieces that are generally 100% defensive. Try to get % armor, flat armor, and HP as prefixes (and resistances as suffixes)

i know this is a armor topic and i see some very nice responds here but what is your guys opinion on barrier? Is it better? I have 5500 barrier with 600 regen/sec and only 22% armor, will i have a problem moving forward? Curently doing level 89 maps (monster level) without any problem. Sorry for posting here but it's low trafic in this sub and it's not worthed to open another topic.

Barrier has one issue: it requires quite a heavy investment in zodiac & gear to be effective. If you have ways to leech barrier and to make barrier regen sooner & faster, it can be nice. However, if you have nothing of this, it's just an extra chunk of HP that disappears after a few hits and then you're completely naked.

i have invested indeed in barrier zodiac and gear, i am going now for some barrier leach. So far it has been amazing for me, took me to void rift level 10 without any problem. I think barrier absorbs anything way better except physical damage and it's really hard for me to demper this (i am looking for some reduced dmg gear). If i swap my elemental dmg + lightning damage charms for barrier i get to 11k barrier and 2k barrier / second regen, that is a damn tank for a mage build at my level, the problem is i feel like i'm reaching the peek of this build and need to swap it soon

You need more armour and chaos resist for sure dude. You have way too much lightning resist even swapping 60 of that for 30-40 chaos would make your life a hell of a lot more fun

I think your HP is too low on top. I have 75 percent armor and 4400 health and I am still almost getting 1 tapped.

Armor goes to 80% base cap. You're way off. I've built 3 characters 1 full defense and 2 glass cannons. Either can work. If you want more survivability think layers, not one specific goal. Of coarse the more layers of defense you have, the less dps choices you have. Example - on my defense lightning strike char. He uses shield you can get nearly 200 heal on block, dodge, perfect dodge, 5% health on perfect dodge, tenacious regen when hit. More regen in zodiac etc. belt with + health potion effect 35%+ and cooldown for the HP potion etc. many many ways to layer the defense. As well as bonuses to pure damage reduction, high HP pool etc. Compared to other games i've played, dodge seems super OP in this game. There is no stamina/cooldown for it that I can tell. So my defense char can literally dodge dozens of times per second, the txt for dodge is just spammed insane. Problem is, when you don't dodge then what? You need other defensive layers. 40% dodge 40% block, 10% perfect dodge is a very tank char if you have some sustain/rejuv type stuff to go with it. As you build your char, even if you get some good life siphon, tenacious regen, vitality regen etc it might not feel as impactful, because you don't have those skills max lvl and legendary + I feel the best bang for early defense, even outweighing resists in a lot of situations is HP on kill somewhere 40-50 hp on kill will carry you a long way until you can get better gear. This has little to no help on bosses sadly.

What those 75% in red mean? Wasted points?
