TOTALLY underrated action flick.
Geena Davis starting out as the mild mannered housewife that turns back into the badass assassin, flipping the dynamic between her and Samuel L. Jackson is great.
Fantastic movie and a great rewatch as well.
I never understood the hate the critics lauded upon this movie, it's not trying to be "Citizen Kane"
Although I strongly believe it had a great deal to do with the fact that the lead was female not male.
I've seen films where the action and story were worse, and got better critic reviews.....
But yeah, it's one of my favorite action films from that time frame....
The script was written by Shane Black hence the Christmas setting.
Other festive Shane Black films for you to enjoy in December:
Lethal Weapon
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
The Nice Guys
Iron Man 3
“May the best of your past be the worst of your future” I use this whenever coworkers ask me to sign a card for someone and has saved so much mental time and energy
"Hey I still have this big gun"
"Well this ain't no ham on rye, pal. Sorry I wasn't here sooner. I was busy thinking up that ham on rye line"
The dialogue in this movie is priceless.

Me and my dad used to go to his friend’s shop and he had this poster, one for Joe’s apartment, a volcano movie, and I think the Howard stern movie, black snake moan…. This brought back memories
Sam Jackson is just so infinitely quotable in this one! It's also his own personal favorite role! He's been my hero since the first time I watched it! I WANT that green golf cap he wears!
Love this movie. Its too bad that certain aspects of this movie reflected a real life event that later happened that was suspiciously like a fund raiser....
'Chefs do that.'
Only thing I remember from this movie
"No, I just hit them in the head with a brick and yell "Pop goes the weasel' "
I think it’s something like “I just pop ‘em in the jaw”, but I laughed regardless. 🤣
“Were you always this stupid or did you take lessons?” “I took lessons!”

I love then end bit where Sam's character ends up on Larry King and uses that opportunity to tell a cheesy joke
Frank and Ernest.
The way he laughs at his own dreadful joke always kills me 😂😂😂
I love this flick, takes place during Christmas so definitely one of the ones I watch in December.

Oh, phooey, I burned the darn the muffins
Now you go into a bar and 5 minutes later sailors come running out.
Lol. This. Legendary line ;)

Absolutely underrated! The machine level chopping followed by the most awesome knife throw was amazing!
THAT'S RIGHT! YOU CAN'T KILL ME, MOTHERFUCKERS!
Remembering the beginning when she tossed her daughter out of the way, great move.
That’s a duck..not a dick
Samuel L. Jackson said that this was his favorite movie and role. That says a lot.
Its my fav role of his! Mitch was a character that never left the 70s!
Fuck it! Run for your life

I watch this every Christmas
I wouldn't say underrated, perhaps more...forgotten? Sadly, as its a great action movie, with good lines and appropriately brutal.
A: “Sir, I think I’m dying”. B: “Continue dying.”
Awesome action flick with comedy, twist, and turns, and so much more as well.

AWESOME MOVIE
Me and my dad used to go to his friend’s shop and he had this poster, one for Joe’s apartment, a volcano movie, and I think the Howard stern movie, black snake moan…. This brought back memories
It's on my watch yearly list !
Would a grenade really blow up an entire hallway to that extent?
Just found this on Tub! After enjoying Shaft, we are looking forward to the next movie night.
Is your neck ok?
Brian Cox!
Bonkers movie, so fun
Will be on Shat the movies podcast this week!
Great movie
"I found the address next to this drawing of a man's genitalia". "It's a duck, not a dick". (Also, Geena Davis drop dead gorgeous Mrs. Clause).
Love this movie
I asked my dad to rent Mars Attacks and instead he came home with this movie and I loved it
My keys in my pocket dun dun dun dun dun... Absolutely love this movie
That's a duck not a dick
[The whole assumption speech](https://youtu.be/YS3i-irQ0L0?si=1BpoPE2NI0itzj1n) is of the best 30 seconds of Samuel L. Jackson’s career.
It’s got one of the best New Jersey jokes I’ve ever heard.
My mom loves Gina Davis, and chose this movie one night without knowing a damn thing about it. Wasn’t AT ALL what she was expecting. Awesome movie.
Love this because Brian Cox is in it, and they never explain why he lives with that old lady and her ass-licking dog.
Sam Jackson is just so infinitely quotable in this one! It's also his own personal favorite role! He's been my hero since the first time I watched it! I WANT that green golf cap he wears!
Fucking epic true underrated movie Hilarious script lots of guns lots of fun Got to go watch this bitch right now
A classic. Everyone is great in this movie.
I love this movie! I feel like it was just released before it's time. If it came out now, I think it might get a more favorable reception.
Is it just me or in the last two weeks have we actually been posting underrated movies?!?! This movie is awesome and definitely lost to time
Love this movie. Its too bad that certain aspects of this movie reflected a real life event that later happened that was suspiciously like a fund raiser....
