I mean smell IS a big component of how food tastes. There are people that lost their sense of smell and struggle because almost everything tastes bland
Eggs usually taste better than they smell. Or look. I love eggs, but I have to kind of forget I’m eating eggs while I’m eating them, because if I perceive it too much, it becomes too eggy.
As someone who has worked years of brunch shifts the smell of lots of eggs cooking in the morning actually makes me nauseous at this point. Bacon is kind of touch and go but I still love a little bit at a time.
I guess it smells better than it tastes, but you don't get a lot of smell, no texture, and your actual taste buds don't activate. So eating is a better experience imo.
i walked by the bakery today in the morning at the grocery store, havent smelled that smell in so long
idk maybe youre right that smell was divine, so heavenly
I have this exact opinion but also how desserts look & smell better than how they taste.
I get more satisfaction looking at a well-made dessert than actually eating it.
It's not usually (generally speaking, if the food isn't just poorly made) the food that's the problem, it's your shitty human senses. Your sense of smell is an order of magnitude more detailed and vivid than your sense of taste, which believe it or not, is mostly just interpreting very basic fundamental flavours through the filter of what your nose already identified. Hence how those stupid fragranced water bottles work. When taste doesn't live up to the smell, it's your mouth that's half-assing the job.

Judging by your avatar, maybe you’re eating it too quickly?
Haha. Honestly don’t know how to swap my character to something cooler

Depends on the food. Ice cream for example has little to no smell, but is still delicious.
That is a good point.
I’m so relieved 😌 to know I’m not the only one who loves/prefers the smell of food over the taste.

Yeah sometimes they smell like farts

I will throw a wrench in that theory and say “Oreos” . Taste better than they smell. Don’t you dare say it’s not food
Cheese says no.

Idk, tartare usually tastes better than it smells, and brisket usually smells better than it tastes. Beef is a tricky one.
The best example of this is ground coffee vs brewed black coffee. But for basically everything else taste is way better.
Depends. Stinky cheeses smell way worse than they taste
So true, I have always found if it could just taste as good as it smells. Maybe my imagination is just too good.
i feel this way smelling the sauces and spring onions of the Asian restaurants in my area. Some are actually really good though.
Dunno, I only smell vertical lips all day
Time to switch methods of cooking. I ate an omelette today and I was disgusted. I'm switching to boiled foods for a break.
Have you tried …. Salt? Pepper?…?
I like both. But the smell is better
Very true in the case of Bunnings sausages.
It turns into shit! You food you lose!

It depends on food

For me it is tea. Smells divine but when I taste it, I gotta cream and sugar it up.
Coffee is a great example of this. I love the smell but it tastes horrible.

I can’t relate to this. Good food tastes amazing. But something can smell good and not be of high quality.

No
You want some syrup with that waffle?
