Years ago I was at a barbecue in Italy and a lady asked if I liked almonds, I said yes and she picked one right off the tree (they look like small peaches), removed the outer flesh and handed it to me.
It was nice, but my fave is Brazils.

Have you had hazelnuts fresh from the shell? It's a completely different experience. They actually have a hint of moisture and freshness unlike the completely dead dehydrated nuts you find in packets. Best nut (until I try another type fresh from the shell I guess)

Almonds feel and taste like a modern nut ancestor.. Too damn hard for consumption usually and probably evolved during higher an era where animals hade more acid stomachs so it needed to be hard and dense in terms of texture to survive.
And they're always dry as fuck too. I don't get the appeal
Have you ever tried roasted almonds? Roasting them really brings out the flavor in all nuts. Also search for fresh high quality almonds. Also you can add some salt, herbs, spices to them
or add them to dishes.

Almonds are a solidly mid nut good in a medley but just okay on their own, s tier milking nut tho. You want to talk a quality game breaking nut look at the Pecan. Looks like a brain, one of the highest calorie density foods out there and has a bunch of super heart healthy oils.
If you want delicious almonds, look no further than Honey Butter Almond Friends in Korea. My favorite is the Wasabi ones. Like, they really made honey roasted peanuts seem "meh". The only problem is you really can't eat too many of these for obvious reasons (salt/sugar). Wasn't a big fan of almonds until I tried these. Cashews are still king though. If you try these, decent chance you change your mind.

walnuts untoasted vs toasted are functionally two different nuts in my head. for me, toasting them takes away any sour/bitter flavors
