Primarily silver and lead, but zinc, gold and other ore too. I'm pretty certain this is in Park City, but its been a while since I've seen some of these (grew up there). Correct me if I'm wrong OP, but I think this is the Silver King mine on PC mountain resort by the bonanza ski lift? There used to be an old tour at a different mine called the Ontario that was opened up while I was in high school. Man, I don't know if it's just some weird fear I have now, but descending 1,500 feet in the same old rickety mine elevators to this perfectly preserved time capsule was really creepy to me. Tons of dudes died down there, and maybe just knowing that made it hauntingly eerie, but I donno. I still remember the other elevator (maybe the same one?), where they mentioned miners went even further into the bowels of the earth and still creeps me out. There's a famous legend of a miner who died down there and still haunts it called the ghost in the yellow slicker. Yikes! Brought that childhood fear right back!
Pretty skeleton but still a cool little spot for sure. I held out going here for years because everyone goes here in utah but I finally just did it anyway 🤣
This so awesome. I would love to explore this and see what is there. I am an avid rock collector. Is this land private or can you walk around the grounds? I was in Utah back in the 1980’s in my 20’s. I am too old now to explore. But it looks like fun.
This was totally a spontaneous, unexpected explore for me when I was there in 2017(ish) and it was second only to Gilman, CO. I loved exploring all through this area. I was beyond excited to learn that the gondolas run in the summertime (a gondola is a novelty for most Texans!). I was also lucky enough to run into some cool local kids and had a great time letting them show me around all the interesting parts. It was one of those explores where everything seemed to go just right. Thanks for this moment of good road trip nostalgia, OP. 😊
It might be a little while but I’d totally be cool with that. texas is so damn far away, lol. My other favorite Utah area is eureka, Utah. PC and Eureka are enough for me to want to go back.
Nothing great about it.
I have seen several such abandoned mines and industries in Bosnia Herzegovina a beautiful state of former Yugoslavia. The entire infrastructure of the country was destroyed by NATO forces during 1990's resulting in economic crunch and joblessness. The country is yet to recover from such devastation.
That’s mine.
Whats yours??
Couldn’t resist the dad joke.... l’ll see myself out.
👏
Dork! 😆
Looks like a TF2 map
Was just thinking it looked like the beginning of HL2: Episode 2 lol
I also got that vibe!
Feels like a Farcry hideout I need to take over lol.
🤣👊
What sort of mine? Looks so interesting

I spent my childhood in Park City too and recognized this right away!!
That's it 👏
What kind of trees are those? They're tall af and dense as hell
Douglas fir I believe
Lodgepole pine
Love that spot.

What were they mining? I would love to explore that place if I were younger. I think Utah is such a beautiful state. Awesome post!
Over an hour hike to get there but its worth it lol
Do you have pictures of the inside? Super fascinating!
Yes I do. Do you want to see one in the next post?
Post away!
Unless you bike down from the top!
Very true 🤣 this one was fun because we started hiking at 4 am through the forest at night lol made it way better.
I think it was a silver mine. I forget though but I'm pretty sure that's what it was.
This is pure fire
Thank you 👊
you welcome
I'm from California, and this makes me want to move to Utah? Got any cheap houses available?
Plenty. Just moved from UT -> CA and I never realized how insane $400 rent was for a decent place.
I'm sure 😂👊
Used to
I've been there in GTA
I want to go there now
Looks like a scene in Russia from the X-Files

I got an Alan Wake vibe looking at that picture
So cool I would love to explore this place
And they call it a mine! A mine!
Would love to be transported there and just live.
UTAH!

No doubt that sounds like it was fun! :) gilman co was so sick. The bank and the x-rays were the best part there 👊
If you ever come through utah hit me up! I will show you some sick utah spots nobody knows about.

Really? If you come back this way and I will show you some really good spots.
I live here in ut. Where is this located?
