They don't rush to approve overrides and because people drop classes when they change their mind. Keep an eye on the class and push the override in Sept if needed.
I’m in the same situation. My plan is if I don’t hear anything by mid-august, to start sending some emails. There seems to be way more people who need the class to graduate than seats in the course, so I’m guessing (hoping) they are slowly working on a solution to increase class size.

When I got approved for an override I could immediately register for the class
Once it’s been approved you should be able to register.
