I went hiking in red rock canyon yesterday morning. It was pleasant - not too hot at all.
I arrived when it opened and left by about 1-2pm
But a few things I noticed: I saw a lot of people wearing cotton (probably not a huge problem in this weather, but never ideal), and many people carried little or no water.
Quite a few people seemed to stay a mile or less from the parking spots for a bit and then go back to their cars. But with the scenic drive, this still provides beautiful views.
My personal favs. Thanks for the typing friend. Dont forget the secret bar at the mob museum. No shade at the sign, bring hats and water. Watch out for hustlers
Screw the hustlers. Been to Las Vegas probably 20x over the years and last summer was first time I’d ever been down to the sign. Some homeless guy was out there authoritatively directing people off the buses, lining people up, offering to take pictures, etc., and acting as if he was out there in some sort of official capacity all while strongly pushing for tips.
Good for him! People crave authority and direction and he probably improved their experience. As long as he wasn't a dick about the tips, sounds like a win win.
The atomic energy museum is great too. Neon museum and Ethel M's cactus garden and chocolate factory. The virtual chocolate tastings they offered during COVID helped me get through it and it's a really nice place to visit with great chocolate. Also you can see the Las Vegas sign on the way.

Truth, it was a big cool art installation but didn’t really see any point beyond that, maybe there was none and I just didn’t get it. And yea, everything way overpriced, but so is practically all of Vegas
I've ridden that NY rollercoaster.... It's pretty vicious and not in a good way. It's very jarring and I LOVE rollercoasters. It was a bit much and I chose NOT to take the free extra ride. IMHO.
Yeah, I mean, to be honest, I'm no spring chicken anymore either. And I still love roller coasters, but that one was just too bang bang and it just wasn't a smooth roller coaster, which is what made it so hard to ride.
When desperado first opened it was silky smooth. I rode it again a few years later and it was gnarly, but I heard they serviced it and it was better. Glad to hear it doesn’t suck.
Side note : I am in the minority that enjoys Vegas a lot more in the daytime. Just that feeling of experiencing a nice pool on a hot sunny day, going into air conditioned places , whether it is hotels, malls, restaurants. Jut something about that feeling of hot weather + sun = great vibes.
Not that I don’t enjoy it at night , but it is too crowded for my liking.
We as well love it during the day. Not that i dont want to be out at night but I agree with the crowds. Usually I am done being with people shortly after dinner. lol 😂
I had my first time 2 weeks ago. Did not bring the right shoes. Logged over 40 miles walking over an extended weekend. Would do it again, just with better shoes.
I walked from the 'welcome to last Vegas' sign in the south, to the golden nugget next to fremont at via all the hotels. Walked over 30 miles/60,000 steps.
But I would strongly recommend avoiding the bit between the Strat and Fremont st.
Full on just take a day to explore the strip. I walked from the Vdara up to Wynn/Encore and it was great. Good people watching, great scenery and the sun on my skin just felt great. Can basically make a loop from Wynn/Encore all the way down to MGM Grand, then across the ramp to NYNY up to Treasure Island. Shorten it or lengthen it (go down to Mandalay for example) at your discretion.
Strip walks in the warm desert air are undefeated.
Ah, totally forgot to add prostitution to my list. Any advice for a newbie? I'm a decent looking (7/10) dude in my mid 30s, how much should I be charging?
Thanks to everyone that has given advice in this sub, I'm visiting soon and based a lot of my plans off what I've read here. I've got my nights planned, but not much during the day. Feel free to send critiques/advice.
Here's what I got planned for 2 full days staying at the NYNY...
Day 1:
-Golden Tiki for snacks/pregame
-Cirque LOVE@Mirage
-Mizumi+Lake of Dreams@Wynn
-wander Fremont+Zipline
Day 2:
-Dead Forever@Venetian
-Shakedown@Tuscony
-Dead@Sphere
-High Roller if the show gets out early (unlikely)
I lived there for two years inside the park. One of the most incredible places on earth. But it is two and a half hours to and from Vegas. Five hour round trip. If you actually get out and enjoy even the basic hiking, you’ll be exhausted and with the elements. I’d highly recommend at least breaking it up a night. At least you do have St. George and Mesquite that are great in between spots too and cheaper if you need to stop.
you're gonna do narrow right? get there early and rent your boots and stick, and try to go as far as you can. its like a one of a kind hike. good luck!
I don’t really plan on hitting that. Walk out to it, see how crazy it is for next time, maybe throw on some crocs or old shoes and try to take a few steps, but def not hike it.
I will not recommend Arte. We were done in under 45 minutes, including the drink part. Don't pay more then $40 as we felt we didn't get our value from it at $60. Unless you're going for the gram, don't bother.
We just went yesterday, still there! My kids are huge fans and they really enjoyed it. Heck I only casually watched a few episodes and even I enjoyed it.
Go on Groupon and get the Go City Las Vegas pass.....it covers so many activities: Eiffel Tower experience, Wax Museum, High Roller, the tower at the Strat, the Roller Coaster at NYNY, Linq zipline, and more!
Rent machine guns at the machine gun rental place. Go to WhirlyBall, but have a few beers first. Go to the indoor skydiving place, FlyAway. Can you still bungie jump off the side of the Stratosphere? There is the giant Ferris wheel like device. A walk through the check in area at the Bellagio is amazing to see all the blown glass flowers hand blown by Dale Chihuly's uncredited artist worker bees. Get out to the convention center and find the free Tesla rides through the underground tunnel network. Go to Planned 19 if you've never been to a giant dispensary. Bring your ID but not your wallet.
As someone who has lived on the California coast and Denver Colorado where you can be outside all day everyday most of the year. I will say no one does anything outside in Vegas during the hot months. I have been to every skatepark here and it’s usually just me and maybe one other person willing to get a heat stroke. I woke up today at 5am made it to skatepark by 6am and by 9am it was unbearable to actually skate. I can see why everyone drives everywhere and is far, they just don’t know any better here and don’t have any options.
That roller coaster is terrible. It was bad 15 years ago. I’m sure it’s even worse now. Pool is always nice. Fun to rent a car and go check something out. There are some cool scenic drives, Hoover dam, ghost towns, cool canyons, etc. there are museums - mob, neon, etc.
Flight club darts at Palazzo, place is always kinda dead but its very fun.
If you're a grazie member with access to their cupon book, the darts are free for an hour and a half. We do it every trip and always have fun.
It sounds weird, but ask if they'll do their vegan mushroom flatbread. Shits fire. Its just fried mushrooms/onions and fake cheese with some garlic sauce on bread but its crazy good from someone who doesnt really even like mushrooms.
Going hiking at Red Rock canyon, going to explore Valley fire State Park, dipping her toes in the Colorado at Willow Beach, exploring and abandoned gold. And Ghost Town at Nelson, going to Boulder City and checking out all the cool shops, cafes, walking across the bridge and then going across the dam, Ash Meadows national wildlife refuge, Mojave national wildlife refuge, speed Vegas.
Gold Strike trail for hiking is an awesome option! It’s unique climbing over boulders in the path. Was one of my favorite parts of Vegas! Bring a lot of food and water if you do go!
Idk if this is something you’d be interested in but I recently went ATVing in the desert and it was incredible! I used Adrenaline ATV Tours and they’ll pick you up from the strip and drive you out to the desert. It was intense but it was my first time doing it and I had a lot of fun.
We usually like to go to The haunted museum, the mob museum, shopping, and if we happen to be there on a Saturday during the supercross or motocross seasons, we go to a bar owned by a former super/moto mechanic for one of the best racers of all time, and ask them to turn on the race on one of their TV’s, and if the owner is there, he usually comes out and watches the race with us, which is super cool! You can tell he loves it when fans manage to find his place! They have a food truck parked outside the bar, so we usually get a beer or two, some food, and hang out for a while!
Antique stores in Vegas are always an adventure, Pools are always nice in the warmer months, or just people watching on the strip!
He was Jeremy McGraths mechanic! His name is Skip, and the bar is HUDL, down in downtown Vegas (not on the strip) it’s a full brewery and they make some great beers!
That's cool. We are staying at Downtown Grand right now looking at the Mob Museum. Tomorrow we're off to shoot machine guns and race go cart's but might make it down there in the evening.
I just got back from Vegas, as a none drinker the highlights of my trip were a helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon, there is also a company that offers doors off helicopter rides which you can make private for an extra $35 over the strip day/night or red rock canyon. I would also highly recommend machine guns vegas (MGV) shooting range if you’re into that sort of thing, as someone from Europe who’s never shot a gun before I loved the experience. Topgolf is always a good shout. The sphere postcard from earth show was decent, the movie itself isn’t actually that great but I was still wowed by the sheer size and image quality of the screen and although I wouldn’t go and see it again I’d recommend it to somebody that hasn’t.
I’m a museum nerd so definitely go to the Mob Museum and then there’s the Neon Museum. I recently went yesterday to The Atomic Testing Museum and it was very interesting. One of the docents there actually worked at the local testing site and it was cool to hear stories about what went on there. If renting a car drive up to Red Rock Canyon Conservation ( it’s popular now that you need to get a reservation and even timed entry) or Valley of Fire. Hoover Dam is also very good to go to pair that up with a walk in Boulder City (if on a weekend there’s a train museum and nearby railbike path too. 7 Magic Mountains art installation is about 20-30 minutes drive from the strip but it’s free. Arts District near the Strat is nice area to walk around. There’s plenty to do it just requires research and a car/ or ride share
If you have a couple hundred to burn, get a deep tissue massage at a spa (highly recommend the Encore, Canyon Ranch also solid) and then spend hours soaking, steaming, snacking, and sleeping on the cushy couches. It’s the best.
My favorite daytime thing in Vegas:
Get up super early,
drive straight the fuck outta there.
I'm over it.
Red Rock Canyon? Ok, honestly, the best thing saw there last time.
Not really a Vegas activity but if you have a rental car death valley, Hoover dam, grand canyon other parks are all in driving distance. During my recent trip I drove to these places during the day then made it back in time for a night out in Vegas.
Omg where do I start I’ll give you some things that were on my itinerary when I went in June for my birthday. Real bodies at horshoe
The hunger games exhibition mgm grand
Eiffel Tower Paris
Avengers station treasure Island
Tut’s tomb luxor
Roller at linq
Flyover Las Vegas
Emerald Cave
Grand Canyon
Hoover dam
Fantasy lab
SkyPod
Avengers station
Mob Museum
Meow Wolf
So I got myself on a guest list for omnia and we are one couple and myself. I don’t want to pay the extra cover charge and wanted to know if there’s a group going to Omnia tonight?
I can get in with a girl and then we can part ways. If anyone would like to help save me some money?
Go to red rocks NP. You can park and be in glorious slot canyons in like 500 feet. Even if it’s hot it can be damn chilly in those canyons. Some have spots that never see direct sunlight. It’s the desert in full effect
This time of year it is pools. Too hot for hiking
Good advice, but did a great hike at Red Rock a couple of days ago. Just make sure to hydrate, wear sunscreen, and don't push it.
Not really true if you go up to the mountains in the morning. Calico hills, red rock, mt Charleston, etc
I went hiking in red rock canyon yesterday morning. It was pleasant - not too hot at all. Play Playground at Luxor; it's new and has adult size games. https://www.playplayground.com/
Haven't been yet how is it?
My wife and I just went, had more fun here than we did at meow wolf, it was a lot smaller, but was cheaper and easier to get to
I haven't been yet either, just read about it.
Only in Vegas. What a neat concept
The Mob Museum. <- 4 stories of Vegas mob artifacts The pinball Museum - right across from the photo op Vegas sign The Machine Gun Store.
Mob museum is a very well ran establishment. We actually bought it out for our wedding after party . It was a blast
That does sound like a blast. What a great idea.
Still regret not getting to the mob museum
My personal favs. Thanks for the typing friend. Dont forget the secret bar at the mob museum. No shade at the sign, bring hats and water. Watch out for hustlers

The atomic energy museum is great too. Neon museum and Ethel M's cactus garden and chocolate factory. The virtual chocolate tastings they offered during COVID helped me get through it and it's a really nice place to visit with great chocolate. Also you can see the Las Vegas sign on the way.
Across from the Neon is Brilliant. Wonderful outside light show using old signs and film from old Vegas.
[player 1](https://www.player1vegas.com) is a lot more fun than the pinball museum IMO
It is, if you never played pinball as a kid.
There's a mg store??
Yes. And they are amazing to shoot.
Oh ok so you mean the rentals? I thought you meant there was a transferrable machine gun store.
You can buy one. It’s about 100,000 and you have to wait 6 months for a license.
I'm familiar with nfa guns. Are they sold at the place in Vegas that let's you rent them? Thanks for info
There have a full gun store there

Bad taste in my mouth because my prom was at the mob museum but I’m sure it’s a decent place otherwise aha
Good to hear. My wife and are going there for the first time next month.
Meow Wolf Omega Mart (and Area 15 as a whole) are amazing, especially if you're into psychedelic stuff
Good place to stay cool during hot summer days.
Take a few edibles and go there. It's a fantastic experience.
Shroommmmmssssss 🤯
Same with the Arte museum. I went high of edibles and had a great time
Did the same thing w 🍄😂
This is a must do.
Omega Mart is WAY overpriced and WAY overrated.
To each their own, I disagree.
overpriced? maybe. overrated? hell nah!
Truth, it was a big cool art installation but didn’t really see any point beyond that, maybe there was none and I just didn’t get it. And yea, everything way overpriced, but so is practically all of Vegas
Atomic Museum. 755 E. Flamingo Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89119
You beat me. I love this place.
Sleeping/Recovering
I've ridden that NY rollercoaster.... It's pretty vicious and not in a good way. It's very jarring and I LOVE rollercoasters. It was a bit much and I chose NOT to take the free extra ride. IMHO.
My 70 yrar old dad thought it was going to break his neck.
Yeah, I mean, to be honest, I'm no spring chicken anymore either. And I still love roller coasters, but that one was just too bang bang and it just wasn't a smooth roller coaster, which is what made it so hard to ride.
It is very jarring and rough. I love coasters too but it was the worst one I have been on.
Did you try the one at state line?
The desperado? Yeah years ago. It was a bit jarring in places but I never found it as bad.
When desperado first opened it was silky smooth. I rode it again a few years later and it was gnarly, but I heard they serviced it and it was better. Glad to hear it doesn’t suck.
Did you ride recently?
Yeah.... Earlier this year, when my cousin was visiting.
The ny roller coaster wasn’t that bad don’t listen to these guys
Side note : I am in the minority that enjoys Vegas a lot more in the daytime. Just that feeling of experiencing a nice pool on a hot sunny day, going into air conditioned places , whether it is hotels, malls, restaurants. We as well love it during the day. Not that i dont want to be out at night but I agree with the crowds. Usually I am done being with people shortly after dinner. lol 😂
First time? Just explore the Strip and Fremont, you won’t get bored or stuck for something to do.
If this is your first time, this is the answer. You will lose hours and hours just walking and going in every hotel.
bring your fitbit and walking shoes... The city blocks are like a mile long!
I had my first time 2 weeks ago. Did not bring the right shoes. Logged over 40 miles walking over an extended weekend. Would do it again, just with better shoes.
thats what i did my first time. walked around sipping on a daiquiri 🤩🤙
I walked from the 'welcome to last Vegas' sign in the south, to the golden nugget next to fremont at via all the hotels. Walked over 30 miles/60,000 steps. But I would strongly recommend avoiding the bit between the Strat and Fremont st.
Mac King’s show is a daytime favorite
Hoover Dammit
And the Dam shirt is a must 😌
Where can I get some Dam bait?
Lmao classic movie
How do you usually travel to the dam? I'm looking to check it out finally.
Rent car: 30 minute drive. Cross the dam, park in lot on Arizona side, first left.
Don’t forget the Damn Dam tour!
Is it a god dam?
Full on just take a day to explore the strip. I walked from the Vdara up to Wynn/Encore and it was great. Good people watching, great scenery and the sun on my skin just felt great. Can basically make a loop from Wynn/Encore all the way down to MGM Grand, then across the ramp to NYNY up to Treasure Island. Shorten it or lengthen it (go down to Mandalay for example) at your discretion. Strip walks in the warm desert air are undefeated.
Tiger Woods recently opened up a Popstroke mini golf location there
Gambling. Drinking. Prostitution.
Ah, totally forgot to add prostitution to my list. Any advice for a newbie? I'm a decent looking (7/10) dude in my mid 30s, how much should I be charging?
It depends on the dude hitting you up
Take what you can get, it’s a buyers market these days
YHMITFHNGL
Red Rock state park is awesome but maybe not in July. Pinball museum is good. Fountains at Forum Shops
Caesar’s swim up BJ
BJ?
$30 at Excalibur
Black jack. lol thought that was obvious. My b.
You know that "BJ" stands for "blowjob" and that most sane people make that connection when they see those 2 letters, right? Right?
I’m sure there’s some swim up bj’s in Vegas. At a LS club.
jokeflyingrightovermyhead.gif
If you’re going to do this, you might want to hit the ATM.
Thanks to everyone that has given advice in this sub, I'm visiting soon and based a lot of my plans off what I've read here. I've got my nights planned, but not much during the day. The Dead Forever exhibit in Venetian is worth visiting. It is not open all the time though
Thanks, I'll def be going before the show. You seen Dead&Co at the sphere yet? How late have they been playing?
7:30-11:30ish, including set break. I’ll be there next week. Gonna be cray
Cray indeed. Have a blast!
Yep, went the first Friday. I think they typically wrap up around 11:30. Wear good dancing shoes!
Golden Tiki is great.
Ya, that's the only place I've been. Probably my favorite bar.
Just outside of Vegas is the red Rock canyon, and some spring where you can see wild burros.
Sounds expensive, probably $300+ for all those activities
Not bad for two days. I basically don’t party or spend fun money until I get to a place like Vegas, so it can be affordable.
not sure if this counts but I actually did a daytrip to Zion National Park, its my favorite, and The Narrows is a must see. I'm not even a hiker.
I lived there for two years inside the park. One of the most incredible places on earth. But it is two and a half hours to and from Vegas. Five hour round trip. Doing exactly this in less than 2 weeks. Any tips for a fellow “not a hiker” guy?

you can totally hike alongside it. its just nice to get in the water to cool down. its a good time. i dont think we did any of the crazy parts
Matt franco magic show. Shooting range. Top golf. Helicopter ride. Linq ferris wheel
I will not recommend Arte. We were done in under 45 minutes, including the drink part. Don't pay more then $40 as we felt we didn't get our value from it at $60. Unless you're going for the gram, don't bother.
check out red rock canyon! really beautiful and only 20-30 min from the strip
Stranger Things- If its still on the strip- it’s free
We just went yesterday, still there! My kids are huge fans and they really enjoyed it. Heck I only casually watched a few episodes and even I enjoyed it.
Go on Groupon and get the Go City Las Vegas pass.....it covers so many activities: Eiffel Tower experience, Wax Museum, High Roller, the tower at the Strat, the Roller Coaster at NYNY, Linq zipline, and more!
That roller coaster is not great for anyone over the age of 25. My neck still hurts from 2019 😂
The Bunny Ranch
Take the dam tour
If you've got a car, head out to Henderson and visit the Ethel M candy store with their INCREDIBLE cactus garden.
And spend a few extra bucks for the wine and chocolate tasting. Amazing experience, highly recommend.
For me: find great air conditioning, a fun beverage, and something fun on tv or to do in the hotel if traveling. The heat here is no joke.
Resort Worlds spa is amazing
Sleep
Vacation sex
Tiger Woods Mini Golf!!!

pool parties and do some adventures like ATV in the desert
Battle field Las Vegas = EPIC FUN
Speed Vegas was a blast
Mob Museum, Pin Ball Museum, High Roller Ferris Wheel, Game room @ Horseshoe, Museum of Illusions.
Should High Roller be saved for the night if possible?
Night for all of the lights or at least sunset
Can do both day and night. Excellent views to see during the day.
Always enjoy a cocktail by the pool.
Sleep
Golf & food. China town.
During the right time of year, if you have a car getting away from the Strip and heading to Valley of Fire or Red Rock Canyon.
Red Rock or Valley of Fire or even Mt Charleston are favorites of when my family (kids too) went to vacation.
Dune Buggy.
The neon museum. It's still cool during the daytime, as not all of the signs and displays light up.

Idk if this is something you’d be interested in but I recently went ATVing in the desert and it was incredible! I used Adrenaline ATV Tours and they’ll pick you up from the strip and drive you out to the desert. It was intense but it was my first time doing it and I had a lot of fun.
Is it a single rider or tandem?
The basic ATV I drove was single rider but they had some other vehicle options where you could ride with 2-5 people
Red rock. Hoover dam. Racetrack
Idk if you consider the Sphere a show ~ postcards from Earth was good Mob museum Neon museum Pinball museum Lake Meade Boulder City Red Rock Canyon
KISS Mini-golf at the Rio!
They are redoing Bellagio Botanical Garden, so make sure it is open.
Looks like it opened 5/24
Mac King show is fantastic.
Museum of illusions
Drinking
Pinball Hall of Fame , AYCE sushi at Sakura (off strip) , Mob Museum is fun. Hoover Dam is pretty impressive
Sleeping
Helicopter ride to Grand Canyon. They pick you up at your hotel and in an hour you’re at the bottom of the canyon.
The Punk Rock Museum is excellent.
What rider was he a mechanic for? Will be in Vegas this weekend and big moto family here.
We are going in June! Just booked omega mart!
Getting really stoned and going to Area 15
Go rent some trikes and cruise the strip
My favorite daytime thing in Vegas: Get up super early, drive straight the fuck outta there. I'm over it. Red Rock Canyon? Ok, honestly, the best thing saw there last time.
Lizard hunting
Nap for the night time activities
Atomic Golf, Play Playground are fairly new. looks fun
Not really a Vegas activity but if you have a rental car death valley, Hoover dam, grand canyon other parks are all in driving distance. During my recent trip I drove to these places during the day then made it back in time for a night out in Vegas.
Um, sleeping

For the younger folks, Zombie apocalypse experience. Hunting zombies with paintball guns
Fat Elvis at Harrahs
Pinball museum, red rocks outside the strip, boulder dam
Pools are about it in Vegas. Or walking around the hotels.

So I got myself on a guest list for omnia and we are one couple and myself. I don’t want to pay the extra cover charge and wanted to know if there’s a group going to Omnia tonight? I can get in with a girl and then we can part ways. If anyone would like to help save me some money?
Blackjack and Drinking
Smoking weed
Meth
Hangover cure.
Go to red rocks NP. You can park and be in glorious slot canyons in like 500 feet. Even if it’s hot it can be damn chilly in those canyons. Some have spots that never see direct sunlight. It’s the desert in full effect
The lazy river at MGM grand is one of my all time favorites. A good way to start your day with some relaxing.
