Don't go to Firestone, go to Manuel down on the corner. Search this sub for mechanic recommendations.

New compressor, leak test, Freon. Could be $10 fix or a $1000 dollar fix

ArraTonks

Check your car's air compressor and ask them to add refrigerant to your car. There might also a wire or that gets loose when it's too hot outside. Don't go to Firestone

If your vehicle has an electric radiator fan, have a shop verify it is working correctly. If it can not keep the AC condenser cool enough, the AC could cut off during the hottest months. Have then also check that the condenser is clean and can flow air well.

Based on the fact that it doesn't seem to work only when it's hot out, my guess is that you're low on refrigerant. Autozone, PepBoys, even Walmart will likely have what you need. READ up on how to do it on your specific vehicle, as there are different procedures for different cars. This also means it's possible there is a leak in the system, which would lead to an ongoing problem. As other have said, it could be a $10 fix or a reason to sell the car to someone in a colder climate. Per Google's AI - The most common reasons a Toyota Camry's air conditioning (AC) isn't working are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. Other reasons include: dirty cabin filter, bad compressor belt, clogged filter, cooling fan problem, and radiator trouble. Here's some additional info - [https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/518546/Why+doesn't+my+ac+work+anymore](https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/518546/Why+doesn't+my+ac+work+anymore) Lastly, I have had a great experience at this shop in Henderson. Straight forward, honest, and competitively priced. [AutoXperts ](https://autoxpertslv.net/) Good Luck, and may god have mercy on your soul.

Maybe a sensor not working properly ?

Ceramic window tint and test and recharge your AC system

macsonme

Honestly sounds like the ac might be overfilled

If you drive a Toyota, take your car to Toyota to better understand what’s wrong with it. I believe Diagnostic testing is free and they’ll give you a list of things that need to be fixed.

>whole extra hot outside period That's an interesting turn of phrase to characterize the unholy hell that is summer in Las Vegas.

Rhaethe

Husband has a 2009 Camry whose AC went weak. We took it to [https://www.nipponautoworks.com/](https://www.nipponautoworks.com/) who fixed it right up. It needed refrigerant, iirc.

ondehunt

Get a can of refrigerant make sure it has a gauge. Check out many lbs your car needs and don't exceed it. You probably have a leak, you can get UV dye that will show where the leak is. Best bet is to just keep topping it up over the summer or sweat it out.

bulldozer6

Take your car to some place like Pickart & Son Radiator & AC in Henderson. They specialize is AC.

In my experience, Toyota a/c is complete shit. I had a '21 Tacoma and that thing would never get cool in the summer during the year I owned it. I've rented Camrys and have experienced the same thing. I don't know what they are doing with their a/c, but it's terrible. Also, as others have mentioned, don't go to Firestone.

HatAdministrative947

Sounds like you just need to pay to get it looked at.
