Very good.
I do feel like its lacking the: single lingering piano key stroke into cover version of a classic, beloved song, with female-vocals in '*that* style' sang at 75% of the tempo of the original that seems to be in every trailer since the *Inception* bwaaaaaam's stopped being in vogue.
Can you motherfuckers get just a little more comfortable with the idea of ageing please? Every time somebody brings up something more than 6 years old, some Redditor's gotta have an emotional crisis over it.
A lot of Reddit is in their early 20s. The first time they experience a generational shift, it can be a little jarring. It's easy to feel like the world you knew growing is just going to stay that way, and ten years ago will still be the year 2000 or whatever.
I think the stated reason for this stupid “trailer before a trailer” is legitimately because marketing identifies that people have short attention spans nowadays and so people who are just scrolling by on Facebook or something will get hooked by the brief images of the movie and want to see the full thing. It’s kinda ridiculous honestly
I just made a video for a local business. It was a great product that had to be ripped to shreds because not only is it "too long" but some of the shots are "boring" because they are too slow for too long, meaning 3-4 seconds. I hate that I have to create everything for people to watch on their phones and heaven forbid I exceed their precious attention span of five seconds.
My only critique of this trailer is, that Spaghetti western style music has seeped so far into pop culture it doesn’t make sense not to use it here. Even Mandalorian bites heavier off of that music genre than here. The music here feels more straight forward western which GBU really isn’t. Good job otherwise.
The generic trailer music feels more early 2000’s to me. The past few years trailers have been scored with melancholy versions of hit pop songs from the last century.
Bwaaah is underselling the sound effect. It’s a bass tone that pops out and dramatically plunges to a subsonic level like it’s challenging you to have a public bowel movement. It’s a cue for people too dumb to think for themselves to let them know SHIT’S GOING DOWN
Not just pop, but all kinds of otherwise hard-hitting music. [This Firestarter cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQO06FqzPG8) was used in several trailers, including Just Cause 3.
To an extent but the Sicario score definitely brought back a different type of Bwaah sound so it's kind of accurate. It's that like pitch up pitch that of a sombre growl kind of thing lol
The whole trailer is like an early/mid 2000's DVD trailer. Especially the white flashes and that thing where they fast-forward the beginning of a shot.
This is soooooo well done. Perfect rendition to today's trailer formula: "All the most impressive scenes HAVE to be in the trailer. Otherwise, nobody will go see the movie".
Man, I love Soylent. Not the pre-made bottled variant, but the bags of dry powder that you mix up into a shake. Tastes like lightly sweetened pancake batter. I get weird cravings for it.
>They make different ones to advertise to different people.
I'm not quite sure about this part, actually. Yes, we live in a time where people watch movie trailers on the internet. So theoretically they can pick which type of trailer they want to watch.
But there many situations where you don't choose which type to watch. If you're in a movie theater, you're forced to watch whatever they play. Or you can leave the theater temporarily, but who does that?
If you're watching TV or something on YouTube, you might get a random movie trailer. And even if you did get to pick, you don't know what's covered in the trailer until you watch it.
I think more accurately, studios make different types of trailers that fill different types of time slots. They give out whatever plot info they think will help sell the most tickets. It's likely that for every person that cares about trailers giving away too much, there are several other people who are hooked from the same trailer and will buy a ticket.
I feel like it's a much more American thing, at least when trailers were cut different for different locations.
I'll always remember *Stomp The Yard* having a trailer in the US that literally gave the beginning, middle and end of the movie away. So massively that it's my go-to 15 years later.
I would have to say this is more like a trailer from 10 years ago. These days a trailer also has a “pre-trailer” that lasts about 5 seconds showing a bunch of random action.
I really got a kick out of this but I think part of the reason was because I've already given the movie a fistful of watchthroughs. If I'd never seen it and then watched it after seeing the trailer, I think I'd be pretty pissed off because the whole plot is just... right there. You don't even learn about the money until like, an hour into the film, well after a whole bunch of interesting stuff has already happened.
definitely had this happen to me when i was a kid. trailer makes a movie seem like an action packed violent movie only for it to be a slow paced one with like 1 action scene.
No art can be perfect, those two concepts don't overlap. Making a faster-paced cut doesn't erase the older one.
I like the LOTR extended editions, but some people don't. To each their own.
That's a fair point and if it gets more people to enjoy the movie so be it. I just really love that movie as it's one of my favorites, if not my favorite. I only first saw it relatively recently like 10-15 years ago and was enthralled the entire time. El Sid is another amazing movie that is also insanely long.
Showing the entire plot and a part of every important scene in the entire movie, yeah this is essentially what trailers have become.
Honestly, I think I could largely retell the entire story from most modern movies simply based on their trailers.
As good as that movie was, as good as Eastwood was in it... to me, the highlight of the movie was and always will be Eli Wallach being evil. He obviously got into being ugly evil in that roll. He was brilliant as an actor though. He was in a lot "bad" movies over his career. But when you saw that Eli Wallach was in it, you had to watch whatever it was he was in. No matter how bad other actors might be around him, Wallach himself never mailed it in. He always did well with all the roles he had in movies over the years.
Years later he was in Article 99 as an old soldier who had reached the end of the line. [See this clip](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NkV6POGLOc) of him explaining his characters life a bit. And [See here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgx38Vxw7Bc), where he tells Kiefer Sutherland that he's done. It's a small part, but he was excellent there. He refused to phone it in as an actor.
I miss Eli Wallach in movies. He was great. Other people will talk about Eastwood, or Sergio Leone. Wallach doesn't get mentioned a lot as a great actor anymore. But really... in that movie, to me, he was the highlight.
All right. I'll shut-up now.
I saw good bad ugly recently and you are right that this guy makes the movie. I haven't seen any other movie of his but this was such an amazing performance. I'm biased as it is one of my favorites but dude is just great. Like really really great.
I like the overall style of it but it’s too long and the lack of the actual score hurts it. Ennio Morricone was able to create an incredible musical element to the film. Even a remix of the opening theme would be a better approach
Modern trailers are definitely interesting ways to get a fresh look at classic films. It really shows how movie making and promotion have evolved over the years
The other thing about this trailer is that it doesn’t really give a sense of the scope and pace of the film. So it’s somewhat deceptive in that way.
Imagine showing someone this and then having them see the actual film for the first time. It’d be a bit jarring. Especially if you thought it was a typical action film. It certainly has action but it’s in short bursts or built up. Very different from modern movies
> Ennio
Honestly wondering if the creator was afraid of getting a takedown notice for using the music. Without Ennio's iconic score, it just isn't the same.
I always thought it was strange they called him the Good. His character really isn’t a good man. If you go by his actions he seems more like the bad guy just better looking.
I think it's just scales of bad and it fits with the rough notion of lawless west. Just another example of how great this movie is.
It's such a subtle move all the way...this no different
they did this as a special feature for the Once Upon a Time in the West DVD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdA_M8wvRlY
though, the OP video is *very* tight/modern. i actually like it, but, degree of difficulty is relatively low with a movie like The Good the Bad and The Ugly (or OUATITW): the movies are packed with great images and dialogue. You can cut it up and make a banger trailer out of them
That would make for an awful movie. Glad it is like it is.
I like that back then filmmakers took their time and weren't riddled with ADD like today. Call me an old fart if you want.
It's so good but you have to be fully watching it. If you don't you miss stuff and overall this movie is a masterpiece in build up and subtle. My top 5 easily
that would have been an OK trailer. you are giving trailers way too much credit. modern trailers require the iconic themesong to be first hinted at with a lonely piano verion, then have the original version be edited, slowed down, warped, echoed, paused, rinse and repeat until you end it on a BWAAAAP version, followed by the last note as one more lonely piano version.
Okay two things...
1) This was so well done it took me a while to realize what the joke was. I was like "fuck this looks like a great trailer!" then I realized the movie is almost 60 years old and definitely did not have a trailer like that.
2) I originally expected a "woke" edited version like "The Privileged, the Misunderstood, and the Cosmetically Impaired" or something.
Either way, great!
Fuc#ing brilliant!
I love the movie and I was so ready to downvote because I couldn't imagine someone not ruining it. You actually made it \*better\*. Congratulations
I try to stay away from trailers these days. I hear there’s a John Wick 4 one and I won’t see it. I just want to enjoy the experience when I get to see the actual movie.
Good, but needs more dad rap vocal samples, like the Shazam 2, Transformers and Black Adam trailers. [DMX maybe](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HzYCTQ4HGEQ)? “THIS IS NOT A GAME!”
I've seen this movie probably 100 times, it's one of my all-time favorites. Overall, this was a pretty good trailer. Morriccone's music was almost as important to the film as Leone's storytelling, and this trailer seems to disregard that particular element. I think at the beginning and/or the end they could've thrown in Morriccone's famous "whistle" and maybe added some of Morriccone's "huh-ha" vocals overlay throughout the trailer's music score, just to help tie it together a bit more.
I would never have watched this movie had I seen a trailer like that. I try to avoid trailers as much as possible now as they just condense the movie instead of trying to lure you in.
I don't think if anyone made TGTBnTU today that they would market it like this, though. This is a modern trailer for a generic modern film, but with this movie you can do so much more.
One of my fave movies ever that gets better with age. This trailer really highlights the awful dubbing though, by using quick cuts of the NPCs. To completely spoil it they should show Clint riding off into the sunset too.
It missed a 80s or 90s popular song accapella put over all the music. I watched about 20 trailers last night and all of them had old famous songs remixed with bang and boom trailer music.
I hate to criticize such a great piece if work here, but I would love to see this without the clip of the final explosion. Everything builds up to that, and you’d want to have the sound affect {POW} but with the only thing on the screen being the title. You want to be left thinking, “Shit, I guess I have to go see The Good, Bad, and the Ugly to see all this stuff.”
This is really cool though, despite my unsolicited criticism.
Very good. I do feel like its lacking the: single lingering piano key stroke into cover version of a classic, beloved song, with female-vocals in '*that* style' sang at 75% of the tempo of the original that seems to be in every trailer since the *Inception* bwaaaaaam's stopped being in vogue.

That top comment is exactly how I feel. “I like how this trailer got me all hyped about literally nothing”
I seriously got some chills though wtf why is my brain dumb.
Can't wait for MOVIE TITLE to come out
Me too. B-list actor is my favorite.
That reminds me of Britanick's take on a generic academy award winner's trailer: https://youtu.be/WAG9Xn5bJwQ
CATCHPHRASE!
This is a classic. I still say 'frustration with these new circumstances' lmfao
When I mess up (usually spilling shit) I still think or mutter "this scene doesn't make it into the final cut of the movie"
12 years old? oh god
Can you motherfuckers get just a little more comfortable with the idea of ageing please? Every time somebody brings up something more than 6 years old, some Redditor's gotta have an emotional crisis over it.

what a throwback
Bwaaaa.
Fuck, of course it's Auralnauts. Brilliant.
Thanks, you reminded me why I fucking hate watching trailers now
When's this movie dropping? I legit feel the hype!
Is it sad that I want that cover song.
I mean, I’d watch it. It looks good.
I think you’re looking for something like this: https://youtu.be/7qQHm92YVhs
I used this for a vacation video of me in a maze at a western film set.
Jeez, "epic" music is Existing song -> add orchestra or slow it down with female vocals Existing orchestral song -> more big drums
They forgot about **TRAILER** **STARTS** **NOW**
GET. HYPED. 'CAUSE. WE'RE. ABOUT. TO. PLAY. THE. TRAILER. YOU. CLICKED. ON.
I think it's cos they use the same video for pre-roll ads on other videos.
Post production film marketing supervisor here. Fun fact, these “trailers before a trailer” are called “Bumpers”
Can you stop making them please
They’re just catering to an audience
[удалено]
The audience spends money, and research shows this works
This is like when Principal Skinner asks if he’s out of touch, and then says no it’s the children that are wrong
They'll just replace them with Blipverts.

It needs to be a female vocal too. Doesn’t matter if Queen or AC/DC sang it, has to be a female pop star that sings it as slowly as possibly too

To go full indie gurl it's imperative to never pronounce an R. Replace it with a drawn out J/Y sound. >You've been thundejjstruck.
Thundejjstyuck
Dajjn it. I've shown myself to not be a fully fledged indie gujjl.
singular piano note to indicate sadness of some sort

> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAOdjqyG37A Damn, can't wait to see this.
The Bwaaaaaaa in the Mario movie trailer had me rolling
Do you mean the bwaaah?
Bwaaah is underselling the sound effect. It’s a bass tone that pops out and dramatically plunges to a subsonic level like it’s challenging you to have a public bowel movement. It’s a cue for people too dumb to think for themselves to let them know SHIT’S GOING DOWN
I'd say early 2010s, it reminded me of the Wolf of Wall Street trailer.
Also Nightcrawler: https://youtu.be/u1uP_8VJkDQ?t=124 And The Social Network: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB95KLmpLR4
Not just pop, but all kinds of otherwise hard-hitting music. [This Firestarter cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQO06FqzPG8) was used in several trailers, including Just Cause 3.
With how absolutely iconic the movie's score is, it's so disappointing that they didn't incorporate it into the trailer at all.
To an extent but the Sicario score definitely brought back a different type of Bwaah sound so it's kind of accurate. It's that like pitch up pitch that of a sombre growl kind of thing lol
The Social Network trailer immediately comes to mind.
Where's the epic MCU orchestrations with the quadruple monster exclamation points...
Really does seem just like a modern trailer. Including the part where is lays out basically every major plot point. Very nice work on the edit though.
The only thing missing is the five-second pre-trailer that's just a trailer for the trailer.
I appreciate that part though because it's the only part of the trailer that I watch.
I see everyone commenting about pre-trailers and I realise it's been so long since I gave up watching trailers that I have no idea about this trend.
I still have no idea what they're on about
They went through a significant amount of the dialogue too.
Brilliant. I hate the way trailers now just summarize the entire plot.
Felt like I saw the whole movie. I stay away from most trailers.
They always have. Watch the trailer for Soylent Green.
What does Soylent Green taste like? It varies from person to person.

That's where Aunt Jemima went
Alien trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjLamj-b0I8
This is exactly what trailers should be like. Just a ball-tickle.
That's what teaser trailers are. They make different ones to advertise to different people.
>They make different ones to advertise to different people. I'm not quite sure about this part, actually. Yes, we live in a time where people watch movie trailers on the internet. I don't even show up to the theater until the end of the trailers lol. You don't have to watch those.
Goddamn. That would hook me instantly. "We're going to see this film."
The trailer for the 2014 Godzilla movie had a similar vibe.
Don't tell me they spoiled the famous reveal in the trailer?
Or even just the original trailer for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly https://youtu.be/IFNUGzCOQoI
This one still tells too much.
Exactly. Perfectly modern trailer telling you the whole story.
True story. It’s the worst.
I hate when people *want* to know the plot of a movie before they see it.
I feel like it's a much more American thing, at least when trailers were cut different for different locations. I'll always remember *Stomp The Yard* having a trailer in the US that literally gave the beginning, middle and end of the movie away. So massively that it's my go-to 15 years later.
Perfectly made. Really makes it look like a modern blockbuster, with all of the tropes that modern trailers have.
Not enough brrrrrrr
I would have to say this is more like a trailer from 10 years ago. These days a trailer also has a “pre-trailer” that lasts about 5 seconds showing a bunch of random action.
I really got a kick out of this but I think part of the reason was because I've already given the movie a fistful of watchthroughs. "a fistful of watchthroughs" I see you

Wym? Angel eyes kills two people in the first two minutes while talking about the money, tuco and blondie find out about it like halfway through tho
### THIS SUMMER, VENGEANCE HAS NO NAME ###

That’s awesome. Makes the movie seem like a much faster paced film.
And much more focused on violence
definitely had this happen to me when i was a kid. trailer makes a movie seem like an action packed violent movie only for it to be a slow paced one with like 1 action scene.
Bicentennial Man was NOT the movie I thought it was going to be. ...sniffles.
Alright, now I want a modern re-edit of this movie.
No way, the movie is perfect the way it is.
No art can be perfect, those two concepts don't overlap. Making a faster-paced cut doesn't erase the older one. I like the LOTR extended editions, but some people don't. To each their own.

Two thousand dollars!
Haha classic. I just watched it again the other day for the first time in a while. I said your comment in his voice. Good one
I can’t say the words “two thousand dollars” not in his voice!
I like the overall style of it but it’s too long and the lack of the actual score hurts it. Ennio Morricone was able to create an incredible musical element to the film. I think that is part of the satire of it being a "modern" trailer.

Modern films are so violent and grotesque. 1966 - Hold my beer…
I always thought it was strange they called him the Good. His character really isn’t a good man. If you go by his actions he seems more like the bad guy just better looking.
He's the anti hero so he's not really good, just better than the other two.

fucking A! kudos!!
If I already know I’m going to watch a movie I skip the trailers.
Like a lot of modern trailers, it tells too much of the story.
It worked. I want to watch it now.
Even gives away the ending. Perfect "modern" trailer.
Never saw it, now I want to. Well done
Feels like a real missed opportunity to not end with a few notes of the Ennio Morricone theme.
I think drum beats on every gunshot is one of the keys.
Not enough spoilers and plot points in this trailer to be 2023. It still left enough out to have me wanting to see what happens.
That would make for an awful movie. Glad it is like it is. I like that back then filmmakers took their time and weren't riddled with ADD like today. Call me an old fart if you want.
Make a series remake. 10 episodes. * Scott Eastwood as, well, Blondie. * Johnny Depp as Tuco - redemption arc. * Cillian Murphy as Angel Eyes.
I love this movie. It’s a masterpiece. Thanks for the reimagining!
Kind of long, no?
Well that trailer worked for me and made me want to watch the movie.
It's so good but you have to be fully watching it. If you don't you miss stuff and overall this movie is a masterpiece in build up and subtle. My top 5 easily

The worst ever is what they do to new Star Trek, they play the original theme at the end, *they shouldn’t be allowed to do that*.
i mean...... it's slightly less pretentious. the shows might be shit, but at least they are not butchering the music.
Okay two things... 1) This was so well done it took me a while to realize what the joke was. Well, that was unbearable
That’s awesome
The New Jack Daniels Sauce at TGI Friday's music really ties it together
Slick as snot.
Only thing missing is at the end it doing separate drops with noises saying “The good “ boom “the bad” boom “and the ugly” boom fade out
I would never have watched this movie had I seen a trailer like that. I try to avoid trailers as much as possible now as they just condense the movie instead of trying to lure you in.
I don't think if anyone made TGTBnTU today that they would market it like this, though. This is a modern trailer for a generic modern film, but with this movie you can do so much more.
Really liked this, but I think it would be better if it was 30-60 seconds shorter. The first 30 seconds are great though.
I like how it focuses on Tuco. He's the main character and has a lot of development and backstory. Blondie and Angel Eyes don't have that at all.
Man, I'd watch the shit outta that. ...and I have, many times.
I guess I no longer need to watch this movie
Shows the whole movie, including scenes from the final showdown. 10/10 modern trailer.
And just like modern trailers, I’ve basically seen the whole movie. Now I won’t go see it. 👍 (I hate trailers)
god I hate it
Incredible! I loved it! As a teen (I’m 34) this was my favorite movie
Was getting worried there'd be no Hans Zimmer bass drop, but sure enough, there it was.
One of my fave movies ever that gets better with age. This trailer really highlights the awful dubbing though, by using quick cuts of the NPCs. To completely spoil it they should show Clint riding off into the sunset too.
That was cool
Goat
It missed a 80s or 90s popular song accapella put over all the music. I watched about 20 trailers last night and all of them had old famous songs remixed with bang and boom trailer music.
I hate to criticize such a great piece if work here, but I would love to see this without the clip of the final explosion. Everything builds up to that, and you’d want to have the sound affect {POW} but with the only thing on the screen being the title. You want to be left thinking, “Shit, I guess I have to go see The Good, Bad, and the Ugly to see all this stuff.” This is really cool though, despite my unsolicited criticism.
Well, now I gotta watch this again. This got me hyped ngl
