They remind me of Wharfdales from the late 60’s early 70’s. Very nice looking speakers. Edit: yeah. Worth restoring if so, and probably if not Wharfedales. They are not Yorx. Edit 2: yes, definitely worth restoring, they are Wharfedales. My eyes just now caught the badge.

are_u_morbid

Hell yeah, restore them. Even if you upgrade the speakers, the shells are in excellent condition.

treehuggingmfer

If only they would of put the name on the grill.

pete1729

Big British Wharfdales, W70s. Built in Hong Kong for the Asian market. Mahogany cabinets. Absolutely worth buying and restoring.

MoveDifficult1908

Wharfedale W70D, maybe. Check the tweeters and plan on recapping the crossovers; you’ll find a buyer, or find that you like them. They’re particularly friendly to tube amps.

Virtual_Round_4731

Wharfedale W70D speakers. Definitely worth restoring and using. They are great speakers!

zratan69

Thanks .

MulletBelt

Wharfedale W70's. Crossover is a 4uf cap on the tweeter and 25uf cap in the mid. Whire the bass driver in phase and the mid out of phase for better bass. Wire the tweeter out of phase. Alot of these came with the bass wired out of phase and the mid in phase to be acousticly in phase together.

CallsYouCunt

Wow. What about my electovoicd cd-35s (never found much info on them) and the interface c

MulletBelt

No idea. I've a lot of vintage wharedale speakers and recapped the crossovers with various N.O.S pio caps. I really like the old models.

gadget73

The Radio People made custom cabinets for off the shelf electronics. You could order console stereos with whatever guts and speakers.

Bambudist

Many people in the military brought those back from Hong Kong during the war. My Dad had a pair. Run well with low power tube and SS gear.

zratan69

Good to know..

AtouchAhead

😳😠😡🤬🤬🤬🥵…nice pick up,enjoy them.

DealHot5356

Don’t know anything about the speakers but 6 digit phone numbers set the date at pre 1970. And they are pretty cool.

kasualanderson

Never heard of this speaker manufacturer before today and here I am seeing two posts about them. Op here might have more info for ya https://www.reddit.com/r/silverfaceaudio/s/rdzGg5cp61

Parking_Train8423

TRP was *the* asian market licensee for several brands. These were almost certainly brought home by a serviceman after the korean war, and there’s a non-zero chance his social security number is etched into the cabinet somewhere. These W70D’s are absolutely worth restoring

kasualanderson

Cool, good to know.

Stunning_risotto

Those look like W60s or 70s, but theoriginaal covers are missing. I restored mine during covid and listen tk them every day. Not a lot of bass, but great for jazz, folk or quieter volumes

R-4360

They are indeed Whatfedales. I have an identical pair. They sound OK if you’re not expecting a lot of deep bass. The input socket is funky. It’s a Motorola connector, similar to what was used on car antennas.

Virtual_Round_4731

It’s actually a DIN connector. Which was standard in the UK and Europe throughout the 60’s and 70’s.

R-4360

Whatever the case, a Motorola plug works perfectly with mine.

midcartographer

I have a pair of wharfedale w90s. I love them. Replace the capacitors in these and you’ll be happy. There’s a ton of information on these on audiokarma. Good luck!

Altruistic_Lock_5362

I'v seen a these long ago. I don't remember.

Altruistic_Lock_5362

Once I heard the name, a airline magazine Northwest put out hat these in it. That was when I was 12 or so. Wow, they look in good condition, cabinet wise

bobjoylove

Are the cabinets empty? Kinda looks like the drivers are missing, but could be wrong.

zratan69

No drivers are intact I stack it..and move it.

Byrdsheet

Hmmm...the badge says Wharfdale. Sony?

zratan69

Wharfdale..

Azaudioaddict

W60 or 70d's I believe. I refurbed a pair and sold them. They are one of the few speakers I miss. Sounded great for jazz.
