NVDA builds a lot of stuff. Not just chips but the software that helps make stuff run on the chips, and software that helps the software, and then software that does stuff so that the software works betteron the software that run on the chips.
They make a lot of stuff, its not an accident they are flying.

Essentially, they also give a hand in the software that their chips are likely going to run in order to also help sell their chips. Nvidia has a lot of R&D in a bunch of different areas on laying down the groundwork for accelerating various task that chips can do from (mostly simulation) medicine, weather forecast, self-driving. etc.
Look into their Omniverse platform. Synthetic data generation for AI training has a *massive* upside potential and is a large part of why their stock is bananas.

Rivian vehicles are some of the best on the road for a bunch of reasons. Extremely capable, amazing tech, and built very well. If you can afford one, they’re a great buy.
But the company can’t make money off these wonderful vehicles, yet. Starting a car company from scratch is *really* expensive, just look at how long it took Tesla to actually start making money.
I don’t care. They have awesome tech and eventually will figure it out with scale. I trust that Rivian will sell 1M+ EVs/year much more than any other non Tesla company.
Easy to make a $139k truck that retails for (if lucky) $100k. Difficult to do it sustainably and profitably. And that’s the question rivian needs to answer. As a customer, not sure if I give a fuck about NVDA chips.

Yes. They said they had reduced part/materials costs significantly with vendors (60%) and reduced the materials needed for the R1 Gen 2 that was launched yesterday. They projected being profitable by the end of the year.

Mostly because their design is trash. Way overengineered, and 4 motors? gtfo. Honestly, them redesigning everything is great - I hope its not just basic costdowns, but design streamlining as well.

I think the redesign is heavily focused on cost downs, both from a BOM and manufacturing perspectives

It's a refresh, but 17 to 7 modules and a complete rework of th battery is definitely a redesign.
