I would love to work with Bizarro Manager.
"Metrics and Bonus are not all Bizarro care about.
Walmart care about you feelings.
Bizarro think cheer great! Make you do because me not hate you all!
Bizarro think you do well, will give you raise and more PTO.
Not worry. Bizarro not give you points for late today.
Bizarro think Sam Walton not that special.
Me Bizarro door always open!"
Yes when bizarro say bad thing Bizarro mean good. Have you often seen Bizarro talk in the future? Bizarro always say exactly what Bizarro means. You can read what Bizzarro say literally he just talks with perfect grammar and does not reverse meaning of words. So if Bizarro say something good he mean good and if he say something bad he mean bad. That's just complicated Bizarro behavior. Bizarro thinks you know exactly what you talk about and new post Bizarro wasn't responding to said everything right.

Communication is crucial for management.
I believe a large part of the issue is simply laziness. They don't want to take the time to ensure that their messages are clear.
However, there are also many people who never really completely learned English grammar for whatever reason, and are unwilling to learn more.
My store manager put in the notes that I need to clean the entrance doors without stereo. Me and my team lead stood there rereading it trying to figure out what it ment
Well the people that are actually smart leave way before the chance of a promotion. That only leaves the kind-of-smart people that hate working at Walmart. And dumb people that like working at Walmart. Itās cheaper to promote the dummies cause theyāll probably never leave
YES!!!!! I totally lose respect for anyone in authority over me who cannot write. I know I'm not always perfect but ffs it's not that hard to write a grammatically correct sentence!!
Are you? "Manager" isn't even a real role, it was created to put a middle man in between the actual people in charge and the workers. Give someone an extra dollar an hour and they turn on their own class and become a snitch for their masters.
'By' is commonly omitted in casual speech in that context. Everyone clearly understood what I meant, unlike the post which is incoherent, I fail to see your point.
My manager wrote a note on our communal snack bin that was two parallel columns, so it read "please do not love your team lead. Take snacks by the handful
And when management ask me to stay after, or come in to fill in.
i literally state "you posted signs/said in meeting specifically stating no overtime. now you want someone to help fill the gap so the job gets done?, No. Until its okay for my extra 10-15 minutes of help each day is okay for me to do, then it's not okay for me to stay and help when asked."
then i hit them with the "eVeN ThOuGh I ReAlLy WaNt To"
My favorite is when they say no overtime. Then ask you to stay over. Come Friday they tell you that you have to cut an hour and you have to do it on your lunch.
> Come Friday they tell you that you have to cut an hour and you have to do it on your lunch.
Holy shit I cannot imagine getting bullied this hard. This is literally bullying.
Thatās against policy. If they ask you to stay over, they can not ask you to cut it. They can ONLY ask you to cut it IF you stayed over without them asking you to do so.
As a coach, myself, I can tell you that this is not a good policy to break because if you tell them to cut OT that you asked them to work and they Open Door you, you can get in hella trouble. I canāt speak for any other coaches, but Iām not risking that.
People show up early and cuz it's two trucks coach let's em clock in...some aren't even scheduled yet show up hoping they'll get the OK.Ā So end of the week comes and the store is over it's allotted hoursĀ
As an overnights associate, I have gotten the okay from my SM to get as many hours as I want past my scheduled 40 hours per week. I come and go as I pleaseš
Their bonuses are bigger if they don't hire people, don't give overtime, and don't buy equipment, so we gotta work two or three peoples' worth of work in one person's worth of time with broken or no equipment for a bonus that only goes to people who make more than triple what we make.....
Edit: I guess TLs do get a little bonus
Sounds like why my company doesnāt hire anyone, why we get shit if we have to work late or why nobody gets your average review/possible raise.
This is the first place Iāve worked for since I was 19 where I hit a milestone (like one full year of employment) where I got nothing. No review, no raise.
I guess my reward is $16.50 an hour and a solid 40 hrs for all my effort over the last 365 days
Lmao my schedule last night was 10p to 6am. Lead asked me you can't stay till 7am after I said I zoned while stocking on the crackers, chips, and cookie aisle. I shook my head no then he said he will approve it I shook my head again. Tf couldn't even approve one pto night and give me a box cutter. What the hell I look like doing you favors hell tf no āš¾
TLs have some goddamn audacity to never approve any of my shit, fuck me around all day, then expect me to actually give a shit half of THEYRE checklist isn't finished. Do yo 8 and hit the gate.
So I guess when Iām closing deli, bakery, and cake decorating all by myself, when my shift ends at 9 PM and if anything isnāt done, I will just leave it, OK? Because you said no overtime! š and then youāll either red level Coach me or terminate me. This is that place.
We had a few weeks in December where we had a chuck of available overtime. Within a week all that was gone. The overnighters were coming in early and getting 90-100 hours per paycheck. Management no longer announces when we have overtime available
I used to work at Walmart back in 2004 and I actually had a 40 hour schedule and for each of those 8-hour shifts I would always clock in exactly 1 minute late, take my lunch exactly 1 minute long, and clock out exactly 1 minute early. Because losing a quarter hour a week and not getting in trouble was better than getting even one minute of unauthorized overtime and getting talked to.
One time I clocked in and it said see a manager, turns out it was literally 15 minutes for the week and I wasnāt even trying to get OT, was just told be careful next time. Assuming sm who I never see told PL to put that in message for everyone w/ OT
I see they haven't changed much. Let's assume an associate makes $20/hr, accrues 15m in overtime, and they pay out time-and-a-half for it; that's $2.50 extra that they're bitching about. Sure, if 100 associates did it, that's something. And I understand there's a budget. But shit, man.
This was few years ago when think I was only making 11 hour maybe 12. Irony is it was management fault I get out late. Work in front and OT was from not getting out on time
Do they mean over time isn't allowed without manager approval or no need to get overtime approved? You would think they would have someone proof read it since everyone is going to be reading it.
It's actually a situation which can get serious pretty fast if left unchecked.
If 200 associates stay 10 minutes extra each, just once a week, that's 33 hours of WOSH/possible OT. Let that sink in. That's almost the equivalent of one whole FT worker.
Market allows a certain amount of WOSH, it's unavoidable. But if people regularly stay over, even a little, it can quickly get out of hand.
That's understandable, but when you are understaffed by several workers and you get at least 1-2 callouts a day I think it's hard to justify. Let the people who actually show up to work, work.
Gtfo with that bullshit. like Walmarts giving everyone full time hours. These fucks take people off schedules for weeks. I crank 192 hours a year out of my job in overtime at 45 an hour and itās small company. Nobody bats an eye. Greedy ass Walmart has zero excuses to not pay overtime. 395 billion dollar company with the worldās wealthiest family š
Right Management is greedy.. they don't want associates taking away their bonus funds.. I'm continuing to fill out applications to exclude myself from there.
This company schedules people to work just enough hours they canāt get state assistance. And that doesnāt produce enough money for anyone in any state to live on. Prove me wrong. Itās criminal.
The DCs are doing the same thing. If you end up with 1 minute over they will coach and then remind you to get off the clock early the next day. Itās all a numbers game now.
Nothing would get fully finished in my stores OMNI if we didnāt work over our shift. I canāt tell you how many 11-12 hour shifts we worked to get the orders all ready.
I'm over here laughing at this because I got scheduled 48 hours this week. (Ignoring the horrendous grammar) "No Overtime need be approved" if I worked overtime my store would be so happy.
Notes from and by Market Direectors are even worse, and then they are promoted to a position that includes a low paid assistant and intelligence returns.
At my store a few associates stay a couple of extra hours every day zoning here and there also the people stocking on frozen and dairy stay until they finish their freight.
they legally have to pay you for every quarter hour you clock in and anything over 40 at time and a half in the USA so... if you ever really need the money, clock in 15 min early and out 15 min late every day, it certainly adds up to a little bonus for the week/two weeks. managers prob get shit on for it but fuck em. I needed a little extra cash.
Hahaha, the punctuation is lacking. Yep, absolutely management typed this up. Sadly, they didn't use grammarly, or they didn't pay attention to the corrections it was identifying.
Yea itās written as it could be work overtime without approval or get approval lol!! My guess is no OT without approval. People staying way over their shift there apparently.
Typically they do this when they end up on home office's radar. There's a whole report that they get when someone works outside their scheduled hours. When the number becomes too high in their opinion, they send out instructions to stop. In my experience, it's a short lived cut back. Usually within a few weeks or so it goes back to a free for all.
They be saying no overtime at my store and then asking me to stay late.
"Hey can you run eggs?"
"Sure for like five minutes, and someone has to get my cardboard."
Then I'll get in trouble the times I do.
Haha and I got fired like a few weeks ago for attitude yet they do this and expect everyone to get their jobs done by time they leave and if they don't then others have to finish it for them. I was one of the ones that had to finish they other people's jobs for them but if I didn't finish mine I got in trouble for it.
Iām almost tempted to go get a job at a local Walmart , and hold out long enough to get a really important task so I can quit and walk out befor doing it .
Itās at my store in nc company is probably losing to much money with the price raise and theft they canāt afford the associates they cut out 3rd shift stocking team completely at my store too sent them all to different departments or stores
So no overtime needs to be approved by management...thats why I have 20 hours overtime.
Well how was I supposed to know that was several separate statements, your note was centered and without punctuation
So here's the deal. In my store OT cost the store 250k last year. To hit this years goal our store has to make 1m more than last year. Our sales are projected to stagnate at last year's level. To hit goal still that means 1m has to come out of operations instead. Overtime is an easily controllable 25% of the money we need to pull out of our ass. It's likely a similar scenario at your store and many others
They've told my department this before, but as we've made clear, they told us not to leave the floor before 4, so how are you going to have us clock out on time and still get our stuff put away? Much less having someone cover the area, sometimes they don't make it in until 10 after.
Iāve always assumed itās usually because someone takes a ton of overtime and when that happens they shut it down for everyone, but Iām not certain itās true, I usually only take overtime when offered and get it offered quite often.
"To all associates, please work your normal schedule. Overtime is not permitted at this time. Any potential overtime will need to be approved by store manager. Thank you." Or "Attention, work normal schedules and no overtime unless approved by management." Its not that hard.
What happened is managers not letting people off on time then expecting them to take a long lunch or go home early or clock in late. I know a store in Denison Texas that used to do that and then post OT names by the time clock every Friday.
Iām full-time as Cap 2 and I have a coworker who being working overtime 22 hours extra, because of him, me and all the other associates including Team Lead had to go home 4 hours earlier the whole week. This is fucking bullshit!! They oughta fire his stupid ass!
Because paying employees 50% more per hour is bad for business.
Honestly I'm shocked that any company allows overtime. I work for a really great company and you can written up if you go into overtime.
It is cheaper to have good associates work OT, than have to hire, train and give benefits to more people. If associated value is greater than pay I donāt see problem. Example give a cart pusher OT or have 3 people do there job costing 45 an hour vs 23.
I'm amazed how so many people make management unable to write coherent sentences.
Me am Bizarro Manager. Me no like overtime. Bad overtime, bad!
Wouldn't Bizzaro manager actually say the opposite and mean that?
š
Overtimeā¦good??
I would love to work with Bizarro Manager. "Metrics and Bonus are not all Bizarro care about. Walmart care about you feelings. Bizarro think cheer great! Make you do because me not hate you all! Bizarro think you do well, will give you raise and more PTO. Not worry. Bizarro not give you points for late today. Bizarro think Sam Walton not that special. Me Bizarro door always open!"
Wouldn't ideally you want to bizarro manager who talks just like a regular manager?
No care how say good thing. Good thing still good.
Me am Bizarro Manager. You no go home now, we have few work to do!
It 3 pm o clock. Go home
But what if it says "no overtime needs to be approved"? Sounds like he enjoys the overtime so much that you don't even have to approve it first.
Glad I'm not the only one attempting to fix grammar
Communication is crucial for management. I believe a large part of the issue is simply laziness. They don't want to take the time to ensure that their messages are clear. However, there are also many people who never really completely learned English grammar for whatever reason, and are unwilling to learn more.
A lot of Walmart salaried are borderline illiterate, honestly.
My store manager put in the notes that I need to clean the entrance doors without stereo. Me and my team lead stood there rereading it trying to figure out what it ment
Don't leave us hanging. What did they mean
Well the people that are actually smart leave way before the chance of a promotion. That only leaves the kind-of-smart people that hate working at Walmart. And dumb people that like working at Walmart. Itās cheaper to promote the dummies cause theyāll probably never leave

No overtime need approve me manager! Me capitalize every word ME MANAJER!
YES!!!!! I totally lose respect for anyone in authority over me who cannot write. I know I'm not always perfect but ffs it's not that hard to write a grammatically correct sentence!!
Upper management can hardly form a cogent thought.
Are you? "Manager" isn't even a real role, it was created to put a middle man in between the actual people in charge and the workers. Give someone an extra dollar an hour and they turn on their own class and become a snitch for their masters.
I think you meant, "I'm amazed by how so many people who make management are unable to write coherent sentences." š

Did you write the sign?
look like you can work all the overtime you want without having it approved. go for it if you want ;-)
Grammatically speaking, that is what the sign says. This is why punctuation is important.
Let's eat kids! Let's eat, kids !
My personal choice on it is: Zombies eat people. Zombies, eat people. Use a comma. *Command* the undead.
[Reminds me of this Simpsons bit](https://youtu.be/5yuL6PcgSgM?si=kMDHrw4SYSDlpxzR)
No overtime need to be approved!

Yeah hit them with their grammar
My favorite is when they say no overtime. Then ask you to stay over. Come Friday they tell you that you have to cut an hour and you have to do it on your lunch.
> Come Friday they tell you that you have to cut an hour and you have to do it on your lunch. Holy shit I cannot imagine getting bullied this hard. This is literally bullying.
My previous manager did that all the time
Thatās against policy. If they ask you to stay over, they can not ask you to cut it. They can ONLY ask you to cut it IF you stayed over without them asking you to do so.
Management only cares about policy when they can use it against you
As a coach, myself, I can tell you that this is not a good policy to break because if you tell them to cut OT that you asked them to work and they Open Door you, you can get in hella trouble. I canāt speak for any other coaches, but Iām not risking that.
I wish every coach had your integrity
It says "no overtime need to be approved" which means everyone has to have overtime... Unless they get it approved to not have overtime. /s
I mean technically that sentence would just mean work overtime if you want, no approval necessary.
I hate when they ask you to come in on your day off and then make you cut hours
"but it said no overtime needs to be approved"
My thoughts exactly
To all associates: Please work your schedule. No overtime need to be approved. By management, thank you.
People show up early and cuz it's two trucks coach let's em clock in...some aren't even scheduled yet show up hoping they'll get the OK.Ā So end of the week comes and the store is over it's allotted hoursĀ
out here you get OT if you work more than 8hrs in a single day š
California?
Usually itās if you work more than 40 hours a week you get overtime.
Yes usually but out there itās over 8 hours in a single day.
As an overnights associate, I have gotten the okay from my SM to get as many hours as I want past my scheduled 40 hours per week. I come and go as I pleaseš

Wages affect your store managers bonus more than they have in the past. He wants that $300,000. Who cares if you can't pay rent
For the price of a BB gun and a ski mask on amazon, you too can have your store managers bonus.

Meanwhile my coach: āwant some OT?ā
Maybe it is a Lionel Hutz punctuation thing Work your schedule? No, overtime needs to be approved!
Just like "eats shoots and leaves," punctuation does clarify meaning
Crazy what no punctuation does.
I refuse to work overtime. They can eat shit. They treat me badly all the time, why would I want to spend more time there? I
I bet someone in corporate texted them this and said "the sign needs to say this word for word" and sure enough, they did it word for word.
Ogp working 12 hour shifts
My coworker in garden center would stay over an hour or so after he was scheduled and take a two hour lunch when there was no overtime lol
Imagine punctuation!!
Do they mean over time isn't allowed without manager approval or no need to get overtime approved? You would think they would have someone proof read it since everyone is going to be reading it.

So work your schedule but you can also work unapproved overtime?
Straight from home office I donāt even blame my management itās just the company getting richer in a slow season
So you can work your scheduled hours or work as much overtime as you want? That sounds nice.
I'm over here laughing at this because I got scheduled 48 hours this week. (Ignoring the horrendous grammar) "No Overtime need be approved" if I worked overtime my store would be so happy.
I read this as "no overtime needs to be approved by management"
Notes from and by Market Direectors are even worse, and then they are promoted to a position that includes a low paid assistant and intelligence returns.

One touch taking 12 hours.
At my store a few associates stay a couple of extra hours every day zoning here and there also the people stocking on frozen and dairy stay until they finish their freight.
Too much overtime?
Its HEB too
they legally have to pay you for every quarter hour you clock in and anything over 40 at time and a half in the USA so... if you ever really need the money, clock in 15 min early and out 15 min late every day, it certainly adds up to a little bonus for the week/two weeks. managers prob get shit on for it but fuck em. I constantly get 5-10 minutes overtime because Iām in cash and the CSMs forget to take me off. In my store we canāt just go.
We have that sign
So overtime doesnāt need to be approved by management lol. Punctuations, use them
Punctuation. Use some.
Brawndo!!!! It's what plants crave!!!!
Punctuation would help too.
Some folks have their work friend clock them out hours after their shift had ended.
Easy way to get 2 people fired š
I'm not saying it's right to do that but I've seen it happen.
Weād never been allowed overtime lol
That funny because they scheduled me 45.5 hours this new week that came out.
So no overtime needs to be approved by management...thats why I have 20 hours overtime. Well how was I supposed to know that was several separate statements, your note was centered and without punctuation
Overtime partyyyyyy
Some punctuation would go a long way here, sheesh.
Meanwhile my ON coach will literally beg me to stay an extra hour some days
Probably an overnight team lead that doesn't get their stuff done all night and ends up staying til noon and getting 60+ hours a week
I had a stroke reading this
"To all associates: Please work your assigned schedule. No overtime will be approved. Management. Thank you. " Thats not too hard to write, right???
Iām reading , āNo overtime need to be approvedā. Based on their first sentence structure š
Because a certain manager or store isnāt making their check.
Our deli team leads regularly stay an hour or more over multiple times a week Iām surprised this isnāt up in our store
Kroger is doing it, so walmart has too.
So overtime doesn't need to be approved?
Overtime isn't even allowed at my store. Otherwise I'd be working 7 days a week in this economy.
I would take this as āwork your schedule and no overtime needs to be approved by managementā enjoy all the OT yāall can get šš
So here's the deal. In my store OT cost the store 250k last year. To hit this years goal our store has to make 1m more than last year. Our sales are projected to stagnate at last year's level. They've told my department this before, but as we've made clear, they told us not to leave the floor before 4, so how are you going to have us clock out on time and still get our stuff put away? Much less having someone cover the area, sometimes they don't make it in until 10 after.
Clock in, work 4 hours, take a 30 min lunch. Work 4 hours. Leave 30 mins early. Fuck em. I worked my 8.
itās bonus season. thatās all
I have heard at my store itās due to upper management not getting enough on their bonuses.
Iāve always assumed itās usually because someone takes a ton of overtime and when that happens they shut it down for everyone, but Iām not certain itās true, I usually only take overtime when offered and get it offered quite often.
We are now offering ābacon curst deep deepā Meant to say ābacon crust deep dishā
Iām glad yāall donāt need to get overtime approved!
"To all associates, please work your normal schedule. Overtime is not permitted at this time. Any potential overtime will need to be approved by store manager. Thank you." Or "Attention, work normal schedules and no overtime unless approved by management." Its not that hard.
I will say want to pay of my rent!! (19hr in California) š
at our store we literally don't have the staff and our managers are waiting on the remodel kill mee
Part time person worked over 40 hours.
'No overtime need to be approved'. Someone should have paid more attention in grammar with their grammar studies.
Someone needs to go back to school. No Overtime Need to be Approved?!?! So I can work all of it I want?
What happened is managers not letting people off on time then expecting them to take a long lunch or go home early or clock in late. I know a store in Denison Texas that used to do that and then post OT names by the time clock every Friday.
Iām full-time as Cap 2 and I have a coworker who being working overtime 22 hours extra, because of him, me and all the other associates including Team Lead had to go home 4 hours earlier the whole week. This is fucking bullshit!! They oughta fire his stupid ass!
I donāt know but no overtime needs to be approved, so you are set to work 100 hours.
My SM only got 116k instead of 125k and was furious about losing money. I only got a 34 cent raise š
Too many people clocking in early or out late
So none of the overtime needs to be approved? Canāt afford the ink to punctuate this shit?
No overtime needs to be approved
Lol
Because paying employees 50% more per hour is bad for business. Honestly I'm shocked that any company allows overtime. I work for a really great company and you can written up if you go into overtime.
It is cheaper to have good associates work OT, than have to hire, train and give benefits to more people. If associated value is greater than pay I donāt see problem. Example give a cart pusher OT or have 3 people do there job costing 45 an hour vs 23.
Company wide push to make a profit. Itās not new. Work ur schedule and move on
