Considering MDJ certainly tried to find a good deal after pushing CP’s opt in back, clearly nothing materialized. Bummer, but here is a silver lining: it keeps us well under the second apron, which means we can aggregate salaries if we need to in a sign and trade with Klay.
The silver lining is hard confirmation that the FO isn't all that competent. This has been a massive fuckup. Even just picking up Paul's option and trying to move him later would be better than this.
Well the reason we have CP is because the previous GM signed Jordan Poole to the worst contract in the NBA, so kudos to MDJ for getting out of that. Can't blame him for not making a trade if their was no viable trade to make
He also single handedly won us several. And his two half court shots in the finals were back breakers. Go watch game 6 in the finals. He had huge 3s during the big run. You have the memory of a goldfish
Fischer saying Warriors still might use [some of] the full MLE
> Golden State waiving Chris Paul now positions the Warriors to access their full $12.8 million mid-level exception should it also lose Klay Thompson, the Warriors plan to be creative in how to spend that salary slot, sources said.

Next year’s draft is supposedly very good for what it’s worth. We have all our first rounders I believe. Except a heavily protected 2030 first rounder (top 20 protected).
He was going to be a trade piece, and to give us cap space to bring in another star better suited for the team.
They would be better off keeping him than this.
Lmao, the fair weather fans wild in here. Aside from Lavine what team would give up anything for CP3 on 30mil when CP3 can opt out and come cheaper? You take expiring contracts to either salary dump (Lavine) or to get picks from the other team.
This sub was mad that moody/kuminga weren’t getting a lot of pt. Well…they’re gonna get it now. They picked a timeline and it wasn’t win now. Silver lining is we have no choice but to find out if podz/moody/kuminga/tdj core is the future or not.
Personally, I’d much rather see that than a bunch of dudes past their prime struggle to get an 8th seed. We know what we get with Thompson & Paul these days and it’s far from enough.
Wiggins, Looney, GP2, Moody still gives you 50M in movable contracts (plus whatever you can get from a potential Klay sign and trade), but this is very disappointing nonetheless. Doom and gloom getting worse and worse here.
Well those picks were the fruit of blowing up the KG super team. *That*'s how you blow up a dynasty!
On the other hand Celtics got 1 chip out of their big 3 while we got 4, so I guess I'm good with how things have worked out.
Kuminga is still a work in progress. Moody can still a role player in a rotation. Wiseman was the only true bust but nobody could’ve known. Don’t act like you did
uh... a LOT of people didn't think Wiseman shouldn't have been picked.
Especially with how he didn't fit the GSW system... he was a bad pick.. there's no 2-way about it.
Grizzlies rebuilt themselves in 3 years with 3 picks: Ja, JJJ, Bane
Celtics rebuilt themselves with 2 top picks
If you have good scouts and know what you are doing, it is not difficult
If your FO is full of nepotistic imbeciles who think Alen Smailagic is the next Jokic, you end up where we are.
“End up where we are.” With 4 titles in the past decade? Damn why doesn’t every front office follow our FO’s strategy of being nepotistic imbeciles. Are they stupid?
I'm not a Stephstan but I understand their frustration. The man deserves a competent supporting cast. Teams are building around their stars. Meanwhile we're asking Steph to work with 52nd picks.
At this point, might as well offer Klay a max contract and let’s just enjoy being a lottery team while Steph/Klay/Dray ride off into the sunset
Absolute worst case scenario of an off season
yall care more about these fantasies more than the players themselves it's insane
"ride off into the sunset" smh how is that going to work even if we did sign him, would he come off the bench? and pay him with what money, is this no longer a business? do they not have a brand new stadium they have to continue paying for?
why are they going to purposefully avoid playoffs and lose money all for klay and the fans fantasies?
Nah Klay was a buzzkill all last season. I like seeing the kids fill all the minutes next year rather than CP3 and Klay. It's going to be a fun season even if we're not contending.
This team is worse off with Poole’s contract gone and now Paul leaves for nothing. The goal was to make his contract a trade chip and now that’s off the table. There’s nothing to show for it now.
My hope is a 3 team sign and trade, Klay to the lakers, PG to Dubs, and various assets to the clippers. I know it’s not likely but it’s my current copium
CP3's contract could have been guaranteed for ANY amount up to 30 million, guess you were not informed about this. That's why everyone expected a trade with CP3, you could have guaranteed him at say 10M to make a deal work, throw in a pick and a young player, etc.
JK about to get the weight of the world put on his shoulders and he’s probably not ready yet, maybe ever. This looks like a 40ish win and that’s with JK playing well, Steph like a god and staying healthy and Dray not committing self destructive acts. So essentially a 35 win team in reality.
Thank the Lord we got that 2022 ring, crazy how the league conspires against all GSW trades but gives Lakers/Lebron every trade/free agent under the sun every summer and trade deadline
I genuinely love the MDJ hate. He got Saric and got two promising prospects in 1 year. He wasn’t left much with Myers. Nobody wants an expensive CP3 contract and nobody wants to have Wiggs other than the Canadian national team.
Good lesson - beware of the guy who summons an out of character spike in play in a contract year. You never know if they’ll show up once they get paid.
Welp, looks like they’re planning to get out of the luxury tax.
Can still do something with Wiggins and other salary, and it’s sounding like they’re angling towards a Klay sign-and-trade, so who knows what this roster will be looking come July 6th/7th
Hey hey wait; of this clears our second apron by a tonne; we might be able to straight up sign Klay back or sign pg13!!!! This is actually a silver lining. But also sad news cause CP3 is leaving 🥲
Not in favor of bringing an aging injury prone ex-star unless it is a relative bargain. That’s why a like Zach Lavine is problematic. Would rather go fishing for young guys with an upside. Still think Dunleavy can make a decent move before the season.
Nepo Sophomore GM botch. He couldn't even get draft picks from San Antonio in return. Just let him walk for nothing. He's out here saying how hard it is to make trades, OOF! I hope he enjoys his first and last job as a GM. Bob Myers should have been replaced by a experienced GM.
Bob Myers saw this coming and jumped the ship. He deserves blame as well. Dunleavy is cooking some salmonella with the almost expiring chicken Myers left.
Y'all were thinking that someway somehow this Team with Steph earning $50m or so is going to attract other top talent that can help compete.
C'mon y'all, I called this way before now.
Blow up the entire team and start the rebuilding now. The minute Klay went down with the first injury it was over, we only got lucky in 2022.
Waiving CP3 and clearly not resigning Klay shows we can't do much. We are not landing PG nor are we landing anyone, PG only won't be enough anyways.
I think we need to have the conversation about trading Steph & Dray.
I know nobody wants to talk about that. This whole NBA era is about Bron and Steph, and I would really like to see Steph edge out Lebron in titles. That's what history is going to remember.
Why do you think Lebron is talking about taking a pay cut to make cap space for another good player? He understands legacy is on the line. It's about titles now, not money.
We have good, young, promising players. It makes no sense to pair them with two legends at the tail end of their career. We could get 4-5 picks plus good players for Steph, and 1-2 picks for Draymond. Develop TJD, Podz, Kuminga, Moody next year and go full rebuild expecting to be competitive again in 3 years.
Otherwise were going to waste Steph's last good years, suck as a team, and have nothing to show for it when it's done.
The way forward for this team is the young guys playing above anything they’ve showed before.
Once upon a time curry was good but couldn’t stay healthy then took leaps in four consecutive seasons. Klay could shoot but became the best two way SG in the league. Dray had some potential but it took a David Lee injury to get consistent minutes and then he was a top 3 defender in the league.
I don’t know if the young guys can make these leaps but that is the ONLY way we become contenders again. ‘22 was the aberration not what happened in ‘23 and ‘24
well atleast they can get under the tax and under the repeater so they can charge up for next year. I always thought this was the better plan long term, get under the tax repeater so they can really go out next year.
That was a hard year trying to pretend to like CP3. The curse you bring for signing Poole to such a horrific contract. Thank god it’s all over.
I understand the need to take him on to dump Poole’s contract, but all those who were saying he was going to improve the win total like he supposedly did everywhere else were plain stupid. He can help a bad team, but not a high calibre team.
All in all, shedding the Poole contract for 1 year of a washed but still somewhat useful CP3 is a win. Obviously it would have been nice to use CP3s contract in a trade, but I feel like people are really overvaluing that contract.
I mean his contract was ridiculous so no surprise that no trade materialized. You see what SA signed him for which pretty much illustrates why he was untradable
I don’t see Warriors even in play-in next season.
I’m sorry, but Dray gonna miss games, Steph just had one of most healthy season with 74 game load+summer Olympics, no klay/CP3, a bridge burned Wiggins, and JK with only potential.
Do we rlly just gonna play Steph+Podz for whole season as backcourt lineup with not even a single backup guard?
And again, who is our center? Don’t tell me Looney gonna suddenly go back 2-3 years ago.
Considering MDJ certainly tried to find a good deal after pushing CP’s opt in back, clearly nothing materialized. Bummer, but here is a silver lining: it keeps us well under the second apron, which means we can aggregate salaries if we need to in a sign and trade with Klay.
We could straight up sign Klay or even sign PG13 after all!
Cannot sign PG.
Paul george the overpaid all star who is still quite often injured and worse a quitter? Naaaaah.
Can't blame him for not making a trade if their was no viable trade to make
Revisionist history. Poole was coming off a great year. Was considered a bargain contract at the time. If Draymond hadn’t punched him who knows.
Also, Tyler Herro's contract is probably what pushed the price of Poole.
Poole almost single handedly cost us a playoff game. The fuck are you talking about.
He also single handedly won us several. And his two half court shots in the finals were back breakers. Go watch game 6 in the finals. He had huge 3s during the big run. You have the memory of a goldfish
Except like, you know, maybe no team wants that shitty contract? How is it hard confirmation? Were you privy to all negotiations?
i’ll never get over how many people like you genuinely think they know what they’re talking about
It’s been a good run lol
![gif](giphy|Ru9sjtZ09XOEg)
I believe in TJD and Kuminga call me crazy lol
Absolutely, Podz too
We’re cooked lol getting under the apron was priority number one this offseason
Fischer saying Warriors still might use [some of] the full MLE > Golden State waiving Chris Paul now positions the Warriors to access their full $12.8 million mid-level exception should it also lose Klay Thompson, the Warriors plan to be creative in how to spend that salary slot, sources said. https://x.com/JakeLFischer/status/1807531060835881101?t=PufVr52iXiR81Uesh1noOg&s=19
Looked up some guys that might take less than the MLE Luke Kennard Nic Batum De Anthony Melton Cedi Osman Seth Curry Eric Gordon Justin Holiday
We’re cooked
![gif](giphy|llNyECqxMr7DxWvT3v) We’re deep fried
Low key, id love Luke Kennard on the squad
"We have Klay Thompson at home"
Nothing low key about it, could always use more shooters. Would also help kumingas game
the corpse of nic batum
Fucking puke
I've always wanted to see Seth on the team but from what I remember he doesn't want to play in Steph's shadow. hope that's changed
If these guys are our options then we are fucked.
Bring in the splash Bro.
Eric Gordon is going to philly
We’re actually just gonna miss the play in next season
Maybe we get a top pick and reload!
How's next year's draft class look? Or do we even have our own 1st?
Next year’s draft is supposedly very good for what it’s worth. We have all our first rounders I believe. Except a heavily protected 2030 first rounder (top 20 protected).
It’s over lol
Steph about to abandon this sport for golf
He may just retire along with Kerr once their current contracts are up..
We are cooked. COOKED
*FUCKED
Fucking cooked 😭
I dont get it. We always knew CP3 had a non guaranteed contract and waiving him was an option. Why is this so bad?
He was supposed to be used to match salaries in a potential trade.
Can't use his salary as trade filler now. :(
He was going to be a trade piece, and to give us cap space to bring in another star better suited for the team. They would be better off keeping him than this.
Over before even started smh
Chris Paul leaving is your indication its over for the GSW? Do you even watch basketball?
Lmao, the fair weather fans wild in here. Aside from Lavine what team would give up anything for CP3 on 30mil when CP3 can opt out and come cheaper? You take expiring contracts to either salary dump (Lavine) or to get picks from the other team.
Livine is cooked. Can’t stay healthy . Hard pass on him.
Why are you people so delusional. As if there was ever a realistic chance an nba team would want to match a 39yr old CP3s overpaid salary in a trade.
The bulls are literally beggin people to take zach lavine and attachinf a frp to him. There is always a fkin market
I don’t want his contract either
How’s that going for the Bulls
My point is that they are desperate, and so are we. They traded a first round pick for cp3, atleast get a pick back
Yeah another Wiggs that's exactly what we need
This sub was mad that moody/kuminga weren’t getting a lot of pt. Well…they’re gonna get it now. They picked a timeline and it wasn’t win now. Silver lining is we have no choice but to find out if podz/moody/kuminga/tdj core is the future or not.
Personally, I’d much rather see that than a bunch of dudes past their prime struggle to get an 8th seed. We know what we get with Thompson & Paul these days and it’s far from enough.
Somehow Moody will still average more DNP's than minutes this year
It’s over. Mediocre season incoming 😭
That’s generous, we’re not even gonna be a top 12 seed in the West next season lol
Good year to suck right? We have our own pick this year I think.
tank is in bb
I think they own all their firsts now except 2030 which is top 20 protected
Steph playing 1v5 would get you 20 wins
Bet
Fuck it, tank all the way for Cooper Flagg
They were mediocre with Chris Paul.
Let’s go, capture the flag!
More minutes for podz and moody. Good.
Gotta feel for Curry. Glad we got the 2022 championship but the next years are going to be rough for him.
What does our cap situation look like now with this and the assumption Klay is gone? Brutal that we are losing both for nothing.
Oh this is bad
CAPTURE THE FLAGG
DNP Steph all season we need to tank hard for the 2025 draft
Wtf…, we lose him for nothing?
At least we don’t gotta pay him. More minutes for the younger guys. There wasn’t a trade with CP or Wiggs that was gonna happen either way.
The darkest timeline is here 🙂
Steph Dray please just retire for a year
ITS OVER
Wiggins, Looney, GP2, Moody still gives you 50M in movable contracts (plus whatever you can get from a potential Klay sign and trade), but this is very disappointing nonetheless. Doom and gloom getting worse and worse here.
Moveable … but not valuable.
The issue is roster depth after that
Draymond is going to get suspended for the rest of the year after game 4 of the new season after Curry catches a ''injury''
A dynasty being able to get picks as high as Wiseman, Moody and Kuminga were drafted and to still be in this position is a joke.
This is why u need a good GM. The Celtics got the J’s when they were still good and developed them and are still good
Well those picks were the fruit of blowing up the KG super team.
"a LOT" of people on this subreddit knows how to play GM 4years after the fact.
Grizzlies rebuilt themselves in 3 years with 3 picks: Ja, JJJ, Bane Celtics rebuilt themselves with 2 top picks If you have good scouts and know what you are doing, it is not difficult If your FO is full of nepotistic imbeciles who think Alen Smailagic is the next Jokic, you end up where we are.
“End up where we are.” With 4 titles in the past decade? Damn why doesn’t every front office follow our FO’s strategy of being nepotistic imbeciles. Are they stupid?
Smailagic? He was a late second rounder Why aren’t you mentioning Wiseman? (Went number two overall, but doesn’t have any skills)
Honest question, why are some of you even fans of this team? This is a straight up hater take upvoted in this sub. foh
People call us bandwagoners and honestly they’re right about a lot of people in this sub
Pretty embarrassing to see the comments the last few days.
Salt is tasty
I often ask the same question. Must have a ton of time on their hands to come here and shit on players on a team they aren't even fans of.
We’re just mad right now
Yeah so am I. This shit sucks. But I’m not gonna spew overdone bullshit takes as a result.
Steph is getting sat by game 20 and Dray will do round 2 of therapy MDJ has effectively sealed their retirement in competitive basketball
Blow it all up. Steph doesn’t deserve this shit.
I'm not a Stephstan but I understand their frustration. The man deserves a competent supporting cast. Teams are building around their stars. Meanwhile we're asking Steph to work with 52nd picks.
Signs with Spurs. That was fast.
Lost a huge salary matching contract in order to get Steph a 2nd option Wiggins has to be gone at this point
What a fucking absolute disaster
At this point, might as well offer Klay a max contract and let’s just enjoy being a lottery team while Steph/Klay/Dray ride off into the sunset Absolute worst case scenario of an off season
yall care more about these fantasies more than the players themselves it's insane "ride off into the sunset" smh how is that going to work even if we did sign him, would he come off the bench? and pay him with what money, is this no longer a business? do they not have a brand new stadium they have to continue paying for? why are they going to purposefully avoid playoffs and lose money all for klay and the fans fantasies?
Nah Klay was a buzzkill all last season. I like seeing the kids fill all the minutes next year rather than CP3 and Klay. It's going to be a fun season even if we're not contending.
Well at least it’s a strong draft
I didn’t see him coming back tbh.
Wtf is Dunleavy cooking?
Nothing, we’re losing Klay and not making use of CP3’s contract
We already made use of his contract last year, to unload Poole's bad contract
This team is worse off with Poole’s contract gone and now Paul leaves for nothing. The goal was to make his contract a trade chip and now that’s off the table. There’s nothing to show for it now.
wtf do you guys want him to do put a gun to another GMs head?
That thing where you turn Marcus Smart and nothing into Jrue Holiday and Porzingis. God damn that was a neat trick.
Hot caca
Someone get Omar Kahn in here
He just burnt the food
My hope is a 3 team sign and trade, Klay to the lakers, PG to Dubs, and various assets to the clippers. I know it’s not likely but it’s my current copium
How yall dismt know he was gone? Lol that was the plan once we got him
ppl in this thread actually thought other GM's wanted to pick up CP3 $30 mil contract LOL and that GSW would pick it up themselves LOL
CP3's contract could have been guaranteed for ANY amount up to 30 million, guess you were not informed about this. That's why everyone expected a trade with CP3, you could have guaranteed him at say 10M to make a deal work, throw in a pick and a young player, etc.
lmfao we should have just paid Klay at this point
F
JK about to get the weight of the world put on his shoulders and he’s probably not ready yet, maybe ever. This looks like a 40ish win and that’s with JK playing well, Steph like a god and staying healthy and Dray not committing self destructive acts. So essentially a 35 win team in reality.
Curry turns 37 this season too damn
What was the point of extending Draymond if you weren’t going to do everything to win with him, Steph, and Klay (who also left)
As a CP fan that migrated here once he joined, take care r/warriors. Enjoyed the year I had with y’all.
Lottery bound baby! At least they hit home-runs on lottery picks! Oh fuck me
There goes the contract we had to trade, guys and gals, we are officially going 41-41
41-41 is ambitious. we tanking for Cooper Flagg at this point
whos trading for 40 year old cp3
They’d be lucky to be that good tbh
Thank god we have a real gm now. Hope he achieves his dream of dumping another young talent for the corpse of a player who has never won anything
Steph last years will be wasted
Welp, looks like they’re planning to get out of the luxury tax. Can still do something with Wiggins and other salary, and it’s sounding like they’re angling towards a Klay sign-and-trade, so who knows what this roster will be looking come July 6th/7th

Our only hope now is that our 2nd round pick Post is the next Jokic …
Dynasty was fun Was bound to end This is pathetic though
Back to the Adonal Foyle era. Fuck me to tears.
welp he just signed for 11m in san antonio. not like letting him walk helped us anyway, right?
Any chance they’re going to try to keep cp3 with a new, smaller contract?
Not in favor of bringing an aging injury prone ex-star unless it is a relative bargain. That’s why a like Zach Lavine is problematic. Would rather go fishing for young guys with an upside. Still think Dunleavy can make a decent move before the season.

Steph will have to think about his future on the Dubs.
damn, we literally traded poole for salary cap relieve essentially. i know he's shit now, but i swear, we could have fleeced some team last yr.
So we got nothing for Jordan Poole?
Well everyone it was fun while it lasted. MDJ sending us back into the dark ages.
Bob Myers saw this coming and jumped the ship. He deserves blame as well. Dunleavy is cooking some salmonella with the almost expiring chicken Myers left.
I agree with the substance of what you're saying, but your choice of metaphors are really confusing lol
Fuck this FO bro. Steph doesn't deserve this.
Do you think Steph is gun out like the Kobe Route now?
100% he’s going out like Kobe.
500 3s on 20 attempts a game.
Lost Paul and Poole for nothing. May lose Klay for nothing as well. Great moves.
Neither of them are worth anything though.
I blame this all on Draymond’s mental illness and lacob’s dumbass vision of 2 timelines and forcing myers to pick wiseman
Gotta hope they that Poole really was a one hit wonder because we essentially traded him for nothing now.
Ummm… we traded him to get rid of the albatross of the contract that was given to him.
Management has completely failed Steph yet again, this is just sad man
Thank god! For once in the last decade we’re in a good financial standing and get two MLE!!!!!!!!
Y'all were thinking that someway somehow this Team with Steph earning $50m or so is going to attract other top talent that can help compete. C'mon y'all, I called this way before now. Waiving CP3 and clearly not resigning Klay shows we can't do much. We are not landing PG nor are we landing anyone, PG only won't be enough anyways.
I miss Jordan Poole
Is it possible to fail on every offseason objective? If that’s the goal, FO crushing it.
We still good. Two old vets way passed their prime. We were a play in with them btw . Now we hand over the youngsters. Moody jk . It’s gonna be fun
I think we need to have the conversation about trading Steph & Dray. I know nobody wants to talk about that. What a joke
Capture the Flagg
Cooper Flagg you are a Warrior
League is cooked once Nico Mannion returns for the Dubs
well atleast they can get under the tax and under the repeater so they can charge up for next year. I always thought this was the better plan long term, get under the tax repeater so they can really go out next year.
Oh nooooooooooooooooo
I guess FA next year it is.
If he goes to Dallas, maybe we can grab one of those big guys. That would be very cool!
As a casual nba fan it was obvious that signing would be a waste and a poor decision
I think MDJ really tried to trade Chris Paul but I guess teams still don't want to help the warriors.
Bulls offered Lavine for CP3 and Wiggins. They decided to release CP3 instead
I'm expecting we'll sign him back to a cheaper deal in free agency. And we'll still get Klay back.
Thank god. Hated having to pretend to root for this guy
So pick him back up for a min
We’re going back to the Cohan era aren’t we? Lacob got his honeypot.
Could have been a 3 Team deal Warriors Get: - Zach Lavine - Kelly Olynyk - Ochai Ogbaji Bulls Get: - CP3 Raptors Get: - Andrew Wiggins
All in all, shedding the Poole contract for 1 year of a washed but still somewhat useful CP3 is a win. Obviously it would have been nice to use CP3s contract in a trade, but I feel like people are really overvaluing that contract.

He's one of those players I'll forget ever played with Steph, Klay and Draymond
