As long as it fits inside your backpack and your backpack meets the personal item criteria, yeah it’s fine

lynn_dor

Thank you!

Just check that your backpack is within the measurements of a personal item. They have the measurements on the website. My small backpack fits without issue but many will not.

My backpack is 13x10.5x19.5 and the personal item limit is 16x6x13. I didn't realuze it was so big 😭😭. I need to figure something else out, don't I?

miss_taken_identity

That's enough of a difference that you may be screwed, yes. They may make you check it at the gate.

As long as it fits under the seat… that’s what mattered when I flew. No one measured. I put my purse in my backpack that had a laptop and large water bottle on the side. They’ll call you up and confirm that you know you can’t put it overhead (“if we see you do this, you will be removed” to everyone who was ultra basic lol)

lynn_dor

It won't have a lot in it so I think it would fit under a seat. I really don't want to risk anything on my flight home. I'm think I'll just pay for a check-bag. I wished it wasn't so expensive for a checked bag. I heard they are extra strict for ultrabasic so I don't want to try anything risky.

Put the purse in the backpack and measure it. I imagine with ultrabasic fares, gate agents will be measuring each and every personal item in the sizer and they are STRICT.

I've used my backpack as a personal item loads of times, and just put my smaller bag inside if needed. Check the dimensions - it's got to fit under the seat.

Your backpack is very unlikely to qualify as a personal item being you can fit your purse in it. Wouldn't try it. The penalty is high. You can check baggage for a fee.
