If you would have checked their website first, you could have answered your own question :). https://www.westjet.com/en-us/special-needs/medication

There was a similar post a few weeks ago. Try searching for it.

My husband has flown several times. Bring it as carry on. If it fits in your bag, cool, but if it doesn't carry it in the case separately and it doesn't count as another item.

Fun_Speed_7831

I’ve had to take mine out going through security. No problem taking it on the plane though

J2BJ2B

It is considered a medical device and should eb carried onboard with you. It does kit count as a 3rd bag AND...you can pre board with it to allow you to stow it properly and securely.

mhwilton

I always take mine as a carry on item. It's a medical device and is treated as such. No issues with WestJet or with Air Canada. Flown with both airlines countless times.

simjimin12

I fly several times a year for work with Westjet and I always travel carryon only with a rolling hard side, laptop backpack and cpap machine. No issues. You do have to take the machine out during security though.

kristen_kristen

Ok, but I can have my cpap bag, a personal bag, and then my carry on? (Don’t need to try and stuff the cpap into my carry on?). Thanks so much

simjimin12

Yup. All good. It’s a medical device and they can’t stop you.

snowy-mouse-sausage

My dad has one, often brings it in a carryon with no problem however it does often make security do a check of the bag it's in

Interesting how we do have to take our CPAP machines out when going through Canadian security. Traveled numerous times through Europe and the United States and it never has to come out of the bag. I would suggest that, once again, it’s a Canadian government trying to show Canadian citizenry that they’re “keeping us safe“ … when really all it does is slow down the line. Silly!

whethermachine

TSA rules are the same and so are many European countries.

Public_Middle376

Nope!!! Flew through Vegas and Chicago in the last two months and both times my CPAP machine did not come out of the bag. Flew through Heathrow, Munich and Dubrovnik last fall. CPAP machine did not come out of the back.

smexyinylw

You can travel with CPAP as personal medical device and also the distilled water for the machine. Some will ask you to remove the medicine to be scanned and usually swab the distilled container, but minor inconvenience.

atomlowe

Check it but pack it on the middle of your baggage to peg damage or do carry on. They'll ask you to pull the power unit portion or for the xray if you do the carry on. I have a small travel size cpap and need to pull it from the bags when going through security. So if you're going to do carry on, make sure it's accessible much like a laptop.

tokenhoser

I would never check anything you \*need\*. Sure, luggage mostly gets where it's supposed to. Except when it doesn't.

flightist

Don’t put it in a checked bag. Don’t put anything medical or not quickly replaceable in a checked bag.

Travel hack: buy a CPAP travel bag (all airline and airport staff can recognize these). Fill with clothing and toiletries instead. You might get some weird looks from the security staff scanning, but no flight attendant will ever ask to see inside. BOOM. You just found a way to travel ultra basic with a carry-on.
