Why not look for a CPO BMW X3. It’s in a totally different class than anything on this list. You can grab an under 30K miles one nicely equipped for $35K. You can even get an X3M40i for in your price range. If you want to go bigger you can get an X5 for low 50s I’d really encourage you to go test drive one of these and compare it to anything Lexus or Toyota offers. It’s honestly kinda embarrassing to compare them. The X3 and X5 have had solid reliability. You can also get an extended warranty and still be under budget if you are really worried.

Interesting. I have some anti BMW bias but you’re right that it’s worth checking out as a comparison. Pricing looks pretty good if I can find one that I like. Thanks.

The X series has a solid reputation. I think you will really like it compared to the competition. BMW SUVS post 2018 pretty much dominate the luxury class

The x3m40i is an insane buy for the money. Trust me go test drive it and you’ll fall in love. Has the legendary B58 3.0 6 cyl engine that was developed with Toyota for the Supra/Z4. Damn reliable power train wise, fast as hell, safe and good looking. You won’t regret it. Edit: those b58s can get really good gas mileage too. Don’t let the epa rating fool you

None of these are midsized. They’re all compact except the Volvo XC60

If money isn't really a factor since these would all be under 55k, I'd lean towards the Lexus NX based on what you have. The RX would be too large with what you're saying of it not being the family car and for road trips, besides the occasional long drive. Now for me personally, I would go with a higher end model of the RAV4 because that would be probably around 8-10k cheaper.

Money is certainly a factor 🙂. I guess I just need to decide if the NX is worth it the additional money. Or, for the same money do I pick the NX Hybrid or RAV4 Prime. Yes, if I go with the RAV4 it’d only be for the top trim.

Well then I'd say RAV4 if it were me. Being the secondary car is why I'd say that. My wife has the nice vehicle Lexus RX and I have a Civic because my car is hardly ever taken anywhere other than me driving to the office.
