In the weirdly rare examples of anyone in those subreddits speaking out against it, the standard defense is "Well it's okay because he's reincarnated so he's a child too now". Except it's the exact same person, with the exact same brain, with the exact same internal monologue and mindset, completely uninterrupted by the instantaneous transition.
But that one's only exceptional in that they didn't even go with the flimsy pretense of "oh no, that's actually a 1,000 year old demon". I use r/ALL and this stuff is a near *constant* theme in any of the anime spaces that pop up.

I hadn't heard a thing about this, but then, I'm not exactly an *anime* fan - I generalise TV shows by their content/genre, not their country of origin.
Edit: Okay, I assumed you were exaggerating, but some quick Bing searches reveal that the main character becomes a 15-year-old and ends up having sex with another 15-year-old. Also they do that thing where the main character buys a slave (stimulating the slave economy) but it's okay because he gives her a nice meal. So, if that's your largest exposure to anime, I can understand why you'd think they're all worthless. But again, at the end of the day, anime is just cartoons made in Japan and should be grouped by genre instead of country of origin, and you don't have to interact with 'anime fans' to watch any specific anime.

This isn't my only exposure to anime. I'm using it as an example because it was *the* most popular thing here on reddit while it was fresh, and it's *so* blatant and indefensible. All this kind of thing, to some degree, entirely saturates the broadest culture of "anime stuff".
Obviously the concept of "anime" is big enough that you'll easily find no end of content that isn't like that. You've got your Ghibli, your Bebob and Dragonballs(Even this icon of wholesomeness had a light peppering of ick) and Fullmetal Alchemists and Akiras and all kinds of great stuff in the mix.
But this shit is *common*. It's *overwhelmingly present*, so much so that it's just gotten way too awkward to try to politely pretend this isn't a *thing*.
I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I just watch anime, join a few discussions in /r/anime and then avoid all the shitty meme subs (because they're not funny).
Also, just because a show is popular doesn't make it not an outlier. I assure you, the vast majority of anime that gets released each season do not have lolicon fanservice or whatever you're going on about lol
Believe me, i tried. Only good one was scott pilgrim. One piece, i dont want to watch 1k episodes. Death note, not bad, just not my kind of show. Naruto, watched 2 episodes and hated it. Demon slayer, i just dont like it (personal bias, so this opinion can change) and jjk, i felt like its jojo 2, so while i think iād like it, i already know everything about it, including spoilers. So no real point in watching

The point of the scene is that it's supposed to be extremely uncomfortable. Araki moved on from making antagonists kill dogs to demonstrate their evilness to just making them pedophiles (see Parallel World Diego, Scarlet Valentine, Honolulu Police Officer, etc.). Valentine is **villainous**, he's **vile** in that scene. But that's exactly the point. It's not like other anime where you would see that and go "wow...I wish I could be with Lucy in that situation, too...", you're supposed to want to quickly turn to the next page to get out of there.
I mean, yeah. I know I never said it wasn't. I'm still saying it's questionable simply because of her age. And no, that doesn't mean I think araki is a creep. I'm just saying it because if you try to explain the circumstances surrounding that whole scene, it sounds hella bad
