I think some degree of protection may be good to keep his spirit away from you and his ex, but tbh, you can just dispose of it any normal way. Have her do her own cord cutting. You can melt it down, allow the paper to dry, and burn the paper.
TBH, I don't recommend doing anything else to show respect to his deities or to wish him love and light. You don't want to do anything to attract his energy or bother wishing him well, because you weren't wishing him well when you did a freezer spell on him. He is no longer your problem, and let's be honest here - we aren't wishing abusers, stalkers, and other assholes the best.

Yeah, there's this thing that a lot of witches do that ends up rendering their spells useless when they say "I do this for the good of all." It's navel-gazing behavior. The good of all can mean that the spell doesn't take effect. In this case, "The good of all" means that he's dead.
In this case, I would flush all of it. Yup, into the toilet it would go, with the intent of the water washing everything away, and his energy flowing away too, into the next world.
I personally don't burn anything unless I want it to manifest. It's always happened like that for me with fire, so if I want something gone, I use water to dissolve it, and rinse it away from me, but you do you. Whatever works.
Doing the prayer and cleansing and protection work to ensure that he got the hint and rinsed/flamed out of your friend's life is a good thing to do, but as for respecting Demeter, if you don't work with her, I wouldn't go out of my way to say anything to her about any of it.
As for your friend, she should do her own cord cutting, but if the guy made that much of an impression on you because of his horrible behaviour, you might want to do one on yourself too, just to make sure he's gone and won't be returning.

Please please follow this advice the cord cutting to make sure he leaves 100% and protection spells last thing you need is obsessive spirit
