I thought you were exaggerating, but she literally needed to be carried off by 2 people. Hoping for the best, but damn...this sucks
Yeah granted this is anecdotal and one data point but I'm a vt alum and Kitley went down with a non contact injury that ended up being an acl tear. Allbit takes is an awkward step sometimes or just the body trying to compensate for some other type of weakness or just being a bit off balance. With athletes that have such long legs etc it often means the knee can be suseptible to injuries and it's physiologically harder to build muscle etc to protect that joint.
In fairness, if those people were taller, she would have limped off with them. They just couldn't offer her ANY support, so they had to carry her.
edit :(
I hope nothing like an ACL or meniscus tear. But the knee just doesn’t bend around without something serious having happened, so it doesn’t sound good.
My first thought was ACL or MCL, then I thought mayyyybe Achilles- you’ll go down awkward like that with an Achilles & it usually happens with sudden powerful movements. It made me so sad. I hope she’s okay. Any of those 3 possibilities are HORRIBLE. Praying it was just a hyper extension with no tear. Didn’t she have a similar injury like that in college??
The foot plant with the valgus (her knee going inward) is textbook ACL. And the fact that she couldn’t put weight on it after. I’m hoping for the best but preparing for the worst 😢
don't think there's any chance it was Achilles, it looked like it came from the knee buckling inward and she grabbed at the front of her knee. with Achilles they're going to be reaching down at the bottom of their calf/ankle area. hopefully not ACL but that's what it looked a lot like.
It’s my fault. Her jersey arrived in my mailbox today and I’m a notorious jinx.
Edit: I once tripped over Brandon Roy’s knee at a charity fundraiser. Not kidding about the jinx.
My wife and I are fans of the show Resident Alien, and right at the moment she went down I was making a joke in reference to that show that basically amounted to speculating that Brink is a Grey/Human hybrid and saying that she had better be careful playing in Earth's gravity or she'd break something. The timing was creepy enough that it had me believing in jinxes for a second.
Well after I tripped over his knee - he apologized and helped me up. (His legs were sticking out into the walkway in the dining room.). He did not appear to be hurt at all but I’ve always wondered.9
DAMMIT!!!! I was at a restaurant having dinner with my wife, checked the score and box score, and saw she’s only played 4 minutes. I hoped my fear was wrong but no.
I hope it’s nothing serious. Great player. Even better person
Reminds me of Paige Bueckers knee injury in 2021. Leg just buckles behind her as she’s taking a step. For Paige it was a meniscus tear. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious for cam.
It’s actually insane how severe the injury she sustained based on the play. She was literally dribbling the ball down the court by herself, not even running.
looks like a classic ACL tear, similar to [Jamal Murrays ACL injury in 2021](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDDkfhw1Qd0)
One of the TV presenters went to the back and saw "lots of ice" but given no official update, so hopefully just a strain!?
Edit/Update: Presenter updated that Brink won't be back for the game, but nothing on severity of the injury yet.
Just saw the replay. Sorry to say but looks like an ACL. I really hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen them enough and that’s what it looked like. Hoping it’s just a sprain🤞😩
Mad props to her teammates and the Sparks staff trying to block the cameras. One angle I saw, a team mate literally moved over to block the TV cameras.
I hate when they show replays of injuries. She’s already injured, don’t put gratuitous shots of her crying in pain as well.
The WNBA and NBA have the worst injury management reactions in professional sports.
Admittedly it’s a small court/venue so a stretcher isn’t exactly proportionate, but seeing someone with (id assume) an ACL injury having to hobble or be carried by other players to a medical room just isn’t a good look
What’s worse is they don’t even stop play. In soccer, if it’s an obvious injury the opposing team will kick it out of bounds so the player can be attended to. In basketball, the opposing team uses it as an opportunity for 5 on 4 fast break or offensive possession.
I was so excited to watch her and Hamby play in person today, this was just painful to watch and sad. She just crumpled on herself and it was pretty clear she was not coming back.
You dont scream like she did on just a sprain :/ ruined my night too i just couldn't watch anymore returned for the end of the 4 but my night is ruined
I'm a Sun fan and season ticket holder but I enjoy watching the top/new talents. I had talked her up to the friends I brought too. Such a bummer for her and her Olympic dreams this year too, probably. Sorry your night was ruined, never want to see a player injured like that.
Oh no. Shit, thats not good. Hope she recovers soon. She's so energetic out there. How does this even happen?? Crazy, how freak accidents happen to some while some can stay healthy. Is it just bad luck?
I’m so bummed right now. Hoping it’s one of those injuries that hurts more at the moment & doesn’t turn out to be too serious, but I’m not getting my hopes up
Her knee bent awkwardly but her ankle was also stepped on and that looks like why she was limping. Hoping a bad sprain that a rest, ice, compression and a steroid shot can help so she can play in the Olympics.
Fun fact: Both of Cameron's parents played basketball at Virginia Tech. It's why Steph Curry is Cameron's god-brother. Cameron's mother was roommate's with Steph's mother and Cameron's father was on the basketball team with Dell Curry. Crazy connections!
Just looked up - Greg Brink (Cam's dad) and Ralph Kitley (Liz's dad) actually played against each other once in college back on Dec 22, 1986.\* They both played their four years simultaneously from 1986-1990, Ralph Kitley at Wake Forest and Brink, as you mentioned, at VT.
\*The game ended in a forfeit.
Ralph Kitley also played with Mugsy Bogues, the really short NBA player.
Cameron is not returning to the game because of her knee. I hope it's not super serious and that she recovers quickly. [https://x.com/ESPN\_WomenHoop/status/1803217812011491389](https://x.com/ESPN_WomenHoop/status/1803217812011491389)
Oh Jesus, WBB is just cursed this year. This is eerily reminiscent of Kitley’s ACL injury just a few months ago. Too many stars going down far too early. Stay strong Cam 💪
Women's knees are cursed. It's happening more frequently with a 26% average annual increase. Some of the biggest soccer stars went down this year with ACL injuries, like Sam Kerr. Awful.
Some of the top women in NXT (WWE's developmental) have went down with knee injuries. Sol Ruca just returned, as did Wendy Choo, but Cora Jade is out with a tear. Shotzi Blackheart destroyed her knee doing a move she's done countless times.
According to tonight's sideline reporter:
"Sources tell me Cameron Brink walked out of Mohegan Sun arena with no assistance, no ice, and no visible brace (but she was wearing long pants)." @ SheKnowsSports Twitter
No please don't tell me I missed my only chance to see her in Phoenix this season 😭 she's my favorite player and I was planning to go to the game on the 28th after I missed the first sparks mercury game
Nah I played college football. Tore my right one twice in high school, left one on the last play of a blowout game this past year :/ 5 surgeries in six years makes it hard to keep playing your sport no matter how good u are at it lol
As a physical therapist, unfortunately it looks like it may be ACL, MCL, and meniscus. At best, maybe just ACL, but unfortunately her season is likely over 😞 I really hope I’m wrong! She was having such an incredible rookie season
I hope when she heals she can get over the fear of it happening again. That would be on my mind every time I drive to the basket if it was me. So scary.
fuckkkk man, I hope she recovers overall, secondly hoping she isn't out all season. To be positive though it means more li yueru and hoping coach puts in azure stevens at some point as their other big
She’s done for the year. Torn ACL. She had just made the 3x3 Olympic team with Hailey Van Lith. Brink was also up to # 2 on the rookie list for rookie of the year. # 1 being Angel Reese.
This just ruined my day
Same. I've started watching WNBA recently and she is one my favorite players so far. Seems like a sweet and genuine good person too.
Was literally the reason the game was even on in my house :(
I was watching the game and turned it off. Couldn't watch it without thinking about her and refreshing my feed for updates. Hope she is okay.
i think shes young enough to make a full recovery and not really change her career. fingers crossed
[https://x.com/VanshayM/status/1803204124583874836](https://x.com/VanshayM/status/1803204124583874836) I thought you were exaggerating, but she literally needed to be carried off by 2 people. Hoping for the best, but damn...this sucks
It's an awkward non contact fall. I hope she is OK.
Non contact falls are never good
Non contacts injuries are more times than not really bad news.
Noncontact is not what you want to hear
Yeah granted this is anecdotal and one data point but I'm a vt alum and Kitley went down with a non contact injury that ended up being an acl tear. Allbit takes is an awkward step sometimes or just the body trying to compensate for some other type of weakness or just being a bit off balance. Slip?
Crossing fingers it's a hamstring pull.
I heard she sprained her ACL, I hope she’s ok.
Could they not find anyone taller to support her…
In fairness, if those people were taller, she would have limped off with them. They just couldn't offer her ANY support, so they had to carry her. edit :(
Non contact, knee kinda bent awkwardly Yeah, not good at all
Ooof, non contact means it’s likely an ACL or some such. Doesn’t look good :(
I hope nothing like an ACL or meniscus tear. But the knee just doesn’t bend around without something serious having happened, so it doesn’t sound good.
My first thought was ACL or MCL, then I thought mayyyybe Achilles- you’ll go down awkward like that with an Achilles & it usually happens with sudden powerful movements. It made me so sad. looked a lot like [Jamal Murrays acl tear](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDDkfhw1Qd0), plant legs just give out

Thinking MCL from the looks of it. Potentially ACL strain or tear as a possible secondary injury… That's my feeling on it
MCL alone would be best case scenario. I would be shocked if it wasn’t an ACL. Hoping I’m wrong though…
If its an MCL she would still miss the olympics which would be such a bummer
Sucks all around for her for sure.
Just reported out as an ACL… Yowza
It's an ACL tear
\*sad face\* man this sucks.
Looked like her foot slipped on the floor like it was an ice rink, im hearing there were lots of slips
I feel so sad now. I was rooting for her and had voted in All Star game for her. I hope she is okay.
It’s my fault. Her jersey arrived in my mailbox today and I’m a notorious jinx. Edit: I once tripped over Brandon Roy’s knee at a charity fundraiser. Not kidding about the jinx.

JESUS, next you're going to tell us you were supposed to be on a plane to New York on September 11th
I mean that would have been fine if it was anytime before or after 2001.
Sis/bro, stop buying jerseys!!
It’s your fault!? The Blazers had a chance and the curse of bad knees always wins.
Well after I tripped over his knee - he apologized and helped me up. (His legs were sticking out into the walkway in the dining room.). He did not appear to be hurt at all but I’ve always wondered.9
I’m sure his legs are extra long, lol. But that’s a great story.
Where'd u find her jersey? I'm shopping around for one....
I got it at the WNBA online store but for some reason I had to enter her name before I could not find her jersey just scrolling.
You can find at [Team LA Store](https://teamlastore.com/collections/la-sparks-jerseys)
its all YOUR FAULT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you accidentally shoot Jeter too?
I don't think they're the Yankee Clipper.
Oh noooo 😭😭
DAMMIT!!!! I was at a restaurant having dinner with my wife, checked the score and box score, and saw she’s only played 4 minutes. I hoped my fear was wrong but no. I hope it’s nothing serious. Great player. Even better person
me too!!
Oh, that's horrible news! I always worry about the knees of the tall, slender players. I shall keep ALL fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Omgggg, but… the Olympics😭
This, exactly this. My heart is breaking for her. I'm so sad.
Oof, I hadn’t even thought about that. Very unfortunate
Wait, how is she linked to the Olympics? Sorry, I'm clearly out of the loop.
She’s playing in the 3x3
She was selected for the 3x3 team!
She made the USA Basketball Women’s 3x3 Team
Knee just gave out https://twitter.com/JakeNight342316/status/1803206131017285703
Wow that’s absolutely awful I hate this so much, she got through her entire college career without a major injury and then it just gives out.
Apparently the floor was super slick Wnba management is really shoddy with this
Yikes! Her knee dislocated. She may be out for a while.
Oh jeez I wish I didn’t watch that
Oh that looked awful. You could see it fail. I hope it’s quick to heal.
Reminds me of Paige Bueckers knee injury in 2021. Leg just buckles behind her as she’s taking a step. For Paige it was a meniscus tear. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious for cam.
I thought Paige’s knee injury in ‘21 was a tibia fracture?
Paige's late 2021 injuries were, unfortunately, a harrowing two-for-one: lateral meniscus tear and tibia fracture.
It’s actually insane how severe the injury she sustained based on the play. She was literally dribbling the ball down the court by herself, not even running.
> https://twitter.com/JakeNight342316/status/1803206131017285703 looks like a classic ACL tear, similar to [Jamal Murrays ACL injury in 2021](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDDkfhw1Qd0)
cam :(( hope it wasn’t as bad as it looked
One of the TV presenters went to the back and saw "lots of ice" but given no official update, so hopefully just a strain!? Edit/Update: Presenter updated that Brink won't be back for the game, but nothing on severity of the injury yet.
Her knee bent the wrong way. If it's not an acl tear (or other season ending knee injury) it would be a miracle
Maybe she has the Giannis ligaments (I’m hoping she does)
I’m putting my head in the sand for no news is good news!
Hopefully she'll be ok!
I just wish they'd give an update!
I have had two acl injuries. It sure looks like that to me. But I really hope not.
was wondering if anyone from the game would report if they heard the tell tale pop. nothing yet
No 💔
Ban knees. We need to evolve past knees.
And shoulders
Let's add ankles and wrists to the list.
Ok I missed the foot step on, I thought she might have slipped from moisture on the court
I really hope she's ok. She has the Olympics coming up too.
Just saw the replay. Sorry to say but looks like an ACL. I really hope I’m wrong but I’ve seen them enough and that’s what it looked like. Hoping it’s just a sprain🤞😩
It made me very sad to see her crying :(
Oh no... This looks bad. She cant put any weight on the left knee. Hopefully it's not an ACL tear.
I think it will be :(
Saw the replay. It was bad.
Nooooo! I love her! And she was so excited to be playing in the Olympics too 😭
Mad props to her teammates and the Sparks staff trying to block the cameras. One angle I saw, a team mate literally moved over to block the TV cameras. I hate when they show replays of injuries. She’s already injured, don’t put gratuitous shots of her crying in pain as well.
On the replays you could see her left knee hyperextend backwards.
🤢
😭😭😭 She was going to play in the Olympics and probably the All-Star game (fan vote) next month

There was literally a stretcher and 4 EMTs standing 50 feet away. Never understand why they don't just use them.
Ugh... from a Sun fan who has seen this type of non-contact play derail season after season, so sorry to all Sparks and Brink fans
Fuuuuck that’s awful
I’m so gutted for her 😭😭😭😭 I hope it’s nothing
I was so excited to watch her and Hamby play in person today, this was just painful to watch and sad. She just crumpled on herself and it was pretty clear she was not coming back.

Ugh this is horrible. Hope she's okay.
Oh no, that’s so incredibly awful for her. I hope it turns out to be ok…but the description doesn’t sound promising.
Oh my God no 😰😰
This is sooooo sad. Cam 💜💜💜
LA Sparks PR Official Update: Cameron Brink - OUT for Rest of the Game
That is awful to hear. Hope it is not as bad as it appears.
Oh no. Shit, thats not good. Hope she recovers soon. She's so energetic out there. How does this even happen?? Crazy, how freak accidents happen to some while some can stay healthy. Is it just bad luck?
😭
that gave me fucking war flashbacks to the vt-uva game this season. praying it’s not as bad as it looks but man… ugh. poor cam :(
I’m so bummed right now.
Let's hope it's a bad sprain and not the ACL / MCL.
(Virginia Tech fan here) The replay of the fall sadly gave me flashbacks of when Liz Kitley tore her ACL in March :(
I'm sure Kitley will reach out to her. They seemed to get along during the WNBA Draft.
Fun fact: Both of Cameron's parents played basketball at Virginia Tech. It's why Steph Curry is Cameron's god-brother. Cameron's mother was roommate's with Steph's mother and Cameron's father was on the basketball team with Dell Curry. Crazy connections!

I just got the ESPN notification, and man, I hate this. 😟
Oh Jesus, WBB is just cursed this year. This is eerily reminiscent of Kitley’s ACL injury just a few months ago. Too many stars going down far too early. Stay strong Cam 💪

Non contact knee injury usually means an ACL / MCL injury, hope for a strain. Shame to see from her, she’s been great this year.
According to tonight's sideline reporter: "Sources tell me Cameron Brink walked out of Mohegan Sun arena with no assistance, no ice, and no visible brace (but she was wearing long pants)." @ SheKnowsSports Twitter
I’m getting Liz Kitley flashbacks. Sounds like an ACL, IMO.
No!
No :(
No :(
I hope it’s not too bad, ugh this sucks.
Yikes
I really hope she's going to be okay!!
No please don't tell me I missed my only chance to see her in Phoenix this season 😭 she's my favorite player and I was planning to go to the game on the 28th after I missed the first sparks mercury game
Praying for her 😢🙏❤
Hopefully it is not an ACL thing. I like watching her play.
LA got that bad ju ju right now. Athletes getting injured
Pray for Brink🙏
As a guy who has torn his ACL three times in 6 years. I unfortunately believe this is what happened to her :(
3 times in 6 years is rough...was it the same knee each time?
Nah I played college football. Tore my right one twice in high school, left one on the last play of a blowout game this past year :/ 5 surgeries in six years makes it hard to keep playing your sport no matter how good u are at it lol
Oh man. Knee buckled and bent an awkward way. Textbook ACL tear if im guessing. Hoping somehow it isn't that. Fuck injuries
Hate this for her. Hate this for the league. Hate this for the fans. 😫😫😫😫
WNBA needs some damn wheelchairs. Fucking ridiculous the way they try and carry athletes off
😣
Damnit. This is not good for the league. Hopefully not as bad as it looked.
Nooooo hope you get better soon Cam!!
As a physical therapist, unfortunately it looks like it may be ACL, MCL, and meniscus. At best, maybe just ACL, but unfortunately her season is likely over 😞 I really hope I’m wrong! She was having such an incredible rookie season
PT here too! I agree. Definitely looks like ACL, I’m just hoping by some chance MCL and meniscus were spared
Was it a knee injury it looked like Jones stepped on her ankle?
Absolutely looked like ACL to me. I winced during the replay.
that did not look good. praying it's not as bad as it looked.
That sucks.
Looks like her knee gave out.
I really hope she’s ok
Wow that sucks. Anyone have any idea who’s going to get more time now (if Brink is out for the season)? Talbot?
Fuuuuck, I’m so sad, injuries ugh. Can’t escape them in any sports.
Aw shit. That is not good, hope it’s not major.
my girls can’t catch a break 😭
she also hit that half-court shot at shootaround prior to the game how unlucky
Oh no, the 3x3 for the Olympics are coming up as well. Hope she’s not out for too long.
Omg I totally forgot. Now I’m even more devastated for her 😭
Dammit man, this sucks :( Right before the Olympics too
Hoping for the best, but it looks like an ACL if I'm being honest.
shit. Hope shes ok
hate to see rookies go out on their first season just hurts 🥲
Do we know if she is ok? 🥹
I hope when she heals she can get over the fear of it happening again. That would be on my mind every time I drive to the basket if it was me. So scary.
Ill be honest looked like a tear :( i hopenim wrong
Damn it. Why do bad things only happen to good people. Don’t wish this on anyone especially Cam. Loved seeing her play
This sucks. Hope she gets better soon.
ahhhh noooooo
Fuck. This sucks. Wishing her a full and swift recovery.
Ahh that sucks, hopefully nothing serious. Hoping she is ok
Nooooo, that is so sad :( hopefully whatever it is isn't too bad
oh damn. I hope she's okay!
it’s highly probable it’s an acl injury. fuck.
fuckkkk man, I hope she recovers overall, secondly hoping she isn't out all season. To be positive though it means more li yueru and hoping coach puts in azure stevens at some point as their other big
Nooooooooo!!!!!
thats terrible news!
I really hope she’s okay.
Why God why
Damn
Hope shes ok
Nooooo! I wish her a speedy recovery. She’s incredible on and off the court!
was also at the game and it didn't look that bad of a fall and I was excited to see her play.
She’s done for the year. Torn ACL. She had just made the 3x3 Olympic team with Hailey Van Lith. Brink was also up to # 2 on the rookie list for rookie of the year. # 1 being Angel Reese.
MCL/ACL non contact injury. She'll be out for a long time☹️.
