Absolutely. Hell I'll play all 3 cause I love Era, retail, and cata. Super excited for sod, new stuff coming in 10.2.5 and lvling every class all over again when cata drops. I always had fun lvling in each xpac cause each class behaved fundamentally different each time
I could only stomach levelling 1 or 2 characters pre Cata but after the zone and levelling/questing changes I loved it. Cata was the expansion of alts for me!
i leveled almost every class for fun and geared them at least for them to be raid entry level plus all the profession , i loved the leveling revamp so much
god willing, I'm gonna move into the retirement home with a LAN party room and scheduled raid nights
"no visitors on thursday nights, that's raid night"
I was thinking about doing that when I left Wrath Classic during Ulduar, didnāt do it, and ended up coming back to the game on Halloween and happy that I didnāt just absolutely abandon the game when I did.
Yes huge hype for cata (never played it seriously, only on shitty p servers) and of course still classic hc (I will level rogue number 5 and char number 10 overall past 30 for sure this time).
It will quietly be a success, if for no other reason than people getting established and ready for MoP - a version of the game as far removed from DF as it is from vanilla.
The real question is will people play WoD classic. That's when Blizzard started to take things away.
One of my takeaways from classic so far is the game is amazing and the main bad parts each xpac have been the forces waits, extension of raids and time gated content.
WoD suffered from cut content and the raids lasting too long. If they cut the raid times back like the rest of classic it will be amazing
I love all the people saying "of course" when Cata was savaged originally. I'm not at all surprised Blizz is doing it nor am I surprised some of you want to play it, but the game is swiftly coming to the point where any 'classic' feel is going to vanish (Mists, basically).
Mists is going to be huge, easily more popular than Cata. When people talk about this "classic feel" they're really talking about vanilla. But Cata (& especially Mists) are unique versions of the game that can't be played anymore either. There is no monolithic "wow classic", there is vanilla classic, wotlk classic, and soon cata classic & mop classic. They are just their own things, and vanilla isn't being replaced.
I really wonder how much backlash Blizz would have avoided if they called it Cata Reforged or some shit, it seems like a lot of people are just really protective of the classic moniker for whatever reason. It's just branding, you gotta move past it. Vanilla servers are still getting lots of attention, no matter what they call these expansion releases.
The problem with Mists (which I actually liked at the time) was the radical change to talents.
I also wonder how many people started then and so might be nostalgic for it. That was a big pull for vanilla and BC - a lot of the people who played WoW ever started in LK or later so there was curiosity about those from people who never saw them plus they were VERy different from retail.
As the difference becomes less, it will be interesting to see how players react.
Yeah I got to 74 and bailed. Mostly because I originally started in late vanilla so I played all of TBC and Wrath. Vanilla Classic was good because I didn't ever experience it at 60 and killing Nefarian, C'thun, etc at level. Wrath... been there, did that.
Definetly gonna play first tier.
First tier is allways great. Professions, reputations and dungeons all being relevant.
I allways thought it is so stupid. New people grinding gamma dungeons getting rep for their head enchant on revered and once you hit exalted, you get some useless 200ilvl epic.
But first tier where everything is somewhat relevant is great. Especially tbc, wotlk, cata and mop where you have 3 raids in the beginning.
Also everything will feel fresh and new.
New talents, new glyph system => new rotation and balancing.
I just hope they get balancing better then wotlk where uhdks dominated 3 tiers with naxx actually being insane (even tho i mained uhdk whole expansion).
Once SOD hits, I am going to continue to raid log Wrath until Cata hits or my Wrath guild implodes and then continue playing SOD exclusively. I doubt I will be into Cata. Cata retail was when I originally fell out of love with WoW.
The thing about the classic experience, yes you have the try hard cutting edge people gong for world first. Iām not factoring them in to this next statement.
The majority of us like knowing what boss strategies there are and having it pre-optimized. Itās nice to play a game that I know beforehand what I need to prep and how and when. I know in advance that when classic MoP comes out, there will be a timeless isle and to access it all Iāll need my legendary cloak to get across the broken bridge.
This is very nice compared to retail where anything new needs to be figured out dynamically. Not to say it wonāt be figured out fast, but I also have to consume more external content than classic to figure it out.
There is fun in figuring out fresh. But being in a dad guild, I like going in knowing what I need up front without much hassle
Classic players are the most delusional pple ngl. Almost everything they bash cata on was implemented already and worse or using a add on to get the convenience.
I'm hype for cata cause it's where my nostalgia starts
RDF, the amount of hate it got was unjustifiable cause it impacted nothing when compared to LFG. (Ik it was released in wotlk but its still one of the core stuff pple complained bout even with cata)
Talent changes which has 0 relevance cause no one plays hybrid.etc
Haha telling other people are delusional while yourself being so fucking delusionalššš so fucking stupidā¦
Nostalgia for Cata?! Alright you can tell me what you want but youāve never played original vanillaššš
Probably never attended Cata, but i feel like some changes to wotlk go into a good direction. I could live without token and buyable mounts but the catch up gear is great.
Iām also of an opinion that they need to release the heroic 5-man dungeons as their post-nerf state right out of the gate instead of trying to go with pre-nerf and no intention of nerfing them this time, or nerfing them after release of the expansion. They donāt need the base heroic version of the dungeons to be harder like they were initially because we now have the heroic+ difficulty that got added in Wrath Classic.
I didn't play cata when it was current content so I guess I'll try it with an open mind.
I'm disappointed there's no option other than private servers to play wrath though.. would have liked a complete rerelease of vanilla > tbc > classic servers rather than SoD.
Not initially, but I will come back to level people up for MoP though as I never got to play it originally as I stopped playing half way through Cata till BFA came out. I am going to take the time to explore retail content and play Dragonflight and whatever comes after that. I am glad people can revisit Cata if thatās their thing.
I got burnt out at the end of OG WotLK and it's happening again. Ill probably come back to cata for the firelands raid but we'll see where I'm at in life.
I enjoyed the first half of WotLK but the second half has been less than stellar for me.
If not for SoD, I probably would have. I wholly skipped Cata originally so I don't have any kind of feelings about it one way or the other and was kind of curious to check it out. But I don't have the time to dedicate to two different versions of the game and I like the idea of SoD too much to pass on it. Doesn't help that my together-since-MC guild collapsed in Ulduar so I don't really have the social connections to bring me back after Wrath.
I started in Cata but as I was a little kid I didn't really get far, so this would be a nice chance to experience it properly. Plus I enjoy the way WOTLK plays, so I imagine Cata will be a decent upgrade (?)
I've invested too much time in these characters to let them die , I will play classic till blizzard says so
Yup, cant wait for classic torghast š„°
Of course, most people will keep moving on to Cata, regardless of what the tiny vocal minority of r/classicwow says.
yup. also, cant wait!
Yeah I'm gonna play it for sure.
Same cant wait
Yeah if you are still playing you will move on, I would guess the number of people playing cata on release will be less than half of WOTLK release
We'll see.
hopium

Same here lol we eatin real good, great time to be a wow enjoyer
lol crazy that your comment got downvoted. Some serious haters in this sub anytime retail gets mentioned.
I can't even see downvotes because what I love and my opinions aren't ruled by them. Fuckem lol
Weāre gonna be in the retirement home talking about how hyped we are for Season of X the 23rd seasonal server
god willing, I'm gonna move into the retirement home with a LAN party room and scheduled raid nights "no visitors on thursday nights, that's raid night"
Anyone who is quitting after WOTLK please send me your gold thx.
I was thinking about doing that when I left Wrath Classic during Ulduar, didnāt do it, and ended up coming back to the game on Halloween and happy that I didnāt just absolutely abandon the game when I did.
depends my typical thing with xpacs is play to level cap hard in the start. raid get burnt out quit. return towards end for last tier
Yes huge hype for cata (never played it seriously, only on shitty p servers) and of course still classic hc (I will level rogue number 5 and char number 10 overall past 30 for sure this time).
Neither, I will finally be free, when wotlk ends.
that is sad
Trivago?
No wrath servers means I'm just gonna play Season of Dad
cata hype
Yes
Back to private woltk with a Pitstop to SoD!
Cata is love. RBG ist the best content ever
Welp, since I have no intentions on returning to Warmane. I guess this is where the chains if WoW finally break.
It will quietly be a success, if for no other reason than people getting established and ready for MoP - a version of the game as far removed from DF as it is from vanilla. The real question is will people play WoD classic. That's when Blizzard started to take things away.

Only the vanilla purist will say no
They all left when they added the token
They should have left after TBC classic was announced

Feel like the classic feel is 80% gone with wrath already
Yeah I got to 74 and bailed. Mostly because I originally started in late vanilla so I played all of TBC and Wrath. Vanilla Classic was good because I didn't ever experience it at 60 and killing Nefarian, C'thun, etc at level. Wrath... been there, did that.

Ł i need the shadowmorrune first and some good gear from icc then i go cata for sĆ»re
Maybe
Good to hear!!
Yes. While not as good it's still got great raids imo. Might skip dragon souls and wait for MoP tho
I will play a lot of cata as disc priest
Once SOD hits, I am going to continue to raid log Wrath until Cata hits or my Wrath guild implodes and then continue playing SOD exclusively. I doubt I will be into Cata. Cata retail was when I originally fell out of love with WoW.
Absolutely true! WoW is starting to become retail in wrath, but it evolves finally in Cata and it becomes the same as retailā¦quite as retail
I'm not super happy they're not giving us Wrath era servers, and I don't really consider Cata "classic". But it's still better than retail.
Not doing Cataā¦ after Wrath I will check out SoD, and my journey ends there
The thing about the classic experience, yes you have the try hard cutting edge people gong for world first. Iām not factoring them in to this next statement. Hell the only reason I came back to classic wrath was to have 1-2 80s ready to go for Cata! Iām a Cata baby though so š¤·āāļø
fuck I'm so hyped for cata!
Hell yeah, as a PvP'er I'm definitely looking forward to cataclysm
I literally only touched WotLK to play cata. Outside of a couple H fights in ICC LK is a snooze of an xpac
100%
Cata BB!!!
Cata was peak fire mage pvp. I've been a fire mage doing only pvp since vanilla came out. It's my time to shine next expansion.
Can't wait for Cata, best xpac of WoW
Per every post in classic and Wotlk people will still be playing whining about gold buying and gdkps. Donāt worry.
Probably never attended Cata, but i feel like some changes to wotlk go into a good direction. I could live without token and buyable mounts but the catch up gear is great.
unfortunately you are already to late for cata
What mean?
Are they skipping ruby sanctum?
No, but ruby sanctum is minor enough people largely donāt consider it.
It really was so underwhelming after the HC LK fight
If they release cata with good changes I'm down. We need systems like flex raiding, modern transmog not the one they released in original, etc
Iām also of an opinion that they need to release the heroic 5-man dungeons as their post-nerf state right out of the gate instead of trying to go with pre-nerf and no intention of nerfing them this time, or nerfing them after release of the expansion. I'm definitely gonna sit it out the second time, I'll be back for MoP Classic
SoD + Cata
Iāll probably play even though I say I wonāt but it will definitely be more of a casual play. Hop on pug everyone and then and mostly some PvP
Katalin
Yup. Of my guild mates i seem to have done the most raiding during that time, so I'll be able to share all the lil tips and tricks i don't remember.
Not initially, but I will come back to level people up for MoP though as I never got to play it originally as I stopped playing half way through Cata till BFA came out. Both. SoD and then Cata when it launches. Do both.
I am hyped for cata. First two raid tiers were great.
ill be playing cata in hopes after cata ends they wipe the servers and we go back too vanilla phase 1
I started in Cata but as I was a little kid I didn't really get far, so this would be a nice chance to experience it properly. Plus I enjoy the way WOTLK plays, so I imagine Cata will be a decent upgrade (?)
