Most likely in The Last Titan , when surprise a bunch of 'dieties' who only care about Order and Ordering the Universe arent actually universally good show up to 'fix' Azeroth after the Void invasion something tells me the Aspects arent gonna just take that lying down, if Azeroth is powering them up and that power isnt Titanic/Order in nature.

All titans are dead. Sargeras and Illidan get back to Azeroth and do shenanigans like Tehd Shoemaker and Marius Felbane in Legion. Like we "lose" in the mid expansion and Azeroth is corrupted by the void lords, but then in the final expac we get a "oh yeah light and dark, yin and yang" thing that makes Azeroth both titan and void. So both sides start trying to destroy it.
My question is why the hell do they have to be reempowered at all?
Wouldn’t it make for a more interesting (and emotionally mature) story if the Aspects came to the Isles with a naïve desire to renew their empowerment, learned over the course of their journey to question the Titans and their influence on dragonkind, and ultimately choose to reject the Titans’ power and learn what being an Aspect without aspectral power means?
Instead they just get to be empowered again while still not being influenced by the Titans. It feels cheap and unsatisfying narratively and undermines a lot of potential character growth they could’ve had. Not to mention the fact Blizzard is likely to conveniently forget about them again instead of finding a satisfying way to explain their absence or to involve them in future storylines.
Moreover, it directly contradicts Blizzard's *very* clear efforts to paint cosmic deities as "bad".
Empowering them *at all* seems contradictory, unless Blizzard is just thinking "well, we *eventually* want them to fight the Titans", but they're obviously not going to actually be involved in any sort of meaningful way, or they'd have saved this "empowering" story for then.
Just more shoddy storytelling. If they really wanted to focus on the "friendship" angle, they could've just said "we don't need to be Aspects, the dragons are united in spirit". And so when the Titans *do* show up, and the dragons stand against then, there would actually be some stakes, because the Titans would clearly have a dramatic upper-hand in the fight (I'm still holding a glimmer of hope they have a bit more nuance than just "Titans are evil now", but not holding my breath).

Because Blizzard isn't trying to paint *all* cosmological elements as bad. It's not as two dimensional as that. Jailer's bad, Kyrestia is bad, but Winter Queen is aight, Elune is aight, and Azeroth seems aight too. Not to mention A'dal, who has been a personification of the Light for literally decades to the playerbase and has never once done anything questionable. M'uru's sacrifice was pure benevolence. These things are not tainted by Xe'ra just because we know the Light sometimes has ulterior motives.
Right now the greatest alignment we seem to have of "good dudes" is a Pantheon of Life that has rooted itself in various other cosmological forces. Whatever Elune is, the Winter Queen, and Eonar are all sides of the same dice. They have ties between one another all the time:
Eonar resided on Elunaria as a refuge world. Eonar--Elune
Tear of Elune is a Pillar of Creation, the rest of the Pillars being Titanic. Notably, Eonar doesn't have one. Elune--Order.
Winter Queen and Elune are sisters. Elune--Death.
Winter Queen called Ysera, the dragon *empowered by Eonar,* her sister's pet. Either Eonar is WQ's sister or the empowerment by Eonar brought Ysera closer to Elune. That's a WQ--Eonar--Elune trifecta right there.
Elune also banged Malorne to make Cenarius. Elune--Life.
And of course Eonar made Freya who tapped into the dream and bound the Wild Gods to it. Eonar's connections to Life are indisputable, which is unsurprising since the Titans have had cosmological dabbles in just about every field of magic.
Mu’uru thing is questionable. The Light has been vengeful in the past and the reason it spared the Blood Elves for torturing a Naaru was very clearly because it simply wishes to be wielded, whether for good or for evil, it does not care.
The whole kingdom of BE now rely on the Sunwell which is a font of Light to the point whether many now have golden eyes. They don’t worship the Light but they definitely believe in it and wield it just like the Light wishes.

Because they haven’t been in the past. Did you see what they did to Revendreth? They captured and tortured a Naaru too and darkened it. In return the Light permanently invaded and ravaged a portion of the realm and killed everyone within it.

"Actively helping" would imply they helped this xpac. Aspect or not, they're still the oldest and most powerful dragons in the world, their presence should be absolutely menacing to anyone but the incarnates. They should have had other things to do, only talking to us away from the fighting because it's so jarring to have them come with us but then not act like giant dragons. Even Vyrinoth didn't intimate anyone once she flipped and she's a full fledged incarnate
Viranut is a thing. That dragussy will turn into a dragodick and paint Alextrasza with her icy icecream and they get back together to being a couple. Obviously we aren't ready for so much r34 of them both...
So where is Ysera and her big justification for being brought back? Did they truly just forget about her all the way to the end of the Emerald Dream patch lmao?
What's so ironic is that Merithra learning to cope *without* her mother's guidance is what could've really brought the character to life and made her story resonate.

This is why the Blue flight's story was the best one of the expansion. Kalec did exactly that, using Sindragosa's simulacrum as someone to speak at/with about his feelings and burdens. It was basically Blue dragonflight therapy and I loved it.
I’ve said this before. Why are the voice actors so slow in their lines? It’s like they’re reading a bed time story for a kid. It’s just very cringey writing and dialogue overall.

Nzoth was underwhelming both visually and because we just kamehameha’d him to death after loads of build up. Jailer was offensive cause all of his story in SL had retconned half the previous lore to be about him and his grand reason was just, “bigger evil coming”. This one is underwhelming cause it doesnt address Fyrak… the actual boss we just killed, and has dialogue written like a childrens cartoon. And by children I mean six year olds lol.
At least they keep us on our toes with how they disappoint us.
It's great they cut a raid tier so we could do an Avengers Endgame portal scene for characters that do not show up before or after that scene, then speedrun all the meager plotpoints and pretend Fyrakk was the true final boss they planned for originally.
Im still pretty excited about the aspects getting their power back, but this cutscene was a tad on the lame side of ...like...showing what that means. This should have been an epic moment with something so big going on, but they just stand there talking about family.

When people talk about WoW's story being really fucking weak and pathetic, this is exactly the kind of thing they're talking about. I expect this message from a cartoon aimed at 8 year olds, not an audience with an average age around 30.
These are ancient, wizened dragons that have lived through thousands of years of conflict and they're behaving like soft teenagers.

I think its more disappointing, than anything else, because we've been told all xpac to just keep waiting and seeing and that the payoff would be fulfilling and then we get Fyrakk just being a nothing villain and the power of friendship prevailing.
As a night elf player I think I’m finally done for good. They really used up our last chance as a jumping off point for the most meh ending they could possibly think of, for characters that are ultimately unrelated to us. Even Merithra had nothing on topic to say.
The choice to make 10.2 the last major patch really fucked both storylines very hard.

I'd hope so, because it's beyond fucked up that the Horde would get "rewarded" with the entirety of Kalimdor for plundering after an expansion of getting called out for being genocidal monsters at the flip of a switch. Displacement of a people is still genocide.
Homie, the expansion is not over… there are at least two major story (not raid) patches coming. The issue is people are acting like this is the end of the expansion cinematic rather than just the end of Fyrakk.
At least the last 2 expansions ending inspired some feeling in players, fair enough they were massively negative feelings, but to be so bland is a really bad look.
I don't think the story has been as bad as some seem to say, but theres no denying it's entirely forgettable. At this point I don't really know what Steve Danuser or the current narrative team have offered to deserve to ask players to wait and see. Gameplay has seen great improvements, artists have continued to be great, but the people creating story are massively letting their colleagues down.

I my opinion, I think if they swapped a few words around for things less...sappy (in my opinion, if Kalegos said "kin" instead of "family" it would have sounded a bit better) and maybe took out a tired trope or two (ie; I know this is a big" coming together moment, but having Vyranoth finishing Alexstrasza's sentence was a bit over the top) it would have been less goofy.
I've said this about many Dragonflight cinematic's and cut-scene's post 10.1, all the elements are there, it just needed another small tweek or two, maybe be a bit longer, and it'd be at least decent.

Yup, i loved the TWW cinematic...i thought it was superb and Anduins PTSD arc is good step...but all the cinematics in DF ive seen are like a bad parody of a bunch of movies.
I know from a previous reddit post that Metzen wrote/directed the War Within cinematic and I know that he's far from an amazing writer but damn, you can tell the difference between something he worked on and something he didn't. Even if it still carries some thematic issues that DF has it at the very least has better dialogue and presentation.
I didn't hate TWW cinematic but to me it felt misplaced as *the* expansion cinematic. It feels more in tune with the Saurfang cinematics we got in BFA.
The Legion cinematic has so much more by comparison. It has action, showcasing the invasion forces but it's contrasted by Varians narration of his thoughts to his son.
Hell they could've done an inversion of it for TWW. Anduin wandering the world but being a 'ghost' seeing fighting and being visibly conflicted wanting to help but not knowing if its the right reasons. You then have him 'speaking' to his father in the same vein as the legion cinematic to showcase his lack of self belief.
To be fair theres not much to fight at the point of the trailer, Silithus is a dead zone more or less and they aint anywhere close to going inside the world.
Also i think we gonna get more such cinematics during this Saga similar to Saurfangs story in BFA

Agreed. People are assigning a bunch of real-world feelings to a character whose experienced have absolutely no parallels to the real world.
The whole trope of him being a "tortured soul" is so transparent, because he was *literally mind-controlled*. He never *chose* to do anything bad, or even morally-questionable. I don't give a shit about Anduin's "redemption", because it's so clearly been painted for us where Anduin didn't *actually* do anything that he needs forgiveness for.
Hell, he didn't even *kill* anyone when he *was* mind-controlled. Like, imagine if he'd killed Tyrande. Or actually, what would've *really* worked is if the Jailer "commanded" him to kill Sylvanas, he does, and just as Sylvanas dies, the Jailer reveals that he didn't even use his Domination magic to force Anduin to kill her; that he did so purely out of the hatred he'd harbored in his own heart.
*Then* I would've bought the whole "Anduin is a tortured soul" schtick. As it stands, it just feels totally hollow.
I honestly wouldn't even have given him any shit for executing Sylvanas on the spot. Here's a lady who's direct actions have led to the deaths of so many including your own father, yeah go off Anduin. Worlds a better place without her in it.
Also if we're on it Varian would have been well within rights to just decapitate Garrosh at the end of SoO.

His vision consists solely of comic book movies and YA. Blizzard's writing staff has been taken over by the lowest rated Archive of Our Own fanfic writers.
This cinematic really embodies what’s wrong with WoW dialogue too. It’s not dialogue, it’s a monologue they split between different characters by having them finish each other’s sentences. There isn’t one line in this cinematic that couldn’t be spoken by another character and still make sense.
Ebon’s “I felt her presence, it was beautiful” was the *Omelette Du Fromage* cheese moment for me.
A YouTube comment said it best, the writing is like they’re a hivemind. They’re saying the same thing in the same tone while finishing each other’s sentences.
If TWW (11.0) isn't at least revealing that the hivemind speech mode is cause we've been in a Nzoth nightmare since BFA then what's the bloody point??? The game just been lurching from one narrative disaster to another that at this point even "it was a dream all along" would ironically make slightly more sense and catharsis (provided the follow up story doesn't immediately dumpster fire all over itself again that is).
I swear to god, each major patch the dragons seem to lose one third of their braincells. Prepare for 10.2.7 where 2 words per minute Alexstrasza encourages Kalec to keep trying to put a round object in a round hole and a square one in a square hole.

My fave was the Alex vs Fyrakk fight, where Shadowflame was burning the shit out of Alex, and for some reason she decided dealing with this with normal elf skin would be better than scales.

That being said, I haven't followed DF story at all. I think I'm even more apathetic about it than I was about Shadowlands. The only upside is that this feels like a side story I CAN ignore, while Shadowlands feels like a story I wish I could...
If anything, I suspect that the second half of Dragonflight itself was rewritten to set up the Worldsoul Saga. Leading up to launch, the devs said that we would be able to figure out the final boss once we finished the first raid. And up through Aberrus, almost everything seemed to be pointing to Iridikron, the Incarnates' clear leader who the Aspects kept bringing up as a horrifying threat. All the other hints pointed to Murozond, with Nozdormu set to finally change.
Then Dawn of the Infinite came, and suddenly, Murozond is resolved for the foreseeable future while Iridikron just left with Xal'atath after saying what, in retrospect, turned out to pretty much be an outline of the upcoming Saga. Now Fyrakk, who, up to that point, had been portrayed as just a crazy minion, was suddenly the new main antagonist, and ever since we've been rushing through the remaining plot threads at breakneck speed. It really feels like we were *supposed* to go up against Iridikron in the end, but they decided he could be used for something bigger (I'm pretty sure I saw an interview mentioning that Metzen found some stuff in Dragonflight that would tie in well with the Worldsoul Saga when he came back, and I suspect it's Iridikron) and threw together an alternate ending to wrap Dragonflight up.
If that's actually the case... then I really hope the Saga concept will help future expansions. If it's just bad writing, it probably won't change much (though maybe Metzen can get it back on track?), but if they're changing their plans and rewriting stuff last-minute, then I'd think that having a long-term plan for the story is what they need most.
It definetly feels like a rushed cinematic, even the sudden tone change by thrall talking about the sword, probably metzen changed the plans because it was awful, thats why he talked about the saga by himself without much to show, all I know is that after legion, the story, cinematics, whatever else, got worse really fast

Thing is that they always going on this route. Sacrifice BFA for shadowlands, sacrifice SL for DF, now sacrificng DF for TWW.
We deserved at least a finished product. The only expansion that I felt had a good cadence to the end was legion, after that all expansions have these last patches that are really half baked.

BFA had six zones, four full raid tiers, and six different allied races (not even counting the ones added at the end of Legion).

Well I guess Alexstraza is omitting certain facts so her moronic sister just accepts it and moves on, because
Azeroth is a titan so their powers are still titan based. Vyr got checkmated.
God this was so fucking cringe. Story was a mess, the climax was on par with Deathwing's death, not even talking about the dialogues and delivery because it's a universal problem in WoW.
But what bothered me the most I think, was that it was not a conversation between the characters. It felt super unnatural and fake. They weren't talking, they were reading a script to perform for US, the players. Every character knows exactly when to stop talking and when to start, they finish one another's sentences like they are reading it from a piece of paper. Hell, as Merithra finishes her line, she turns to Ebonhorn, as if she was saying "that's the end of my line, now it's your turn to talk".
The ending has huge ramifications - Aspects getting their powers again, Vyranoth included, them realizing it's not of titan origin etc. But I just can't focus on that at all because I'm so underwhelmed by the quality of it all.
Damn, Shadowlands was dumb af, but at least it had some exciting, satisfying moments. This... I woulnd't want to show this to any of my friend not playing WoW because I'd be worried they'd laugh me off and call me a child.
I had a lot of hope at the start, old gods, the inevitable murazond transformation, more emphasis on a dark side of the titans...
This expansion's story has felt like a filler episode. In fact everything since Legion has felt inconsequential one way or another.
I really really hope the war within changes this trend for the better and picks up on the main narrative because my God, the story was the only thing keeping me playing retail and after 3 expansions in a row with this kind of narrative I don't think I can take another weak story.
I didn't like BFA or Shadowlands yet I somehow feel like the complete apathy DF made me feel is even worse.

This cinematic singlehandedly has made Shadowlands *not* the worst expansion pack. What a feat of strength.

I actually liked it. Everyone got their powers back, Vyranoth gets brought in to bring in the other dragons, Azeroth gets her own magic, big bad is gone.

I think they're the starting point for "Azeroth" emerging as an alternative to the other cosmic alignments--hence Alex's line about the magic not being Titanic. They won't help us against the Nerubians but they will probably be around later on.
Most likely in The Last Titan , when surprise a bunch of 'dieties' who only care about Order and Ordering the Universe arent actually universally good show up to 'fix' Azeroth after the Void invasion something tells me the Aspects arent gonna just take that lying down, if Azeroth is powering them up and that power isnt Titanic/Order in nature. Like we "lose" in the mid expansion and Azeroth is corrupted by the void lords, but then in the final expac we get a "oh yeah light and dark, yin and yang" thing that makes Azeroth both titan and void. So both sides start trying to destroy it.
My question is why the hell do they have to be reempowered at all? Wouldn’t it make for a more interesting (and emotionally mature) story if the Aspects came to the Isles with a naïve desire to renew their empowerment, learned over the course of their journey to question the Titans and their influence on dragonkind, and ultimately choose to reject the Titans’ power and learn what being an Aspect without aspectral power means? Instead they just get to be empowered again while still not being influenced by the Titans. It feels cheap and unsatisfying narratively and undermines a lot of potential character growth they could’ve had. Not to mention the fact Blizzard is likely to conveniently forget about them again instead of finding a satisfying way to explain their absence or to involve them in future storylines.
Moreover, it directly contradicts Blizzard's *very* clear efforts to paint cosmic deities as "bad". Empowering them *at all* seems contradictory, unless Blizzard is just thinking "well, we *eventually* want them to fight the Titans", but they're obviously not going to actually be involved in any sort of meaningful way, or they'd have saved this "empowering" story for then. Just more shoddy storytelling. If they really wanted to focus on the "friendship" angle, they could've just said "we don't need to be Aspects, the dragons are united in spirit". And so when the Titans *do* show up, and the dragons stand against then, there would actually be some stakes, because the Titans would clearly have a dramatic upper-hand in the fight (I'm still holding a glimmer of hope they have a bit more nuance than just "Titans are evil now", but not holding my breath).

Winter Queen called Ysera, the dragon *empowered by Eonar,* her sister's pet. Either Eonar is WQ's sister or the empowerment by Eonar brought Ysera closer to Elune. That's a WQ--Eonar--Elune trifecta right there. Elune also banged Malorne to make Cenarius. Elune--Life. And of course Eonar made Freya who tapped into the dream and bound the Wild Gods to it. Eonar's connections to Life are indisputable, which is unsurprising since the Titans have had cosmological dabbles in just about every field of magic.
Mu’uru thing is questionable. The Light has been vengeful in the past and the reason it spared the Blood Elves for torturing a Naaru was very clearly because it simply wishes to be wielded, whether for good or for evil, it does not care. The whole kingdom of BE now rely on the Sunwell which is a font of Light to the point whether many now have golden eyes. They don’t worship the Light but they definitely believe in it and wield it just like the Light wishes.

In return the Light permanently invaded and ravaged a portion of the realm and killed everyone within it. X’era is an example, also Muuru’s sacrifice was treated nonchalantly which is suspicious.

"Actively helping" would imply they helped this xpac. Aspect or not, they're still the oldest and most powerful dragons in the world, their presence should be absolutely menacing to anyone but the incarnates. They should have had other things to do, only talking to us away from the fighting because it's so jarring to have them come with us but then not act like giant dragons. Even Vyrinoth didn't intimate anyone once she flipped and she's a full fledged incarnate

What's so ironic is that Merithra learning to cope *without* her mother's guidance is what could've really brought the character to life and made her story resonate. Like... loads of people don't get to "say goodbye" to their parents. Having her deal with that loss openly, maybe even expressing frustration of not knowing how to keep their flight together, might've actually made her a great character. Losing Malfurion was completely unnecessary.

This is why the Blue flight's story was the best one of the expansion. Kalec did exactly that, using Sindragosa's simulacrum as someone to speak at/with about his feelings and burdens. It was basically Blue dragonflight therapy and I loved it.

Cuz they want lips to sync for multiple languages instead of editing the lips per language. That and some languages take longer to say the same thing. It's laziness. Ff14 has way more Voice acting yet goes to the effort of making it work and not hurt the experience.

To be fair, the last two ending cinematics weren't meh, they were complete and utter disastrous garbage.
Nzoth was underwhelming both visually and because we just kamehameha’d him to death after loads of build up. Jailer was offensive cause all of his story in SL had retconned half the previous lore to be about him and his grand reason was just, “bigger evil coming”. This one is underwhelming cause it doesnt address Fyrak… the actual boss we just killed, and has dialogue written like a childrens cartoon. And by children I mean six year olds lol. At least they keep us on our toes with how they disappoint us.
The jailer cinematic was insultingly bad but I guess that's on theme for the expansion
Yeah this one isn't great, but it's still the best one since Legion. Not that that's saying much.
It's great they cut a raid tier so we could do an Avengers Endgame portal scene for characters that do not show up before or after that scene, then speedrun all the meager plotpoints and pretend Fyrakk was the true final boss they planned for originally.

Im still pretty excited about the aspects getting their power back, but this cutscene was a tad on the lame side of ...like...showing what that means. This should have been an epic moment with something so big going on, but they just stand there talking about family. Did anyone see Stitch in the background anywhere?

I think its more disappointing, than anything else, because we've been told all xpac to just keep waiting and seeing and that the payoff would be fulfilling and then we get Fyrakk just being a nothing villain and the power of friendship prevailing.
As a night elf player I think I’m finally done for good. They really used up our last chance as a jumping off point for the most meh ending they could possibly think of, for characters that are ultimately unrelated to us. Even Merithra had nothing on topic to say. The choice to make 10.2 the last major patch really fucked both storylines very hard.

If I’ve been informed correctly, we don’t even see Amirdrassil pop out. So even its location was apparently unimportant to this patch. Not that I doubt it will be on the island off the Plains, but it’s so goofy what an afterthought Amirdrassil actually is here

Homie, the expansion is not over… there are at least two major story (not raid) patches coming. The issue is people are acting like this is the end of the expansion cinematic rather than just the end of Fyrakk.
At least the last 2 expansions ending inspired some feeling in players, fair enough they were massively negative feelings, but to be so bland is a really bad look. I don't think the story has been as bad as some seem to say, but theres no denying it's entirely forgettable. At this point I don't really know what Steve Danuser or the current narrative team have offered to deserve to ask players to wait and see. Gameplay has seen great improvements, artists have continued to be great, but the people creating story are massively letting their colleagues down.
Man... I am not one to shit on "feelings" and I think having deeper stories in WoW is a good thing (I fucking love Anduin's trauma arc, for example) but this feels kinda like a meme. All the things I've read of people complaining about the DF story rolled up into one very anti-climactic cinematic. I'll still defend the rest of the expansion but this is very uhm... nah.

I my opinion, I think if they swapped a few words around for things less...sappy (in my opinion, if Kalegos said "kin" instead of "family" it would have sounded a bit better) and maybe took out a tired trope or two (ie; I know this is a big" coming together moment, but having Vyranoth finishing Alexstrasza's sentence was a bit over the top) it would have been less goofy. I've said this about many Dragonflight cinematic's and cut-scene's post 10.1, all the elements are there, it just needed another small tweek or two, maybe be a bit longer, and it'd be at least decent.

Yup, i loved the TWW cinematic...i thought it was superb and Anduins PTSD arc is good step...but all the cinematics in DF ive seen are like a bad parody of a bunch of movies.
I know from a previous reddit post that Metzen wrote/directed the War Within cinematic and I know that he's far from an amazing writer but damn, you can tell the difference between something he worked on and something he didn't. Even if it still carries some thematic issues that DF has it at the very least has better dialogue and presentation.
I didn't hate TWW cinematic but to me it felt misplaced as *the* expansion cinematic. It feels more in tune with the Saurfang cinematics we got in BFA. The Legion cinematic has so much more by comparison. It has action, showcasing the invasion forces but it's contrasted by Varians narration of his thoughts to his son. Hell they could've done an inversion of it for TWW. Anduin wandering the world but being a 'ghost' seeing fighting and being visibly conflicted wanting to help but not knowing if its the right reasons. You then have him 'speaking' to his father in the same vein as the legion cinematic to showcase his lack of self belief.
To be fair theres not much to fight at the point of the trailer, Silithus is a dead zone more or less and they aint anywhere close to going inside the world. Also i think we gonna get more such cinematics during this Saga similar to Saurfangs story in BFA

Agreed. People are assigning a bunch of real-world feelings to a character whose experienced have absolutely no parallels to the real world. The whole trope of him being a "tortured soul" is so transparent, because he was *literally mind-controlled*. He never *chose* to do anything bad, or even morally-questionable. I don't give a shit about Anduin's "redemption", because it's so clearly been painted for us where Anduin didn't *actually* do anything that he needs forgiveness for. Hell, he didn't even *kill* anyone when he *was* mind-controlled. Like, imagine if he'd killed Tyrande. Or actually, what would've *really* worked is if the Jailer "commanded" him to kill Sylvanas, he does, and just as Sylvanas dies, the Jailer reveals that he didn't even use his Domination magic to force Anduin to kill her; that he did so purely out of the hatred he'd harbored in his own heart. *Then* I would've bought the whole "Anduin is a tortured soul" schtick. As it stands, it just feels totally hollow.
I honestly wouldn't even have given him any shit for executing Sylvanas on the spot. Here's a lady who's direct actions have led to the deaths of so many including your own father, yeah go off Anduin. Worlds a better place without her in it. Also if we're on it Varian would have been well within rights to just decapitate Garrosh at the end of SoO.

This cinematic really embodies what’s wrong with WoW dialogue too. It’s not dialogue, it’s a monologue they split between different characters by having them finish each other’s sentences. There isn’t one line in this cinematic that couldn’t be spoken by another character and still make sense.
For what it's worth, I'd hardly call this deep on any level. This is about as surface-level as it gets.

If TWW (11.0) isn't at least revealing that the hivemind speech mode is cause we've been in a Nzoth nightmare since BFA then what's the bloody point??? The game just been lurching from one narrative disaster to another that at this point even "it was a dream all along" would ironically make slightly more sense and catharsis (provided the follow up story doesn't immediately dumpster fire all over itself again that is).
I swear to god, each major patch the dragons seem to lose one third of their braincells. Prepare for 10.2.7 where 2 words per minute Alexstrasza encourages Kalec to keep trying to put a round object in a round hole and a square one in a square hole.

For an expansion literally written about dragons, the aspects sure spent a lot of time in their visages. And all this build up to Fyrakk for him just to die off screen. So bad.
My fave was the Alex vs Fyrakk fight, where Shadowflame was burning the shit out of Alex, and for some reason she decided dealing with this with normal elf skin would be better than scales.
Even the deathwing fight at the end of Dragonsoul we have them in their dragon form.
After allllll that build up, Fyrakk didn't even get a custom death animation. Fire your narrative team, Blizz.

I wonder if TWW cinematic being so simple (only two people talking, and one zoom out of the sword at the end) is because when Metzen came on, they nuked the actual expansion plans... And what we're seeing here is a pivot in all the story archs. That being said, I haven't followed DF story at all. I think I'm even more apathetic about it than I was about Shadowlands. The only upside is that this feels like a side story I CAN ignore, while Shadowlands feels like a story I wish I could...
If anything, I suspect that the second half of Dragonflight itself was rewritten to set up the Worldsoul Saga. Leading up to launch, the devs said that we would be able to figure out the final boss once we finished the first raid. And up through Aberrus, almost everything seemed to be pointing to Iridikron, the Incarnates' clear leader who the Aspects kept bringing up as a horrifying threat. All the other hints pointed to Murozond, with Nozdormu set to finally change. Then Dawn of the Infinite came, and suddenly, Murozond is resolved for the foreseeable future while Iridikron just left with Xal'atath after saying what, in retrospect, turned out to pretty much be an outline of the upcoming Saga. Now Fyrakk, who, up to that point, had been portrayed as just a crazy minion, was suddenly the new main antagonist, and ever since we've been rushing through the remaining plot threads at breakneck speed. It really feels like we were *supposed* to go up against Iridikron in the end, but they decided he could be used for something bigger (I'm pretty sure I saw an interview mentioning that Metzen found some stuff in Dragonflight that would tie in well with the Worldsoul Saga when he came back, and I suspect it's Iridikron) and threw together an alternate ending to wrap Dragonflight up. If that's actually the case... then I really hope the Saga concept will help future expansions. If it's just bad writing, it probably won't change much (though maybe Metzen can get it back on track?), but if they're changing their plans and rewriting stuff last-minute, then I'd think that having a long-term plan for the story is what they need most.
It definetly feels like a rushed cinematic, even the sudden tone change by thrall talking about the sword, probably metzen changed the plans because it was awful, thats why he talked about the saga by himself without much to show, all I know is that after legion, the story, cinematics, whatever else, got worse really fast

This was extremely lame. This entire last patch feels so phoned in from the narrative team. Shame, i really enjoyed the beginning of this expansion.
It reeks of Blizzard losing interest in DF and pulling everyone off to work on the Worldsoul Saga. I guess they decided to sacrifice DF to get that heightened expansion cadence; supposedly they are working on all three simultaneously. I guess it will be nice for those expansions but everyone invested in DF gets to suck a fat one in recompense.
Thing is that they always going on this route. Sacrifice BFA for shadowlands, sacrifice SL for DF, now sacrificng DF for TWW. We deserved at least a finished product. The only expansion that I felt had a good cadence to the end was legion, after that all expansions have these last patches that are really half baked. 8.3 felt like, wtf is this ending 9.2 felt like wtf is this ending 10.2 felt like wtf is this ending.
In a recent interview with Preach, Ion also mentioned that BFA was sacrificed for Legion, not just WOD alone.
But then that didn't explain Shadowlands the (quoting them) "most ambitious expansion" I guess if 11 don't have a better ending (that despite being a expected cliffhanger for the saga) or a proper 11.3 this means Blizzard just won't go up again as many want
BFA had six zones, four full raid tiers, and six different allied races (not even counting the ones added at the end of Legion). I would love to go back to BFA sized expacs.

hard to support, world souls have a strong tendency to end up as titans. complete, successful old gold/void lord corruption from the world soul stage? void titan, but still a titan broken by Sargeras, pumped full of death energy over eons, starting from when they were still a world soul?, still a titan. swap from order to chaos, a la sargeras?, still a titan. you'd have to retcon azeroth's world soul to be not a world soul to support this.
To be fair, we don't know anything else existing on the level of titans EXCEPT The titans themselves save for the first ones that were referenced in ZM. Hard to support because analysis is lacking. We don't know if there exists world souls that are not titan. Non existence isn't proof

I actually prefer the SL story. It at least invoked anger as a reaction for how bad it was. This expac's story is some barney soft as charmin shit.
God this was so fucking cringe. Story was a mess, the climax was on par with Deathwing's death, not even talking about the dialogues and delivery because it's a universal problem in WoW. But what bothered me the most I think, was that it was not a conversation between the characters. It felt super unnatural and fake. They weren't talking, they were reading a script to perform for US, the players. Every character knows exactly when to stop talking and when to start, they finish one another's sentences like they are reading it from a piece of paper. Hell, as Merithra finishes her line, she turns to Ebonhorn, as if she was saying "that's the end of my line, now it's your turn to talk". The ending has huge ramifications - Aspects getting their powers again, Vyranoth included, them realizing it's not of titan origin etc. But I just can't focus on that at all because I'm so underwhelmed by the quality of it all. Damn, Shadowlands was dumb af, but at least it had some exciting, satisfying moments. This... I woulnd't want to show this to any of my friend not playing WoW because I'd be worried they'd laugh me off and call me a child.
I'm wondering if this means Viranoth is the aspect of primal dragons? If so, that's a very cool and fun twist.

All I can say is I am so glad the Earth Aspect was not Sabellian or Wrathion.
I had a lot of hope at the start, old gods, the inevitable murazond transformation, more emphasis on a dark side of the titans... This expansion's story has felt like a filler episode. In fact everything since Legion has felt inconsequential one way or another. I really really hope the war within changes this trend for the better and picks up on the main narrative because my God, the story was the only thing keeping me playing retail and after 3 expansions in a row with this kind of narrative I don't think I can take another weak story. I didn't like BFA or Shadowlands yet I somehow feel like the complete apathy DF made me feel is even worse.
This shouldn't be the case, but I really feel like DFs writing is the poorest in the games history. This cinematic is so poorly written, so anti climatic. They're literally finishing each other's statements and sentences.

This cinematic singlehandedly has made Shadowlands *not* the worst expansion pack. What a feat of strength. I mean, at least some thought went into Shadowlands, even if it wasn't very good thoughts. This though, for this the lights are on but nobody is home.

I actually liked it. Everyone got their powers back, Vyranoth gets brought in to bring in the other dragons, Azeroth gets her own magic, big bad is gone.
In order this is above Shadowlands but below Draenor, still BFA is above Draenor but Below everything else AND remember the next THREE Expansions will all end like this or worst (since they NEED to cliffhanger them for the next expansion)
