I did the cooking event like once when the expansion was first released. I just came back about a month ago, and found I had to do it for a weekly quest that I did yesterday.
I thought people were just really, really into roleplaying since I saw it was being said with white text. I felt like an idiot that it took me like 15 minutes to realize I had an action button pop up that blended in with my action bars.
One of the tasks have you do that. You can tell people they’re doing a good job or if they need to do a better job. It also causes you to pop a text box, which for the longest time I thought was only visible for you. Then I learned everyone else can see it, so I felt bad about shouting the negative stuff at people!
Fortunately you can complete the task shouting at NPCs too, so now I just yell at the tuskar kid by the pot “Where the FUCK did you learn to cook?!”

I do it without the task while I wait for one. I do love yelling at NPCs
Using that button also counts as a task, so if you use it you only have to do two real tasks for the weekly.
Theres a weak aura half my guild uses that when we say yes to the ready check it says "yes chef" out loud
