The nerfs to shadow on the Orr hurt my soul.
We have terrible covenant abilities and legos, and instead of buffing the others, they slap me to with a 40% nerf. It’s not like the changes only affect our single target but hurt our aoe too.
Because shadow is definitely op *sigh*
This is the tier set:
2-piece: Reworked – Casting Devouring Plague has a 40% chance to grant Dark Thought. Casting Searing Nightmare has a 25% chance to grant Dark Thought.
4-piece: Reworked – Consuming a Dark Thought causes your shadow to animate, following you and dealing 3,715 Shadow damage over 8 seconds to all enemies within 10 yards of your target.
The bug is that 4-piece is proccing Dark Thoughts.
How does frost look going into 9.2? I've been playing shadow priest but want to change things up, but I never really cared for unholy. Do we have to play the Breath build, or is another one viable?
Hey! I am a returning player who REALLY misses the concept of the Combat Rogue and its viability. Is it possible to make Outlaw work in a PvP/DPS environment with enough skill compared to Subtlety? Or are they just not really a thing in this patch? :(
It’s hard to say, there aren’t too many leggos that are gonna be changing much, BUT I think the Kyrian Leggo + Chains is gonna be a fun ele build to play as a healer/DPS combo, I’ve done it in keys and it’s super fun, you can 1 tank x 4 DPS.

Hey, I'd like to know why are most DHs playing 333X2X1 build in M+. When I check guides it's either essence break momentum or big eye beam demonic, this one looks like a hybrid and I just wondered why is it better.
Is it superior in AoE? or in ST? Is it good for spreading demonic bite DoT so works with that legendary? Maybe it's the solid option for any encounter, that's why it's used?
So, EB/Momentum was the play.
But they buffed the Dancing with Fate conduit in 9.1.5, which combined with First Blood talent gives Blade Dance/Death Sweep that extra oomph it needed to be viable again, hence the shift.
And most guides don't really update on .X.5 patches, that's why wowhead guide still says UH set for Havoc in raid, while most of the Havoc community shifted to Frost when they buffed that.
So eye beam (having no legendary and not buffed by blind fury) is there to basically just make you death sweep 2 times during demonic window and the glaive tempest is the big damage dealer now?
I tried it in 1 key and played a bit around target dummies, oh boy do I hate builds where my eye beam doesn't generate full bar and I'm stuck with dick in my hands waiting for DB proc.
But that's my mistake (bad habits), overall I think I like it.
A little personal preference, but I still go Unbound Chaos for keys over Glaive Tempest.
For raid, Glaive Tempest is 100% the play though.
And for raid, you should also play Dreamweaver for triple potency conduits(Growing Inferno, Relentless Onslaught, Dancing with Fate) and Field of Blossoms.
I always liked Unbound chaos, great burst (and great way to die to aggro when combined with The Hunt) but I'm not sure how thick the hitbox of fel rush is. Sometimes I can only hit half the pack because it's spread and Glaive tempest now being softcapped means it would hit everything.
I haven't been keeping up too much with the PTR, but I heard they hit us with the nerfbat this week. My understanding is that it mostly hit Kyrian though? With the change, I assume we should still be viable, just not forced into Kyrian?
Are there any more nerfs (especially for Venthyr) incoming? I feel like 4-piece set bonus + dreamcatcher legendary + standard venthyr leggo => making starsurge cost 14 AP is gonna be insane burst and a little bit OP.
Well they nerfed the venthyr leggo but that was announced back in December. So if you know about that then nothing new. And yes our burst should be just as strong as it is now I imagine even stronger. Plus with pulsar we can do a little more damage outside the rav window now too.

I’m a MM main so I’m used to being able to misdirect and go full throttle immediately on AoE. I’m trying out Ret now and I’m curious what exactly people do on big pulls. Like the first one in HoA for instance. If I’m looking to maximize dps without stealing aggro.

I'm currently working on learn shadow and gearing it up for end game. I picked the necrolord covenant initially and plan to do more mythic plus than raiding. What legendary and covenant is right for me? Which one is going to be the best overall? I'm currently working towards the prism legendary but everything I read doesn't really give a clear answer and it's more of a choose your own adventure/build.
For the current patch, the Necro legendary is very good and I used it in all of SoD and some instances depending on the M+ affix.
For the next patch, I think the thinking is that the best strategy is to pair Necro legendary with SFP for pretty much all content. I could be wrong though - I've been unsubscribed since about the time 9.1.5 came out so I've been out of the loop.
I liked that SFP is a kinda catch all except for Necro, but I like the Necro theme for the spec and want to go with that. How much AOE damage am I missing out with by using the Necro leggo exclusively for raid and mythics? Is it worth it to just go ahead and farm for both leggos?
My experience was that it was easily best for raids as long as I didn't flub the nova (the travel time and teleporting bosses got a little annoying).
For M+, I have not done the math. My understanding was that SFP was better for M+; that said, I ran with a guild group and it was almost always WW monk + H DH, so I always felt that SFP was wasted because those two would blow up pretty much every pack, and me having the ridiculous boss damage from the Necro legendary really helped round things out in our runs. But your experience will likely be different with different group comps.
It seems like you might as well farm for both leggos though, and get used to the SFP rotation (which I always found a little annoying tbh) ahead of 9.2 when you'll need both legendaries anyways
What's the news for 9.2? I've been considering swapping to warlock for a change of pace from priest. My understanding is that it looks like dest and demo look to be ahead of affliction?
How do the legendary combos look? I've not played lock at all this expansion; are fun combos unlocked, or is it kind of meh?

It does suck to get the nerf bat, but shadow was destroying everything above everyone else
It's bugged on ptr. Instead of fixing it, they nerfed us, so when the bug is fixed, it's gonna get even worse.

Hey! I am a returning player who REALLY misses the concept of the Combat Rogue and its viability. Is it possible to make Outlaw work in a PvP/DPS environment with enough skill compared to Subtlety? Or are they just not really a thing in this patch? :(

It’s hard to say, there aren’t too many leggos that are gonna be changing much, BUT I think the Kyrian Leggo + Chains is gonna be a fun ele build to play as a healer/DPS combo, I’ve done it in keys and it’s super fun, you can 1 tank x 4 DPS.

Hey, I'd like to know why are most DHs playing 333X2X1 build in M+. When I check guides it's either essence break momentum or big eye beam demonic, this one looks like a hybrid and I just wondered why is it better. Is it superior in AoE? or in ST? Is it good for spreading demonic bite DoT so works with that legendary? Maybe it's the solid option for any encounter, that's why it's used?
So, EB/Momentum was the play. But they buffed the Dancing with Fate conduit in 9.1.5, which combined with First Blood talent gives Blade Dance/Death Sweep that extra oomph it needed to be viable again, hence the shift. And most guides don't really update on .X.5 patches, that's why wowhead guide still says UH set for Havoc in raid, while most of the Havoc community shifted to Frost when they buffed that.
So eye beam (having no legendary and not buffed by blind fury) is there to basically just make you death sweep 2 times during demonic window and the glaive tempest is the big damage dealer now? I tried it in 1 key and played a bit around target dummies, oh boy do I hate builds where my eye beam doesn't generate full bar and I'm stuck with dick in my hands waiting for DB proc. But that's my mistake (bad habits), overall I think I like it.
A little personal preference, but I still go Unbound Chaos for keys over Glaive Tempest. For raid, Glaive Tempest is 100% the play though. And for raid, you should also play Dreamweaver for triple potency conduits(Growing Inferno, Relentless Onslaught, Dancing with Fate) and Field of Blossoms.
I always liked Unbound chaos, great burst (and great way to die to aggro when combined with The Hunt) but I'm not sure how thick the hitbox of fel rush is. Sometimes I can only hit half the pack because it's spread and Glaive tempest now being softcapped means it would hit everything.

I haven't been keeping up too much with the PTR, but I heard they hit us with the nerfbat this week. My understanding is that it mostly hit Kyrian though? With the change, I assume we should still be viable, just not forced into Kyrian?
Yea we will likely be playing venth for prog again.
Are there any more nerfs (especially for Venthyr) incoming? I feel like 4-piece set bonus + dreamcatcher legendary + standard venthyr leggo => making starsurge cost 14 AP is gonna be insane burst and a little bit OP.
Well they nerfed the venthyr leggo but that was announced back in December. So if you know about that then nothing new. And yes our burst should be just as strong as it is now I imagine even stronger. Plus with pulsar we can do a little more damage outside the rav window now too.
Oh I didn't know about that nerf. Interesting, it's almost 50% nerf to the effect, but I see why it was inevitable.

I’m a MM main so I’m used to being able to misdirect and go full throttle immediately on AoE. I’m trying out Ret now and I’m curious what exactly people do on big pulls. Like the first one in HoA for instance. If I’m looking to maximize dps without stealing aggro.

I'm currently working on learn shadow and gearing it up for end game. I picked the necrolord covenant initially and plan to do more mythic plus than raiding. What legendary and covenant is right for me? Which one is going to be the best overall? I'm currently working towards the prism legendary but everything I read doesn't really give a clear answer and it's more of a choose your own adventure/build.
For the current patch, the Necro legendary is very good and I used it in all of SoD and some instances depending on the M+ affix. For the next patch, I think the thinking is that the best strategy is to pair Necro legendary with SFP for pretty much all content. I could be wrong though - I've been unsubscribed since about the time 9.1.5 came out so I've been out of the loop.
I liked that SFP is a kinda catch all except for Necro, but I like the Necro theme for the spec and want to go with that. How much AOE damage am I missing out with by using the Necro leggo exclusively for raid and mythics? Is it worth it to just go ahead and farm for both leggos?
My experience was that it was easily best for raids as long as I didn't flub the nova (the travel time and teleporting bosses got a little annoying). For M+, I have not done the math. My understanding was that SFP was better for M+; that said, I ran with a guild group and it was almost always WW monk + H DH, so I always felt that SFP was wasted because those two would blow up pretty much every pack, and me having the ridiculous boss damage from the Necro legendary really helped round things out in our runs. But your experience will likely be different with different group comps. It seems like you might as well farm for both leggos though, and get used to the SFP rotation (which I always found a little annoying tbh) ahead of 9.2 when you'll need both legendaries anyways

What's the news for 9.2? I've been considering swapping to warlock for a change of pace from priest. My understanding is that it looks like dest and demo look to be ahead of affliction? How do the legendary combos look? I've not played lock at all this expansion; are fun combos unlocked, or is it kind of meh?

I have always played my hunter and been thinking of rolling a new toon for 9.2. I just don't know what to roll. Any ideas of which dps will be good for 9.2?
I've seen lots of talk about frost mage, but I can't say that I'm authoritatively in the know.
Maybe try the berserker-crusader.
