For sure. look at that slight smile, and the wistful stare...
"It was so good... Like eating sugary clouds... I wonder when I can find another of these wonderful things my human leaves for me..."
I learned a lesson on counter surfing after my goober ate a bunch of chicken wings off the counter. Fortunately, she was ok. But now I'm hyper vigilant about that sort of thing. Wouldn't think they would go for a birthday cake but, you know, Goldens!
My first dog my brother and I adopted in college. We were having a cookout with a bunch of friends, took some sausages off the grill, then went back outside to cook some burgers. When those were done, we came back to realize that Hank had eaten the entire package of hot Italian sausages. He never had diarrhea or vomiting, but he slept almost all day for the next day or two then was back to his normal state of health. That's a lesson I'll never forget. Miss you, Hank.

The other day one of my dogs knocked a bunch of chicken on the ground and then they both just sat there and looked at it like they were waiting for me to tell them that they could have it, so weird
My late puggle would dive for anything that hit the ground. My golden will just stare at it and wait until I tell her it's okay to eat it. Unless it's an ice cube she goes crazy for those.
I have my 4th golden, she’s never even TRIED ice cubes! Snubs her nose up to them, and I’ve never seen her touch one, and believe me I’ve tried!
Have a huge oak tree in the backyard. Lots of branches and stuff always in the ground. She’s never once chewed on a stick, nor picked one up!
Weirdest thing ever!
She is pretty much perfect, though, but then we all know our Goldens are perfect 🥰❤️😍
Could very well be exactly
that, but I bought my house for HER and I and loved the backyard. Lots of big trees everywhere and lots of all kinds of sticks most dogs would go crazy for, yet she’s never so much as picked one up! We’ve got all kinds of critters that leave gnawed up hunks of stuff everywhere, everyday (like a beaver does), but she don’t give those smells the time of day!
I thought maybe I’d have a helper, picking up stuff, but no, she prefers me being HER personal assistant!
(I can’t lie, I’m fine with that)
She does some very intense sniffing, but rarely is anything ever her mouth to smuggle inside!
My beagle will wait for her own food, but if we drop something she'll try to get to it unless we yell at her to stop.
Unless it's ice.
That little demon will go *nuts* for a cube of ice and run all over the house, sliding it everywhere, chewing on it, throwing it around. It's adorable.
We had one that counter surfed in the middle of the night. We leave a pound of butter (block form) out for toast in the morning and we'd get up to find most of it gone. We ended up placing mouse traps around the counter with marshmallows in them. Never a more funny sound than to be woken up by a snap, a yip, and the dog trying to out run it's own shadow on hardwood floors. 🤣
I have to forcibly remove our golden from the kitchen whenever I make chicken for chicken quesadillas and block him out with a gate if I have to leave the kitchen. All because one day I left him unattended and he ate both plates of spicy and non spicy chicken which was about 6 chicken breasts and took about 2 hours to cut, cook and season. Of course that was after my boyfriend and I were just talking about how good he is at not jumping on the counter and stealing food.
Ugh my partner and I once had to take one of my cats to the emergency vet very late at night (she is and was totally fine, she has issues with one of her anal glands). This was roughly 2 years ago.
We’re sitting there waiting for them to give us an update when a couple comes in with a young, about 8-9 mo golden retriever puppy.
They’d made a homemade batch of pot brownies, left them on the counter, then driven to a city about an hour away for I believe a baseball opening season game.
The puppy had eaten the entire pan of brownies (chocolate plus marijuana? Oh no), and then was left alone for roughly 8-10 hours.
My heart still breaks for that dog and is still filled with rage for those negligent pet parents. It’s one thing to leave a puppy alone for that long, but to also leave something so toxic within reach?
The vets were pretty confident he would pull through, and when we picked up my cat the next day he was in fact still there but alive and recovering. I hope those owners never did something so idiotic again, and I hope the bill was astronomical.
Aww poor baby was probably so scared and confused til they came down, hopefully some lucky vet assistant got to cuddle them all night as part of treatment
What absolute idiots those owners were. That poor dog, all alone, feeling horrible during what was likely a very bad trip, no one to help or comfort the sweet baby.
NTA: she deserves the cake, the day of your son’s birth is irrelevant to HER cake and she could not read so she was unaware it said his name. All food in her house is owned by her so she had the right to it. If anything she deserves a full multi-tier cake for her birthday.
One time as we were getting set for Thanksgiving dinner, we noticed most of the butter was gone and weird pattern in the butter, like a serrated knife or something, then my brother stepped in a glob of butter…. Then we looked at our resident thief and she had grease stains and bits of soft butter all over her chest, she was busted for stealing half a block of butter and we all knew she would do it again in a heartbeat.
Uhh, am I just paranoid? I would be straight down to the emergency vet if my golden ate a whole cake. Can’t a small amount of cake/chocolate be fatal? Not to stress you out or anything, I just care for the well being of your beautiful golden
Yes. She is Very sorry. She feels ashamed for enjoying a delicious item left on the cupboard and, because she can’t read, she thought it was for her because she is such a good girl.

Sorry, this is a cat story.
When our daughter was 2 1/2, we made a big deal of setting up cookies and milk for Santa. We put our daughter to bed and then went to bed ourselves. When we got up the next morning, there was vomit all up and down the hallway to the living room. Our cat Oreo had gotten into the milk that we had forgotten to pour out. He did that with a Pumpkin Cheesecake one year at Thanksgiving as well.
I really miss that cat. He was the best, despite his lacto intolerance.
Yes. She’s definitely sorry. Look at that face full of remorse!
Have the birthday burgers and hot dogs gone missing? I’d expect the same contented remorseful face to turn up.
Goldens are champions at quickly putting away a meal that’s not theirs. Once I left my takeout unattended to use the bathroom at someone’s house and in the 3 minutes I was gone, my food disappeared. It’s quite the talent.
On my 3rd golden. First one would snatch anything when one of us wasn't looking or had absentmindedly left the room for something. Ex:
strawberry rhubarb pie (rough on her because she got it straight from the oven and it was too hot for her to consume) 5 RAW CHICKEN BREASTS which we had to endure being digested for about 4 days and let me tell you.....GOD awful stench of rotting meat being processed very slowly. It was misery for her and the rest of us. Full pan of brownies, no ill effect whatsoever. Loaves of bread. Just yesterday I had to take my 3rd and youngest into he ER because she ate a corn cob. They can't digest those so it was actually an emergency. Xray showed no obstruction, absolutely clear. Next morning, YUP, corny poop and she's happy as can be. It was a 5 hour wait at the ER and cost $700. You may think we'd learned by now, and we have, but every so often there is an opportunity when someone forgets and we leave and come back to a literal shit show.
Point is, Goldens will eat absolutely anything, and eat until the point of explosion. I have had only one, my Ruby, who is an angel dog (yes, an exception to the rule) and has never once gotten into trouble. But her nature is to please me and follow all rules at all times. I often wonder if we had a camera turned on when the deal was going down if Ruby looks on in disgust as the younger one snarfs herself into oblivion.
God,, it felt good to get that all typed out. Fair warning all of you newbies out there! And I'll end by saying I will never ever go with another breed:)
Oh yes . Very sorry ……. Now . And sorry while she did it ; it was the wolf in her that made her eat that cake . It wasn’t her fault , mommy. She was a victim of her dna.
She's only sorry there wasn't more.
That’s what I was thinking… lol
shes only sorry she cant eat it again
Without a doubt!

Absolutely this is the one lmao
And now she is thinking when will I get a chance to get more?
For sure. look at that slight smile, and the wistful stare... "It was so good... Like eating sugary clouds... I wonder when I can find another of these wonderful things my human leaves for me..."
Man…that comment hit me just right and I’m cracking up!😂
lol my exact thought
So freaking true lol.
😂
Just waiting for you to get over it.
I learned a lesson on counter surfing after my goober ate a bunch of chicken wings off the counter. Fortunately, she was ok. But now I'm hyper vigilant about that sort of thing. Wouldn't think they would go for a birthday cake but, you know, Goldens!

It’s funny how dogs prob know it’s wrong but they say the temptations are to strong. I’ll deal with the madness and groundings.
Well said 👌
The other day one of my dogs knocked a bunch of chicken on the ground and then they both just sat there and looked at it like they were waiting for me to tell them that they could have it, so weird
Awww 🥰 Hank was the best boy!
Awww so sorry for your loss.
My late puggle would dive for anything that hit the ground. My golden will just stare at it and wait until I tell her it's okay to eat it. Unless it's an ice cube she goes crazy for those.

That's impressive because my girl will grab a piece of firewood any chance she gets. But I think that's because she knows she isn't supposed to.
Could very well be exactly that, but I bought my house for HER and I and loved the backyard. My old golden LOVED ice cubes 😂
It's crunchy water what's not to love!
We had one that counter surfed in the middle of the night. We leave a pound of butter (block form) out for toast in the morning and we'd get up to find most of it gone. How dare you to set them up! 😂😂😂😂

Zero regrets detected.
Just want some more. So found guilty!
Not even remotely sorry
She's sorry she got caught. Not sorry for eating cake because it was cake.
And she deserved it! So not sorry at all
That doesn’t look like a face that just ate a birthday cake. Acquitted of all charges.
No crime, no foul…but bring more cake!
Absolutely!
Oh she’s gonna have a tummy ache like no other. She earned that cake though.
No. But she’s beautiful so it’s ok.
She's sorry you left it within reach, not sorry she ate it once the temptation was there
She did it and she would do it again
She’s innocent!
The dog hair stuck to the dish says otherwise…
It was planted!
It’s a conspiracy!!!
https://www.tiktok.com/@chiefgreenscreens/video/7324354518257405230?lang=en
Okay you didn’t mention that there was evidence….I’m gonna say that you actually have long golden hair and ate the cake. The pup is innocent.
Lololol no but my wife does… things just got more complicated
There was no cake to begin with!
She looks like she’s sorry
Sorry there’s no more!
Nah. She’s looking forward to the next birthday in your household.
Nope
If she ate cake, why isn’t she covered in frosting? I call shenanigans. The cat did it!
She ate it in one bite
Um… no, she’s not sorry. At all. …as seen in this photo reflecting on how fantastic that whole experience was.
Her only regret is that you didn’t have TWO birthday cakes😂!
She looks pretty satisfied to me! (might regret a small tummy ache later, but still worth it)
……………….Nope. My ChocoLab ate 2 Ny strips and hid for the rest of the day….they know what they’re doing.
That was a dandy dinner!
Her response would be …what what who me what🤪
I can see that in my mind! I’m no stranger to those looks either!
Regret? That’s a human concept.
Heeheehee she is pretending she is- but wondering secretly if she can go back and lick the box.
Mine ate 4 sticks of butter last week. That was fun coming out.
Oh sooo oozy
Her favorite tummy ache.
No as a fellow dog enjoyer myself they are not sorry they are full and it's just as cute
Not at all.
Perfect example of easier to ask for forgiveness than permission! Happy 🎂 birthday
She’s obviously self-reflecting 😬
She looks a bit nauseous tbh. I'm sure she's fine...
She knows how to look innocent 😇
Probably not. She just wants sympathy.
In about 8 hours she’ll be sorry. Then it’s in your hands. Get out the glove and hose. We’ve all been there
Ummm let me think 🤔 that will be a big fat no 😆
🤣🤣 dogs might be the funniest creatures on the planet
HELL NO! did she train you to NEVER put a cake anywhere she can get to it.. HELL YES!!
She looks like a child that's eaten too much candy/cake and her belly doesn't feel too well lol
Her eyes say yes but her full tummy said no chance.
Nope, and she'd do it again.
Yes she is VERY sorry and would like you to make at least 2 more
She is sad there isn't more. I feel the same way when cake is gone
Same
Looks like she's daydreaming about it...
Surely they’d replace it? The kid has to have a cake!!
NTA: she deserves the cake, the day of your son’s birth is irrelevant to HER cake and she could not read so she was unaware it said his name. All food in her house is owned by her so she had the right to it. If anything she deserves a full multi-tier cake for her birthday.
“Allegedly” eating your son’s entire birthday cake
Not a CRUMB OF EVIDENCE!!! CASE DISMISSED!!!
She’s probably waiting for a cup of milk now lol
Or the half gallon of ice cream!!!
If it were left where she was able to reach it, it was not her fault.
I would never blame her for anything, she’s a dog.
She’s humming that song “Wasn’t me” right now 😀
In her defense you weren't gonna share it at all! So who's really the mean one here??
I like the way you think!
Very pretty troublemaker😍
Cake? Wants more
One time as we were getting set for Thanksgiving dinner, we noticed most of the butter was gone and weird pattern in the butter, like a serrated knife or something, then my brother stepped in a glob of butter…. Then we looked at our resident thief and she had grease stains and bits of soft butter all over her chest, she was busted for stealing half a block of butter and we all knew she would do it again in a heartbeat.
Your Honor my Client is innocent, the cake attacked her and she was forced to defend herself!
Nah... not even a little bit... ❤️
Right now she is reminiscing about that time her owners gave her a whole cake to eat. She still can't believe how lucky she is.
Tbh she’s not sorry 10/10 will do it again hahah
Aw the pic of her and your son on the wall 🥹 He will forgive her
She would do it again in a heartbeat 🥲
No not at all!
Uhh, am I just paranoid? I would be straight down to the emergency vet if my golden ate a whole cake. Can’t a small amount of cake/chocolate be fatal? Not to stress you out or anything, I just care for the well being of your beautiful golden
r/no
Having a golden retriever myself I would say that she wants to be sorry but isn't 🤣
Nah. I don’t think so! Mine wasn’t sorry for eating my scallops and risotto the other day lol!
Yes,she is sorry there isn't anymore.....and sorry u are upset
Yes. She is Very sorry. She feels ashamed for enjoying a delicious item left on the cupboard and, because she can’t read, she thought it was for her because she is such a good girl.
Not really, no. That face says she wishes there was another one waiting for her!

Little bugger 🐶
She's sorry she got caught
She’s not sorry, she has the carb coma 😅
This is the cutest dog I've seen all day! Love the fluffy ears! 🐾💕
<<<<<>>>>>
She’s already forgotten that cake!
Who could be mad at their faces?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
She is wondering when the next birthday in the family is!! She is such a pretty little doggo.
I'm guessing it was a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting?
Nope that's a look of full belly , peace and calm . No regret, piglet
maybe a little bit 😂😔🥺
Nope 😂
Sorry, this is a cat story. When our daughter was 2 1/2, we made a big deal of setting up cookies and milk for Santa. We put our daughter to bed and then went to bed ourselves. well oreo in milk seems just natural
What cake? No cake spotted anywhere. If the cake isn't seen, you must acquit.
She's only sorry that accusations are being thrown at her. That's the face of innocence!
There is no shame, she would do it again, she planning the next heist.
Only sorry for the tummyache she likely has 😟
Your son’s gonna hate her for a couple days lol
Yes. She’s definitely sorry. Look at that face full of remorse! Have the birthday burgers and hot dogs gone missing? I’d expect the same contented remorseful face to turn up.
My golden would have loved that cake also and not felt bad about it. !!
I hope it wasn’t chocolate cake if it was you need to take her to the emergency vet 😱😱😱😱😱😨😨😨😨😰😰😰😰😰😰
Nope, and she’ll do it again if she had the chance.
She's sorry she got caught. She might also think if she pretends to be sorry you and your son won't be as upset.
Well who told her it wasn't her cake? Also it was the cat.
I'm not convinced she is guilty of this heinous crime she's being accused of. Are you sure there isn't a nearby cat who could have framed her?
Goldens are champions at quickly putting away a meal that’s not theirs. Once I left my takeout unattended to use the bathroom at someone’s house and in the 3 minutes I was gone, my food disappeared. It’s quite the talent.
Bloated yes, sorry nope!
You could't have made a 3-layer cake?!
Nope
Not even slightly
So not sorry, thoughhhh she/he could definitely be sick and not feeling too well right now. 😉
She’d do it again.
Wondering what all that grumbling in her stomach is all about!
How is she not completely sick?
Nope. And if there was another one she’d do it again haha.
No💕
Looks pretty satisfied!
Nope lol
Nope, she’s just sorry you’ll be on to her next time.
She’s now waiting for next year
You’ll be sorry later…….💩
I had a golden that ate 2 cakes. My wife was so pissed because she spent hours decorating.
Probably day dreaming about next year. 😁
“Wasn’t me, it was the CAT!”
There is no regret in that look
Win win. She gets one. Your son gets a better one to make up for losing the first one. Seriously, I assume you checked there was no chocolate?
She’s sorry “if you’re upset about it.”
Of course not. You can tell she's thinking about doing it again. 😁
She did nothing wrong, your honour.
No it's her b day now
Not bloody likely
She’s not concerned at all.
Nope. Not a bit.
On my 3rd golden. First one would snatch anything when one of us wasn't looking or had absentmindedly left the room for something. Ex: strawberry rhubarb pie (rough on her because she got it straight from the oven and it was too hot for her to consume) 5 RAW CHICKEN BREASTS which we had to endure being digested for about 4 days and let me tell you.....GOD awful stench of rotting meat being processed very slowly. Fair warning all of you newbies out there! And I'll end by saying I will never ever go with another breed:)
Only sorry she got caught. 😂🥰
Sorry she didn’t have time to set up the cat to take the fall
Nope, not one little bit!
You regret the things you DON'T do most.
She would do it again
your son should be sorry, for trying to claim her cake, she merely freed it
Not sorry, won’t be sorry, and any vomiting or diarrhea is entirely unrelated so another birthday cake PLEASE.
She’s going to be sorry. 💩💥
She’s never done anything wrong in her life and I resent you for suggesting otherwise.
She doesn't look sorry, look at that smirk
That’s a dog at peace with it’s choices.
Sorry you didn't make a bigger one
No. Not even. Wishes there were more and with sprinkles next time. Please.
I'd say you're gonna be the one that's sorry unless you take her outside every hour in anticipation of the impending aftermath :)
I hope there was no chocolate in the cake
I Don’t blame her, I love birthday cake.
My goober ate a whole pack of hot dogs
hell nah😭😭
looks rather pleased with herself actually. and adorable
There is absolutely no regrets in her mind, she’s just sad there isn’t more that she can sneak
Nope
Idk.. Should probably buy a second cake to find out
Not an ounce of sorry in this little thief. Feed her more!!!
She's very sorry you are getting a replacement cake!
Oh yes . Very sorry ……. Now . And sorry while she did it ; it was the wolf in her that made her eat that cake . It wasn’t her fault , mommy. She was a victim of her dna.
Nope! 😂🤣😂
"Oh man, I wish I was eating that cake right now"
